Assume and Presume

We impute to the animal kingdom
    human thoughts and emotions
My kitty licks herself, so I assume
    she's a cleanliness bug

Yet when a big kitty, like a tiger
    is eyeing me to eat
  I presume that she's starving
when I'm just a real taste treat

My cat would eat us both in a second if he was out of kibble, so I get this.

A very wise observation, gw. In the case of the tiger, I just check to make sure the gate is locked!
