Come be merry
on the streets of the French quarter.
Come be merry,
plum liqueur and praline whiskey.
We’re the oldest brick and mortar,
drink and have an appetizer.
Come be merry.

What falls from my eyes is dry; as crystals of a saltine
Frozen waters, be damned; I find calm in what they mean
Sweetness of their memory; form a perfections praline
Warmth of space, you're a true descendant of constantine
Thawing by infernos of thoughts; they returned to saline
With untarnished glare, I find to be a perfect sheen
Through earned tears; uncompromised understanding, can be seen

Love is known as the best medicine, after all,
But chocolate is an excellent medicine,
Citronette is an excellent medicine too,
Praline is a medicine that can be enjoyed,
Leave loves in their pink cardboard box,
Unpack treats and yellow nougatines,
Orangette is the best medicine, in bed,
To take with his green tea in the evening or solo,
Love is a divine medicine, now and everywhere
But Cognac croquette is a love medicine,
Poetry is the best medicine, in many places
With dark chocolate. Or colored sweeties.

Jean Neuhaus had an apothecary store in Brussels.
He started covering medicines with chocolate, to make it more palatable.
His grandson replaced the medicine with praline.
“a spoonful of sugar”

A unique bar with chicory coffee
side by side our famous praline whiskey;
The ‘Black Heart Masquerade’ reinvention
we have completed all the construction;
Fangs out to raise the vibe we are after
with each step your heart skips a bit faster;
The feeling in the lounge achingly hot
comparable to a dopamine shot;
Opening ten minutes after sunset
a man walked in that I won’t soon forget;
He stood behind the bouncer at the door
and headed toward me on the dance floor;
“Did you just step out of one of my dreams? “
I replied, “You can call me Inalem.”

Ernestine and her friends sweet sixteen
Jean Irene Josephine and Pauline
Dolled up in glamorous aubergine velveteen
Dreamt of being harvest queens on Halloween
Living it up Eugene drove their limousine
Directly to the drive-in theater widescreen
And there He was larger than life The Wolverine
With his deep hypnotic eyes of aquamarine
Twists and turns unforeseen in out and in between
For something not much bigger than a magic bean
Escaped the guillotine somewhere in the Philippine
Plenty of action all for a figurine of Byzantine
Hearts pitter patter larger than life The Wolverine
With the dreamiest hypnotic eyes of aquamarine
Back home Ernestine tossed her poster of Steve McQueen
The pristine one torn last week from a hip teen magazine
There was a new heartthrob on the scene
Sweeter than a bowl of ice scream topped with praline
Sitting to write her love letter to The Wolverine
Seal it with a kiss colour and scent of tangerine

Children at the ice cream store, are staking claims with hungry eyes
But all those choices, ....how to pick, while clutching dollars for their prize?
On their tip-toes,...peeking in, frost on noses like cherry roses!
Standing there in mute despair, like indecisive millionaires !!
With fifty flavors waiting there, tempting them to choose a pair
How to choose a double dip?
Should they get the chocolate chip, strawberry or bubble gum?
Praline cream or butter rum?
All those flavors ...is there one, that satisfies a drooling tongue?
Finally mommy has a plan...
Tell the smiling ice cream man
Two yummy ice creams......in the cones
Two different pints to carry home!

Chocolate Indulgences (20150129)
If I really had no choice but to divulge,
In mountains of chocolate I would indulge.
I'm not just taking about Snickers,
Reese's peanut butter cups, Butterfingers,
Or other grocery store sweeties.
I'm talking about the expensive stuff, most from oversea:
Fruit and nut bars from British Cadbury,
Milk molasses chips from local Mrs. See's,
Fudge Easter Eggs from domestic Helen Grace,
Belgian praline Sea Shells from Leonidas,
Belgian Cote D'Or bouche pralines,
And from Germany's Ritter Sport--EVERYTHING!
Wallowing in glorious chocolate, I'd be so pathetic,
If not for the fact, that I'm a diabetic.

beef ribs, baked beans, and baby croissants drenched in butter
skewered shrimp, corn on the cob, and a loaded baked potato drenched in butter
baked chicken, bacon shells and cheese, and a taco salad with a dollop of sour cream
for dessert, two scoops of pecan praline ice cream on a freshly made waffle cone
give me about five essential oldies on my mind....let me see.....

you see, simplicity to me
is like making a wish under the apple tree
the heat in the shade does not matter
if the coolness of the day's feeling makes you yourself feel gladder
even if rain decides to fall,
being totally drenched will not halt your joy at all
for it is the love of yourself within you that takes the lead
and the relaxing rhythm of a natural prosperity that is similar to your noble steed
