Make sure you do not need the toilet before stepping into a lift.
If you drop something pick it up before a packrat or a magpie sees it.
A good book is always worth having when in a waiting room,
Waiting for a bus or train,
Or outside a clothes shop waiting for a partner or friend,
To finish trying on everything in the shop.
Learn animal sign language,
For early warning of Earthquakes, floods and twisters.
Make a list of everything you give for free to the charity shop,
So you do not end up buying some or all of the items back.
Be prepared to make a run for it if you hear the words,
"Is this of any use to you".
Check potential partners for signs of hoarding.
When you child says but Dad,
Always best to stop what you are doing,
As chances are you are about to make a dumb mistake,
That can be used against you for years.
Always have a pencil in your pen drawer,
As finding a pen that works,
When you need one is never a given.
Planning a trip ahead of time,
Leaves more hair on your head.
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't very
fuzzy, was he!
But...
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a ducky
(warm underwater-- how lucky!)
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a gerbil
(naturally, he was non-verbal)
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a kitty
(and by the way, very pretty)
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a puppy
(so much fuzzier than a guppy)
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a packrat
(but don't let him hear you say that!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bird
(and he loved his lemon curd!)
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a kitten
(all who met her were quite smitten!)
Written by James Edward Lee Sr
It is unfathomable to me how people can get hooked on video games
until it happens to me, and of course, it does as I have an
obsessive compulsive side thanks to my dad.
It is unconscionable to me that anyone can live like a hoarder until
I start living like one, thanks to my dad being a packrat, and teaching
me the thrill of it.
It is super weird to me that my mother, who loves to clean and cook and
keep things tidy and pay on time, and not shop had almost no influence
over me in any way apparently.
Maybe it is because I had my own ways, and her ways seemed strange
and stark and boring?
Yes, that must be it.
Daddy was a salesman, gone a lot.
When he came home, it was Christmas.
Every time.
I am in my beautifully decorated office where I have dragged overflow
A baby gift that should have been given over to the new mama long ago,
Reams of paper that are not going to walk themselves to the printer.
Notebooks and pencils that could be put on a shelf for the winter.
It is weird that my office was gorgeous for a month or so
Then I started dragging and dumping when I should have said whoa.
Sure in three weeks I discarded seven truckloads of junk
But to think I am a neatnick is a complete load of bunk.
The real problem is that I started five projects at the same time.
They overwhelmed me, shut me down, and gave me walls I wanted to climb.
I have not seen my relatives or my friends although three weeks I have been home.
I am sorting and throwing, every pencil box, toothbrush, and comb.
When I get finished, it will be such a welcome sigh of relief.
Packrat people should move every year or two is my honest belief.
you, a packrat
a luncheon of puckey
meaning leftovers
I, wrinkled hands
date with the dishes
ghosts from the burial ground
are barely noisy
sometimes watching our TV
they tease the cats
who treat them like mirrors
they cannot smell
eight, the number of
toenails you possess
(and also)
the number of fallen trees
