Nourished Poems

Premium MemberHeavenly Gifts

Abounding blest compassion divinely exudes fulfillment
Toward a flourishing life with peaceful glow
Midst caring and sharing along blessings’ flow
All from the Lord we can enjoy by gracious empowerment.

Granted heavenly ... instilling justice, kindness, loving mercy
Blessings from God multiply with His magnanimous grace
As we utilize them, devoid of greediness-trace
In our gratefulness to utilize resources devoid of complacency.

Nourished optimally, providing quests’ resplendence
Gifts of the Almighty are loaded with contentment gain
Vanquishing haughtiness of covetousness-pain
For faithful stewardship yon earthly transcendence.

Satisfying triumph, upholding virtuous worth
Faith in Christ champions blissful trust-delight
Freely fueled to vanquish doubt of skeptic blight
Toward reaching-out, creating paradise on earth.

The taxi speeds down the highway
zig zagging to miss the potholes.
It slows as a horse and cart crosses,
followed by the owner's dog.
On the other carriageway people wait
hoping someone will give them a lift.
An old Cadillac smokes its way down the road.
In the town, buildings are like well-worn pairs of shoes –
they fit, still function but have seen better days.

But the people are well nourished, clothed and clean.
Smiles of genuine happiness are all around.
This is a country which lives to a different pulse -
Ché its heartbeat,
Fidel its lifeblood.
People are living the revolution where others have failed –
common wellbeing before personal gain,
society’s hallmark is equality and colour-blindness.

Educated and cultured, enjoyment is beyond the material.
Musical rhythms set the daily pace.
There is a determination to live and succeed despite hardship.
But is it only hardship when seen through Western eyes?
The freedom of spirit is to be admired.
But what does the future hold?
The greatest challenge is yet to come –
influx of other peoples from not so far away.

¡Cubana!

Premium MemberNew Frontiers

Earthbound, beneath the dark sky above,
enduring a empty endless night,
I first gave my heart over to love,
and my spirit suddenly took flight.

Illuminated by this newfound light,
what had for long been a dormant seed,
nourished by astonishing delight,
was, at once, fortuitously freed.

What followed, then, with surprising speed,
a sleepless child, who would fuss and cry,
prompting me to find a story to read,
and forever asking, "why, why, why".

It seems life's best changes do appear
when embarking on a new frontier.

Premium MemberA Poet Has No Life Of Their Own

A Poet has no
life of their own
They are obsessed,
possessed by the Word- - - - -
Must follow their
Muse to wherever
it takes them
They can't become
involved with
Worldly endeavors
They are always on call
Keep their emotions
calm, in check
Have a sharp focus
as to what they're doing
Must maintain poise
and a clear head
Poetry is their passion
It keeps them
nourished and well fed
with food for the Soul

A Carnival Night

The joyful moon dazzled beneath that clear sky,
A sharp breeze danced and waved so freely,
In my wine glass, a vibrant laser beam shone,
Soft ripples spread, the music wasn't lone.

I raised my champagne, I sank,
Your smell lingered in the aroma, it nourished my lung,
A flavour so unique between the icy particles,
It's you who danced in those colourful bubbles.

A drink so smooth lifted us high,
We swayed to the rhythm, no longer shy,
A rare short lively night, but long gone,
A carnival night, it was one.

TRUTH BE TOLD

Truth’s not the problem…
Truth is inevitable…
Lying…challenging…

You can’t alter truth…
Truth’s beyond altering…
You can’t adjust truth…

Their history lies:
Apocalypiticism,
Tells ourstory’s truth:-

Seek and find the truth;
Knock and truth will open up:
Truth never denies:-

Enlightened with truth,
Be nourished with her feedings:
Hunger, satisfied:-

Premium MemberLotus Spins

A sitting takes me to an attic of raw light
bestowing quiet glow for travelers
unyielding to a precise compass
of direction, a spaceless space nourished as it
were, losing the self to Bodhi-like clouds
and nomadic lotus spins.
 I release this soul buried
in the kundalini to a congregation
of ambient tunes saying nothing,
taking flight unto a hymn of
unknown center , balanced
and steadily grounded--
no more weight or cities divided
united by forms of one core,

My malleable flesh dissolving into tiny
breaths; it floats with grace
ascending the next chi
as I go deep, deeper..high, higher
until this my body- mind- spirit marries
in a ceremony of quietude,
the airiness of journeying
through this unshaped season
fed by something
unbidden in my life so blessed:

I step outside my body, somewhere,
without a trace that lightbeams
expand my journey to higher dimension

searching for a mantra of stars....

The home is full with the sound of laughter
Friends and family all the kids playing chasing each other

Gentle talking and loud voices
All in the mix this is where home is it's fixed

Nourished by food
Nourished by rhyme
Spinning the music lost in time
The fire's on burning hot and bright
Comfort togetherness this fills the home tonight

The home is a mess but that's ok
Our home is lived in this is where we play

Nourished by food
Nourished by rhyme
Spinning the music lost in time
We dance and move
We share and lean
We open our hearts in the mood to dream

To blend and bond
No longer alone
All are welcome here in the spirit of our home

Nourished by food
Nourished by rhyme
Spinning the music lost in time
The fire's on burning hot and bright
Comfort togetherness
This fills the home tonight

Nourished by food
Nourished by rhyme
Spinning the music lost in time
We dance and move
We share and lean
We open our hearts in the mood to dream

To blend and bond
No longer alone
All are welcome here in the spirit of our home
All are welcome here in the spirit of our home

I have never tasted your full lips,
which lack a moisturizing tip.
Yet, I somehow feel as if I have.
I watched you break that fresh loaf of bread, and you said to me,
“You are welcome.”
 Somehow, I could have tasted
and smelled the freshness of that small piece you offered.
I felt nourished.
Your spearing eyes, your youthful appearances
A love like ours will be forever,
 My soul is in Accra.

Premium MemberWAITING IN LIMBO

WAITING IN LIMBO

Sitting on the muddy banks
Of faded realities,
Lingering in the spaces of time,
Lost souls struggle:
Seeking another Dreamer.

Powering pawn brokers,
Tighten their mogering grasp
Beyond the setting sun;
Leaving frailed victories festering
And waning in winds of change:-

White opiates coagulate,
Flowing black dreams
Of mesmerized minds;
Oblivious to fading freedoms
Chained and rotting away:-

As time and life sag on,
Let’s not be as a drooping bosom
Sagging due to incised-bleeding;
Rather, let’s be as pregnant wombs
Breaking waters of liberating justice:-

Indeed, let’s scream renewed life,
Nourished keloid-ancestral-navels,
Waxed and hardened by sarcasm
Against the trumping-musky rhetoric
Streaming against democratic equity:-

Nature

I was lost in a place where there was no peace.
Though my heart was swallowed by the universe.
Birds sang a melody through the sky.
The forest was nourished by all of kinds.
The spirit of mother nature conquer, the wild.
"Nature, Nature"
The poetry of nature has fallen.
The spirit is conquering around the wildness.
Hope,time has no use.

Puzzled

You ask why I chose you.
I thought you knew!
I chose you like clean air
Because you refreshed my existence
I chose you like the ocean
Because you regulated the climate of my spirit

I chose you like the sun
Because you nourished my heart’s daily routine
I chose you like the soil
Because you filtered the waters of my life that keep me clean

I chose you like the sanctity of tears
Because you supported my focus and cleared my vision
I chose you like laughter
Because you elevated my mood and provided a mirror for my decisions

You ask why I chose you
Without you I was quite capable of becoming the best version of my soul
But together we merged two lives that rendered us one and whole
I thought you knew…my soul chose you

Premium MemberTHE ABSURDITY OF WARRING FOR PEACE

Evilly absurd,
Bombing lives doesn’t win peace;
Just wishful power:-
War and peace are antonyms.
You can’t make them synonyms:-

War can not bring peace,
Just collateral damage,
And high death rates:-
Peace comes with labors of love,
Nourished by God’s healing grace:-

War only knows hate,
Bombing homes, schools, and churches,
Filled with peaceful lives:-
When will this world ever be
A world rooted in love’s peace?!

I
wither
as I wait,
but any hope
I had is waning.
My darling - my sunshine
who once nourished my spirit
with so much tenderness and care -
days have become weeks since you’ve called me.
Loveless now, your thirsting rose is dying.
