A long time ago on a hot summer's day,
a fox was out strolling his own merry way.
He came to an orchard with blossoms so fine
and, looking up, saw grapes on a high, lofty vine.
"Ah, the very thing to quench my thirst" said he,
with an air that was so nonchalant and carefree.
Walking back a few steps, he took a run and a jump
but just missed the bunch, then landed with a thump.
He tried again and again but made no progress
and became frustrated at his lack of success.
He tried one more time but, to his dismay,
realized it was futile and so walked away.
With his nose in the air and an angry glower,
he grumbled "I am sure that those grapes are just sour."
So please remember these words and have no regret:
It is easy to scorn what you can't get.
I went on a bike ride, I was hyper-alert
I had just emerged from the mental ward
I thought I was despised, felt wounded and hurt
But I lied to the doctor to get out the door
For the first miles I felt the wind in my hair
Then a car drove by, I heard a loud jeer
It was just a dog with his nose in the air
I had mistaken my species, all was clear.
Two miles on, an ambush from the side
A loud sneer, I felt sudden stress
On closer look, a Downs Syndrome guy
I let out my breath, stress got less.
Got into Kingston, car passed, a shout
"Go Home" it said, and then passed by
Was this true, should I block it out?
Why riff off a chord, if the chord don't apply?
Ten miles later, a hand reached out of a car
Tried to push me off the road
They failed, but threw my mind's door ajar
Stress climbed, I felt I would explode.
I crested a hill, a view opened wide
Then I started to think, was it all the same?
Why get anxious, on this scenic ride?
My illusions and theirs - it' was all a game.
Bunch of love
**Come, sit in my car.**
**I'm an aimless wanderer offering a gift.**
**I'm weaving the stars of our destiny.**
**My appearance is deceptive, but I do my work thoroughly.**
**I didn't fall from the sky, nor am I a flower from a wand.**
**I'm simply someone's beloved.**
**I respect people, I don't like those with a nose in the air.**
**I keep old friends close, I don't break hearts.**
**I have old remedies for broken hearts.**
**Who will be my virtuous wife?**
**All the dreams I've seen with my eyes open are real.**
**Everything is yours if you close your eyes.**
**Don't let the car slip away, my lady.**
**Come, sit in my car.**
**A smile like a crow, ladies.**
**With love always,**

Looking at us with the gesture of impudence
Seeing us often can't be an coincidence
Cup and sign in our hand, asking for help
Hungry, desperate and have not slept
Reached out to hug your family with a tenacious grip
Looking at us like we're contagious; hand over lip
Pass by quickly, nose in the air with a frown
Please, don't glare at us whilst we're down
So, don't patronize us with your dry, "Sorry"
Of course we don't matter; that's your story
Take time out to hear some of our stories
Many of our lives had plenty of glories
Frequent the area, get to know some or all us
Next time it can be a chat instead of disgust
Respect us, we respect you
We matter just as you do
Unity starts within the community
Love and compassion unite humanity!
Whoever is talkative
talks even underwater...
Whoever acts like a duck in the pond,
doesn't live life... he shows off in it!
Whoever lives with his nose in the air,
doesn't even know how shallow he is.
how mistaken he is,
and so clueless...!
Whoever loses sleep over someone,
is the one who embarks on a nightmare,
instead of a good dream...
Losing sleep over something,
is worrying while daydreaming...
Sleeping with the chickens,
is going to bed early, to wake up early!
Dorothy had a stubborn opinionated doll named Mare.
Mare had a persnickety attitude, her nose in the air.
I am taking in boarders, she told the stunned Dorothy.
So far I have signed on two, with a possible three.
Dorothy was intimidated by this doll named Mare.
She told others, but they laughed, for they did not care.
How can I get rid of her? She asked her cousin, Jer.
He decided to talk to this creature, named Mare.
Jer ended up signing up to become a boarder too.
So now she had three for sure, said Sue.
Sue is Dorothy’s cousin who also tried.
But came away angry, with her hair all fried.
What happened to your hair? I asked mad Sue.
That doll gave me a bad perm, and I tipped her too!
Why would you tip her then? I asked Sue. How can that be?
Because, she told me, her scary attitude intimidated me.
Pepper the pink and red poodle with her nose in the air
Walked down the runway without a concern or care
She knew the peons were watching her swag
But barely gave them even the hint of a wag
These dogs are beneath me, I am the great one, she thought
Pepper the Perfect did what she needed, did what she ought
She marched down that runway in an elegant way.
Not caring about the mongrels who were watching that day
Her reds and her pinks were made by famous fashion designer Glee.
He only designed for a few actresses and film stars as important as she.
Pepper had given him his start, and she did this as a favor to him.
He had asked her to smile, but that would have cost extra with vim.
Like a deadly drug, it makes us dance
Put our nose in the air, turn our backs .
Craven souls, want another chance.
Walking over friends, we call hacks?
On, yes we sign, love, but mean it not!
How many trophies can I win ~ I want!
More flattery, please, as we do begin,
On this racetrack of pride, self loved sin!
Classical poets here, very despised.
Only new poetry forms have a place.
We want only our names in the skies.
Self-aggrandizement, a sad disgrace.

So long ago,
When I was a lass
Boys would whistle,
As they walked past
I would blush scarlet,
To the roots of my hair
And hurry by,
With my red nose in the air
I am now in my dotage.
I don't think about men,
Who am I kidding?
I do now and then.
I have someone special,
My husband and best friend,
He adores me still, even though
I have gone around the bend.

He has an arrogance that can be felt.
He’s big and burly not petite or svelte.
Smoking two packs a day
Frightens good girls away
And his breath smells like moldy tuna melt
Chastised by neighbors and his old mother
Smells like moldy socks of my teen brother
Puts his nose in the air
Attitude is unfair
Rubs us all wrong one way or another
My dog stuck her nose in the air, inside the house
Then she started huffing and puffing
She can always detect things from a distance
Then she paced, ran and starting barking on the porch
I went to see what it was and it was a young black bear
It was walking through the trees near my yard
It went to the street and a car came along and stopped
The bear went up a tree for a while as they watched
By the time I got outside, it was on the ground
It took a quick photo, before it saw me and ran away
It was a special detected sighting from my dog today

Stealthy, hidden within the shadows of night.
Camouflaged, out of mind, out of sight.
Stalking, awaiting for the chance to strike.
Pounce without warning, claw and bite.
Devour, and satisfy my appetite.
Survival of the fittest, in the jungle under the moonlight.
Howls, growls, and other sounds of the fight.
In the land that has bloody realities about life.
I am what I am, a beast of fright
Nose in the air, sniffing out hungers next sacrifice.
I spotted a lady in Looe,
who slid as she stepped in some poo,
her nose in the air,
she sat on a chair,
and sniffed at the mess on her shoe.
'It's brown and it's squidgy,' she sighed,
'and smells like a ferret has died.'
She wiped on the seat,
and walked up the street,
still stinking, but most dignified.
written 7th March for Tania's double limerick contest
A black man passing by smiled at a white girl.
The white girl ignored him and stuck her nose in the air.
A white girl smiled at a black man as she was passing by
He did not smile back he did not dare
A black man and a white woman passed by looking
At each other with eyes full of love without a care.
So there!
