We can’t escape it, don’t know what to do.
People at each other, guess it’s overdue.
Yeah, we’ve read about it.
Is it here? I doubt it,
but I’m here to tell ya that it all is true.
Cuz the world’s falling fast into decay.
Makes me wanna stand up, shout to say -
I don’t really know man!
Where we gonna go man?
We can’t keep going on and on this way.
They make us think there is a choice to make.
They control both sides, why won’t we awake?
Why we wanna to play it’s
such a stupid game it
has us on a path to the same mistake.
Cuz ya know it’s all been done before.
Every empire’s been brought to the floor.
Why we never learn man?
Getting played each time and
every time the scale and the cost is more.
So, now it’s time for the final scene.
Every story ends if you know what I mean.
Nothing’s gonna stop it.
Everyone is lost with
no way to escape cuz… we’ve all joined a team.
Ether: 13: 20-21
Poet’s sleep
with their memories
to hate or to love
Voices unanswered
the night’s
turtledove
Darkness remembers
what daylight
forgets
As dreamers
reenter
— what twilight begets
(Dreamsleep: April, 2018)
A heavy ear
an empty heart
Breathless voice
with eyes that dart
Love forsaken
rebirthing pain
Hope redundant
—lost refrain
(The New Room: January, 2024)
The time that I spent dazed,
Now trapped in this downward maze,
I never looked for escape anywhere.
Every single step,
I didn't care for help.
I never looked for escape anywhere.
All the destruction follows me
So God watched Satan oversee
As lost souls on my Journey whispered
"Don't stop believing." - I did
I raise my head high
Hoping for clearer sky
But night is stable.
A homeless man
with a cell phone
connected to his pain
Desperation
on his speed dial
—muted inhumane
(30th Street Station: November, 2023)
I run, sprint, I jump,
They chase, there're catching up,
Keeps going, then black.
~ Written with a certain poetess in mind. ~
we can't run away from ourselves ~ there's no place our hearts can escape
us
In dark corners of the city,
old shadows are found
In dark corners of the city,
premonitions abound
In dark corners of the city,
the doors swing one way
In dark corners of the city,
your soul becomes prey
In dark corners of the city,
where hope goes to die
In dark corners of the city
—your dreams say goodbye
(Dreamsleep: October, 2021)
mother-in-law’s tongue
Sending up new brittle shoots
barbs beyond the grave

Alone with my thoughts
—the devil makes three
(Dreamsleep: February, 2021)
You can't run away from the ashes
—as their memory burns from within
(June, 2020: University Of Pennsylvania Hospital)
Run or die
Faster, faster
The will to run wanes
Write or die
Poem after poem
Though I'm ever sadder
The leopard can't escape the zoo
No matter how much he has plotted
I'm guessing that the reason was
Because he'll always be spotted!
There’s one place I go to, quite frequently I may add.
It’s quiet and secluded from everything, but most importantly, everyone.
No one knows of this room,
The color is taupe with bare walls all except one picture.
The floor is slate and cold to the touch.
This box seemed to get bigger the longer I was there
But the air seemed to get thinner by the second.
One chair. One picture frame. And no door.
No means of escape.
The chair, posed so that you are gazing into the picture frame.
Sitting. Staring. Thinking.
The picture, hanging on the wall, mocking you.
Look at it closer. What is it? What does it mean? What do you see?
The longer you look the more distorted it becomes.
You throw your head into your hands and try to catch your breath.
The room, getting bigger. The air, getting thinner.
Slowing raising your head from the grips of your hands you look into the frame,
Only this time, it’s not a picture.
Looking back at you, in the eyes, is yourself.
Sitting. Staring. Thinking.
You and only you.
Nothing there, no one there, just your thoughts.
Sitting. Staring. Thinking.
I hunt, I stalk, I kill
Unless someone says otherwise
Even if someone payed me to spare you
Running would just be unwise
Jabba put a bounty on your head
I won't stop until I am paid
And make sure you do as I say
Since you are not good to me dead
