THE STAGE IS MY PAGE
I don’t write poems—
I live them/
Jazz is my heartbeat/
poetry my voice/
truth my purpose/
I don’t sing the words/
I paint them/
in sound, soul/
and hip-spoken stories/
Man, that’s the vibe/
I speak the music/
all day, every day/
words, beats, people, power/
Real voices change the world.
Dreams don’t work/
unless you do/
Speak it/
Live it/
Love it/
Every verse is a movement/
a music poster for the mind/
The mic is my pen/
The stage is my page/
Encapsulated inside lyrics that glow,
fire this hot will never be assuaged.
Love insists on the beat of drums
backed up by solid electric guitar.
Fire this hot will never be assuaged,
turned on and turned up to purple
every speaker sticks to your blood.
Love insists on the beat of drums
to drown what sits inside so thick.
Once its held can it ever truly fade?
Backed up by solid electric guitar,
our story shines for a crowd to feel.
In the burning ballad hides its soul.
I was sitting on a three legged stool
Somwhere in the middle of ninteen seventy
nine.
Milking, by hand,a cow in the byre
When I heard, Gangsters ,
A song by the Bristish Ska band,
The Specials
On the transistor radio.
And it's like when you fall in love
Or when you recieve an unexpected gift.
Music is the gift that,
Keeps on giving.
Im forever falling in love
Over and over again.
Yes, Deirdre Harrison, yes
I sang that song to my son
for years before he asked me to stop
I love you too,
Billy Holiday
"I'll always think of you that way"
in the way I hope my son
remembers me
when the trumpet plays its solo
and lesser sounds stop
This cabaret has cleared out
and the carousel has stopped turning circles
but "when the night is new"
I will find the corners
of the moon
and the meaning
of a strangely shaped life
Dancing blind is what they called us,
we both had two left feet.
I moved on the dance floor,
then she followed me gracefully.
Awkward it became,
as they laughed at us.
We did not care,
as we held each other tight in love.
In love with each other,
in love with the rhythm of the music.
In our last big turn,
our canes showed.
The room went silent,
only the music could be heard.
Now they knew we were blind,
but not by the music or by our feet.
The train pulling into the dance floor
Upbeat galore

Sing a song of adventure today
It's Midwinter time of the year
Solstice ~~ snow is falling, everywhere
Colours are pearl white, so bright
Everywhere my eyes do look ~ extreme beauty
Sparkles all over trees, oozing light
How I love this time of year
Mirror ~ mirror on the wall
What is my emotion today ?
Mirror replies " it's courage my friend "
" your strong as a lion, especially when problems arrive "
So let us all sing a song of freedom
Every season of year ~ not just at Midwinter
The quaking aspens shake their silver leaves
like paper bells as evening breezes
dance across the lake's gray surface,
stirring gentle swells
that splash the pebbled shore.
The coo-hoo-hoo of owls is like a love song
softly sung among the shadows
of the branches high above.
The descant of the sighing breeze,
the rustle of the trees,
the owls' low harmonies accompanied
by the timpani of rocking water
on the bow of anchored boats
are all melodic notes that play
the unique music
of the evening.
The strings of my Stradivarius
have waited too long
for you
Crows are breaking the sky
with frantic, angry feathers
and lawn mowers cut straight lines
with the raucous killing of sound
Quieter, more sinuous
strings should fill the thirsty air
Play ‘Promontory’
by Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman
so I can feel
the meaning behind things
through metal
and resonant wood
You control the bow
like a desperate, dying dancer
creating new colors
through the rubbing
of horsehair to steel
and goat gut
Beautiful things sometimes come
from raw origins
That I were your Stradivarius
dew trickles, rinsing dusty leaves
cleansing the dark despair who grieves
exchanging daydreams for nickels
rinsing dusty leaves, dew trickles
rushing thoughts, over mountain streams
for nickels, exchanging daydreams
oh, the tears, so tied up in knots
over mountain streams, rushing thoughts
blazing sunlight, erasing fears
so tied up in knots, oh, the tears
cherish the still of dawn so bright
erasing fears, blazing sunlight
gentling praise, love to which I’m drawn
so bright, cherish the still of dawn
weeping words beneath sun’s soft gaze
love to which I’m drawn, gentling praise
Find it in the song,
love that is long gone -
when a pretty smile
made you walk a mile.
It's still hiding there -
magic in the air.
Two bodies…
wild whispering bodies,
intertwined,
touching,
longing,
stirring,
desiring,
trembling together.
Huddled beneath the warm blankets
with hearts racing,
softly,
silky,
hot,
wet desires of love…
romantic,
mischievous,
alluring,
climactic…
deliciously singing
of desire,
of love,
of life!
is taking longer than I thought
as I play by pressing keys
to keep unfaltering time
with the chords
of the pressing keys
of the piano in me
I am still playing
atop the ocean,
mastering waves,
mastering music
mastering God
Across the Atlantic
is sure to be
the home
the woman in me
was meant to see
Simple being is what I worth the most
Any lofty ideals I won’t justify
I ditch principles and credos of those
Who are chosen to rule, born to lie
The existence I own makes enough
Foundation for the rest that I need
Like perceiving music, arts, feeling love
Taking care of the garden and weed
Hamlet’s question seems idle to me
Hope I don’t sound stiff or too proud
I’m your happy sad Jack - just to be
Is the most comfy thing I have found.
Love is a complex melody
a most divine soothing remedy
