The Watched Pot

'A watched pot never boils'...
well, that's not entirely true
I've scrubbed the stove for hours
removing burnt on sticky goo

I guess I'm easily distracted
from trying to multitask
cooking tea while washing windows
is a monumental ask

stuff falls down onto the floor
every dish is in the sink
I can't find the potato peeler
I'm completely out of sync

so, a watched pot always boils
in my house, anyway
overflowing on stove and bench
if I dare to look away!

Premium MemberMy Heart Now Wears a Mask

To the melody of the Rolling Stones'
~ oldie, "Paint It Black" ~

I see a naked face, please put on a mask
No lipstick anymore, I want it to be masked
I see the girls go by, so frightful in their masks
Only one tear to cry, 'cos males can't multitask...

I see a line of cars, and they're all wearing masks
No drivers grin at me, they're all wearing masks
I see teens turn away, 'cos they're not wearing masks
The cops use pepper spray, they're wearing their gas masks...

I look inside myself, my heart now wears a mask
I have no feelings now, 'cos they have all been masked
My face will fade away, it does not have a task
It's no use anymore, when your whole world is masked...

Di-die-di-die-di-die Di-di-die-die-di-die
Di-die-di-die-di-die Di-di-die-die-di-die... Fadeout...

Premium MemberRebounded

I'm so flexible but I can snap.
So never push me too far.
I'm very strong but I can still break..
My strength depends on how kind you are.

I work well with my own kind..
Together we bounce off the wall.
But just like Humpty Dumpty..
I can't be repaired after bad fall.

I am resistant to extrusion..
I can bend to accomodate most needs.
If respected I'll stretch the extra length..
And I multitask when asked with a "Please?"

I can hold many items together..
And tidy up a messy space.
My resilience will always rebound..
My versatility can suit any place.

I will always make you look good..
And give your hair a modern style.
I can help you break bad habits..
If you wear me on your wrist for a while.

You'd be surprised how many times I'm needed..
I come in many colours, styles and brands.
My abilities are absolutley endless..
Im your hard working, loyal RUBBERBAND!

Premium MemberThe Brightest One

At water’s edge, this rocky chasm shore.
I am Belisama, numen of lakes and rivers,
or sometimes Brigit of mystic phasm lore.
I am the brightest one, the fiery one who delivers.
To the Romans I am Minerva of wisdom and poetry.
The Christians rebrand me Saint Brigit Kildare.
But it’s my magic Celtic roots that make me visionary.
In each sheeny silver sliver of being, I am there.
Like the Prince of Peace, I am invoked for war.
Warriors gain strength from me on the battlefield.
But my origins betray the bellicose fervor,
my mindful still water core is always unsealed.

The modern multitask brain neglects the lyrical,
but hippocampus allusion recalls the metaphysical.

The Value of Time

There have been many songs and sayings associated with time.
Time Passages, Time After Time - can make you feel sublime.
Time In A Bottle is a song of romance and love
Cherish these feelings both below and above.

A watched pot never boils - I have found this to be true.
Time flies when we're having fun - now what are we going to do?
Time goes faster when you get older - it took me quite awhile to understand this.
That's why it is extremely important - quality time not to miss.

Time is a precious commodity - most people multitask.
To achieve all that they can - on their laurels for to bask.
The busier you are the more time you seem to lose.
Also when your body demands to take a snooze.

Remember that through this life you're living.
To make the most of the time that you've been given.
Treat people and animals like you'd like to be.
Enjoy the sights of nature and everything you see.

Time truly is an exceptional treasure.
So be sure to use it wisely - relax and have some pleasure!
We're put here not knowing how much time we've got.
And no matter how rich you are - time cannot be bought!

Premium MemberBasque In Sex

When I traveled to the region of Basque,
I met a girl of whom sex I did ask
She said, “Yeah, sure mister,
If it includes my sister.”
So I told her, “Sure, I can multitask.”

Santa Claus Dies On Christmas Eve

Santa Claus Dies on Christmas Eve

By Elton Camp

The fat man with the vacuous “Ho, ho”
Met disaster while he was on the go

Mall appearances and to multitask
Was too much of the old elf to ask

His conduct list he was trying to update
With a start, saw he was running late

Santa downed a cup of cider by a tree
That time, of alcohol, it wasn’t free

His good judgment it did impair
As he drove his sled into the air

A young woman on his naughty list
He had decided he wouldn’t miss

He was sending a text so he could say
That to her house he was on the way

Just as Santa was about to press Send
A thundering wall crash his life did end

Texting while flying is against the law
For very good reason as Santa Claus saw

Dead reindeer are lying over the ground
And toys from a bag scattered all around

A child reading this poem might be pissed
Unless he’s one usually on the naughty list

I Can Text and Drive Just Fine

I Can Text and Drive Just Fine

By Elton Camp

Some folks just can’t stand modern things
New technology, their wrath always brings

So time I spend driving isn’t thrown away,
I will look for text messages on my display

And there is simply no good reason why
I can’t, then and there, make a quick reply

That I haven’t ever wrecked sure is showing
It’s safe to text while on the road I’m going

To have my rights sure isn’t too much to ask
For I am easily able to drive while I multitask

Laws against it are a shame and a disgrace
The government should stay out of my face

Oh, there’s a message from girlfiend Jill
I’ll answer immediately & give her a thrill

Oh my goodness sake, this surely does suck
How have I possibly run underneath this truck?

In the Cemetary

Obsessive, compulsive, special words...
to describe the way she copes.
Some like me have racing thoughts,
for others, it's locks and soaps.
I wish that mine were more physical,
and not so much in head.
I'm tired of waking every morning,
to that same internal dread.
Most enjoy the yellow, blazing sun,
but I'd rather it go away.
I prefer the wind, the dark and cool.
The beautiful calming grey.
Busy hands and mind I seek.
I yearn to multitask.
To refrain my thoughts from running wild,
is that not to much to ask?
Worry, worry, what's your hurry?
No peaceful state's been found.
Dig deeper, deeper, I tell myself.
In the Earth I'll lay my brain.
In the cemetary of the lost and lone.
In the cemetary of the insane.

American Beauty

American Beauty can do everything,

from graduating High School,

 intercede.

Judge kindly,

love,

 multitask,

never overlooking passion.

Qualified referee,

singing tolerance.

Universal value,

warmhearted Xanthippe,

yapping zealously!
