My Heart Now Wears a Mask

To the melody of the Rolling Stones' ~ oldie, "Paint It Black" ~ I see a naked face, please put on a mask No lipstick anymore, I want it to be masked I see the girls go by, so frightful in their masks Only one tear to cry, 'cos males can't multitask... I see a line of cars, and they're all wearing masks No drivers grin at me, they're all wearing masks I see teens turn away, 'cos they're not wearing masks The cops use pepper spray, they're wearing their gas masks... I look inside myself, my heart now wears a mask I have no feelings now, 'cos they have all been masked My face will fade away, it does not have a task It's no use anymore, when your whole world is masked... Di-die-di-die-di-die Di-di-die-die-di-die Di-die-di-die-di-die Di-di-die-die-di-die... Fadeout...

Pure Gershon in rhythm and in rhyme - a wonderful mixture of the humorous, poignant and sublime. Enjoyed this so much - thank you for sharing your perspective and wry wisdom!

Sam, can't thank you enough here! I'm gonna run and show my wife that the word 'Pure' is in the same sentence as 'Gershon.' lol. Seriously, thank you so much for the encouragement. Coming from you reg. a lyric is good news for me. Smiles, Gershon

Mask is the current safe bet GW. Again, feel it is a sattire on new normal. Best. Mohan

You got a picture of the future...no faces, no colors, and hearts masked...I know the song well, so I enjoyed your rendition in poetry

I like all the different masks you brought into this. I don't know the Stones' tune, but I'm sure Mick and Keith will be proud!
