Happy Hurt Day

You’re gentle, judgemental,
A freak in sheep’s disguise
Yet in some ways you’re burdened by self sacrifice,
You’re obsessive, compulsive,
Afraid to let me go
You’re afraid of what’s left of you,
If you have not my hand to hold

You know I love you,
But it’s time to move on
Take a fall, and crash out, if I’m wrong
Be scared, I’ll hold you,
If again our paths may intertwine,
Someday you’ll see me smile,
But now is not your time

So I guess we have little left to say,
But happy hurt day,
Let’s eat our heart ache
We’ll bake ‘till we can’t feel
Lind’s eat your cupcake,
Made out of mistakes
Let’s wrap up what’s concealed

‘Cause it’s your birthday,
But not anymore
Since you chose the hurt held door
So happy hurt day,
Look, I baked you cupcakes
Blow out your candles,
Close the door

Premium MemberLittle Girl

It hit me just today
I saw her in a whole new way
Birthday dinner, just her and I
A thought brought a tear to my eye
Has always been "my little girl"
Now she's about to face the world
Seen her grace of a woman before
Now seeing so much more
Just a girl of seventeen
Trying to find life and what it will bring
Overnight, a woman I see
Transformation into elegance and beauty

No longer a child to hold
She faces life with courage so bold
All grown up, she has no fear
Only memories remain of yesteryear

Last year to find herself true
Final shred of "little girl" for me to cling to
For soon she won't need mom anymore
When she walks through life's front door

So fulfilling- love to watch her grow
Still painful when I have to let her go
I know she is becoming the butterfly
Spreading her wings so she can fly

When I can't weather the storm
Many beautiful memories to keep me warm
This will help see me through
Into her future, she finally grew
She will always be a little girl to me
Her mother- I am proud to be

A young babe was born in the middle of the month of May.
She lost her mother in a sad way days before her first birthday.
To this day and from now on we miss her in every single way.

Eyes wide, beady blue. With skin of silk, pink and new. A pea-sized gift, oh how you grew.

You know me, and I know You.

Dimpled cheeks and Puckered lips, Glossy hair so dark and thick. The littlest chin curved into a dip.

The Lobes of your ears sit neat and dinky, I inhale your scent, so fresh and pure, I watch as you sleep and so peacefully snore.

I know now for sure; that motherhood is what I was made for. Finding my purpose to take care of you, A life fulfilled to my core.

Hello, Daughter whose name is Darcy.

Welcome to our family, we all will treasure, You will be loved endlessly, such a love without measure.

It will almost be time we head home. Two sisters await and sit excitedly together. Meeting each other for the first time ever is a moment I will cherish and remember forever.

Looking up at your mum, please feel no fear, as the sniffling tears you see and the crying you hear, are simply ones of joy that you are finally here.

Premium MemberBiography of Marina - a birthday poem for my mum

Marina, Motherina, Baba, Mum!
Reflect upon what your life has become:
Born in Harbin to refugee Russians,
Tossed out by Mao, with mild repercussions.

Aussie girl, country girl, raised by grandmas,
And grandpa and parents (both pains in her ****).
Small school, to high school with penguin-ed nuns,
Bespeckled and bikeless - childhood is done!

Went off to college at Melbourne Uni,
Made friends, stole a goat and earned a degree.
Entered the workforce for airliner doomed,
Later a teaching position assumed.

Married a beardy fresh in from Hungry
(also a Russian circuitously)...
Moved to the suburbs - East of the border,
Had a few children (not in that order).

Two in-laws out back, who helped with offspring,
Replaced by her mum, who started writing.
Son and two daughters, she raised to adult,
Some better than others - not all her fault.

Each offspring took flight, with their other half.
All but the youngest, who forged her own path.
Some grandkids were born, they grew up a bit,
Throw in some church stuff and that's about it.

Premium MemberMilestone a daughter's 16th birthday

Today marks a milestone
Highlighting life's style shown
A classy, sophistication few women have ever known
An aura shining brightly that is all her own
No longer a child, into a woman she has grown
All the beauty, grace, & intelligence she has shown
Prepares her for the day she must stand on her own
Does she realize she will never face this world alone?
A mother's love is a strength that is written in stone
Forever, will a mother's bond remain a skipping stone
Guiding her daughter as she journeys into a world unknown
An elegant lady transcends from the childhood she has outgrown
Like a mighty Queen sitting atop her ornate throne
Anywhere is everywhere, captivating all places through which she has blown
An Angel, she rises above the challenges out of which she has flown
On a pedestal she will forever emanate radiance outshone
Destynee, an alluring beauty the world has never known

A mother's plea

I can't believe you are now seven
In a blink of an eye you will then turn 18
And maybe the next morning when I wake up
You will soon outgrow my lap

You're my sweet little girl full of charm
Soon I won't be able to carry you in my arms
So as you grow just a little older from today
I hope you will head your mother's plea

To please know you don't have to be great
That it's okay to keep trying you just
got to have faith
And when the world is trying to tell you what to do
May you keep yourself, pure and true

That when everything seems tiring learn to take a breather
In your family's embrace you always have a shelter
That you have support in everything you choose to do
And our prayers are always with you while you make your dreams come true

And no matter how much you've grown
Know that wherever you are, you're never alone
And though you are free to explore your own
Please know that there's always an open path back home

To my dear Sammie.
Happy 7th birthday my love

It's the Day Before Your Birthday

It's the day before your birthday
By Michelle Morris
29/10/2023

It's the day before your birthday
It's the day before you came
We were still one being
Hearts beating inside my frame

Like a painting by the Masters
You were me and I was you
Together a magical creation
That God blessed with our truth

The truth that we are One
The truth that we are All
The truth that we are Wonderful
The truth that we are Magical

It's the day before your birthday
It's the day before you were born
I loved you before you arrived
And I'll love you forevermore

Like the Universe unfolding
You and I are entwined always
Together our love shines like the Heavens
As God blesses us each day

Each day we know each other
Each day we live and dream
Each day we love and grow
Each day we create meaning

It's the day before your birthday
It's the day before your time
I loved you from the moment I knew
That you were to be my precious child

Blessings and best wishes
For a very happy birthday indeed
I hope you feel my hugs and kisses
And my love sent via Angelic beings

Baggage

“Baggage”

Baggage collected
scooped up in the arms
of strange angels

the unexpected
expected
some time

will deliver
the poetic

in humerous

Oh Mama, I Miss You

In memory of my friend's mama who passed away recently. My deepest condolences and prayers. Hugs and love.

Oh mama, I miss you
By Michelle Morris
13/12/2022

Oh mama, I miss you
I wish that you were here
It's my first birthday and Christmas
Without your love and care

I know it seems selfish
To want you back right now
'Cos you were in pain
You needed Heaven's power

You're resting up with God
His angels and our ancestors
You're up there with souls
Who've learned so much already

Could you impart some wisdom
A way to navigate this mess
Our lives are so very complicated
Even though we try our best

You can see I'm really trying
But sometimes it's pretty tough
I want to curl up in a ball
And forget that I have to get up

I'm grateful for my family
Their love and light helps me heal
But I still miss your essence
With every single part of my being

Oh mama, I miss you
Each and every day
This winter is so much colder
Without you warmth and grace

Premium MemberMy Mother, My Enemy

My mother never knew the real me.
She never took the time to talk to me.
She didn't ask about my wishes,
Hopes, dreams or desires of the future.
Both of my parents worked so,
I cooked, cleaned took care of my,
Siblings like the slave that I was.
I had a secret when I was 10 years old,
And I told no one.
I came home all happy.
My mother yelled at me,
I said but you said I could go,
To the birthday party,
She just turned around and left.
My father came up and knew,
I love you no matter who you love,
As he kissed me on the forehead.
He said come with me,
I wanna teach you about cars.
I smiled and I was so happy.
My mother came out yelling,
About me being out there,
And my father said she's fine.
Why does she hate me?
She doesn't, she's jealous,
Because your everything,
She will never be.
That was the first real thing,
That my father taught me.
Heard my mother say she's,
Always been daddy's little girl.
My daddy laughed and said,
Don't you forget it!!
My daddy said you have to realize,
She will never be like you.
She is her own person,
You have to accept that.
She never did.

Premium MemberMy Eight Year Old Straightened Me Out

Do not….
I repeat…
Do not not not not not
Have brand new carpeting put in
The same day as a rain storm and an 8-year-old girl's slumber party.

I am usually the fun-loving, happy, excited birthday girl’s mama.
I was yelling my head off within hours as thirteen girls tromped mud
onto my brand new carpeting
in the dining room where the sliding glass doors were
through the living room
up the stairs and into the bedroom.

My eight-year-old daughter straightened me out.
Remember Mom, all of these girls are not as smart as I am.
I can tell them and you can tell them, but they are excited.
Some of them have never been to a slumber party.
They need a bit more fun and less drama from you.
I stopped yelling at that point, feeling badly about my behavior.

Premium MemberRemembering Mom

Balanced and perfect!

Always standing up for me.

Teaching me manners. Oh, how I fussed!!

Having French braids every summer.

My shorts and tops had to match.

Teaching me to be proud to be and say, I was American

Reading poetry to me, when I was so verynyoung.

And teaching me words to songs.

You took me to top restaurants, not left at home.

You made sure I was in the best schools.

All the time we spent at the ballet dressmaker!

My eighth grade graduation at the Edgewater Beach Hotel.

Huge windows that faced Lake Michigan,so very tall.

Thank you for a suburban,,beautiful home.

You were a Mom, I was so proud of.

Loving to all, friendly, full of laughter!

At every event, you, most stunning woman in the crowd.

What a gift to me and to my daughter!

A source of pride and love, like no other!

We all love and miss you, Mom

             ~~~Your birthday, May 12th~~~
