Little Girl

It hit me just today I saw her in a whole new way Birthday dinner, just her and I A thought brought a tear to my eye Has always been "my little girl" Now she's about to face the world Seen her grace of a woman before Now seeing so much more Just a girl of seventeen Trying to find life and what it will bring Overnight, a woman I see Transformation into elegance and beauty No longer a child to hold She faces life with courage so bold All grown up, she has no fear Only memories remain of yesteryear Last year to find herself true Final shred of "little girl" for me to cling to For soon she won't need mom anymore When she walks through life's front door So fulfilling- love to watch her grow Still painful when I have to let her go I know she is becoming the butterfly Spreading her wings so she can fly When I can't weather the storm Many beautiful memories to keep me warm This will help see me through Into her future, she finally grew She will always be a little girl to me Her mother- I am proud to be
