A World Apart

Is this what we have become
a world apart
Why is there this hallowed blackness
emanating from the shrinking sun
leaving all blinking
as we wallow in the shadows

Why is your smile
smeared with a smirk
making all to shriek
marvelling at the marauders

Why the reeling smoke
With its’ mocking reality
taunting the future with friction
revering the reverend reveler
as the world reveals its’ second face

marvelling flowers

marvel at the vigorous blade of grass,
resistant to the worst storms,
marvel at the dandelion, offering a thousand treasures
To the bees of the county,
marvel at the hemlock flower, which could
poison ten ancient poets,
marvel at the plant world and its millions
of possibilities,

marvel at the fern, which does not tire
that winter,
marvel at how the butterfly marvels
on the corolla of digitals,
marvel at the yellow flowers, so numerous
and vain,
marvel at the capuchins, daisies,
Flowers loving you.

Marvel at the young oak tree, which defies a thousand reeds
in his old age,
marvel at the olive tree whose fruit inspired the Iliad
and many poems,
marvel at the hydrangea, dahlia, and forget-me-not
with shy petals,
do you inspire from the vegetable world, to never become
crazy or proud,
invite the bees in the garden of your imagination.

To my envy the trees told me

Flammable I’m nor dry tinder,
Scare me nor threaten of lightning,
Past autumn and chilly winter,
I look forward to the next spring.

I’m already left with few leaves,
Let worst of autumn’s fall arrive,
Go not by my dry woody frame,
The tree in me is all alive.

What if covered I’m with this frost,
Just around the corner is sun,
I see life well past all this change,
Every season to me is fun.

A meditating sage, no arid stem,
You had better go not by my lean frame.

Sonnet |01. 04.2025| tree, Nature, autumn, spring
Note: Many trees in India experience autumn and spring more than once a year. I watched two Peepal trees and one Neem in front of my house shedding leaves in just a few days and again acquiring them equally fast-- from a skeleton wooden frame to a tree with shimmering tender, light-coloured leaves in sun. A tree is always alive, full of life, no matter how it might appear. Looking at it and marvelling of its love of life, to an aging old man, in no mean envy, this sonnet happened.

Premium MemberUndergrowth with Two Figures - Van Gogh

Her face tilted up, so serene.
Marvelling at the vastness of the blue sky
As she walks arm in arm
With her fiancé,
Glowing inside,
Basking in the aura of love.
Their union, as strong
As the tall trees surrounding them.

The fragility of life—
Two souls walking as one
As they tiptoe through the dense maze of flowers,
The sea of yellow opens up at each step,
Radiant and beckoning,
Their scents wafting and tickling the nose.

His gait, so gallant
As he delights in the beauty beside him,
Holding on,
Together,
Forging
Ahead—
The stepping stones
Building a world for two,
In a field filled with light and hope.

Drifting, drifting we float, in azure abysses aglow
Drifting, drifting we glide, amidst aquatic artistry's flow
Drifting, drifting we go, where coral constellations grow

Swimming, swimming we surge, through sapphire seas serene
Swimming, swimming we swirl, where silent symphonies convene
Swimming, swimming we soar, as shimmering schools careen

Deeper, deeper we dive, discovering diverse domains
Deeper, deeper we delve, dreaming in diaphanous depths
Deeper, deeper we descend, dazzled by dappled daylight

Floating, floating we flit, through fragments of fantasies
Floating, floating we flow, as bubbles burst and breathe
Floating, floating we fly, transcending terrestrial ties

Marvelling, marvelling we move, in liquid labyrinths vast
Marvelling, marvelling we muse, on unity unsurpassed
Marvelling, marvelling we merge, with mysteries unsurpassed

Surfacing, surfacing we rise, souls saturated, serene
Surfacing, surfacing we return, beauty-filled, breathless, keen
Surfacing, surfacing we emerge, coral's call echoing between

Fictionally scientific

What if reality is like tightly pulled skin and the nothing is like spherical balls trapped
within its lattice
Is there more something or nothing
What if you could only travel backwards in time
If I could travel backwards in time
I would travel back 1 second before I discovered how to travel back in time and give up
Crunching on butterflies with my pair of Doc’s
If Mars ruled with an iron claw
would that be Martian law
Marvelling at my funny bugs you
See if Marty never came back would the films just be called back
Interesting non fact Blade runner was original called Skater
Said with dreamlike sheepishness
J C M won’t help you in a different reality
Does that mean a radioactive Peter bit a spider
in another universe
This looks wierd
If every reality exist surely that means there is one that doesn’t
Star Wars lied from the very first word
They actually met there was nothing close about it
What hug is the worst
Bear hug with a real bear especially if I was bare
Face it I am alien to your rules
And in french

Can invisible see themselves

Premium MemberMarvelling in the Pink afternoon

Marvelling in the pink afternoon, pretending
to crochet a drawstring. I’ve done it before,
at least once before, followed the pattern. Closed
the purse. I can’t nearly begin
to learn that not all things are meant
to bring pleasure to me…they are oft’ meant
to gift, to love, to let go
of. Don’t
pull too hard…enclose a piece of your heart
on a little toy ship…let the paper sailboat
head toward the pond-swan. Even
mom’s precious teacups sunk
to the glass bottom, broke
in pieces. Her words stay,
meaningful & meaningless.
She meant us siblings to cheek-kiss.
Dad’s eyes see through the glass bottom -
either smiling bright or sad if we fight,
so we mustn’t fight. Marvelling
in the pink afternoon, pretending
to pour tea. Laying linen
on familial laps. Kind cubes
of sugar, kerplunk, splash
about with leafy-hugs. the drawstring closes
over promising memories. Marvelling
in the pink afternoon, letting go of…

Granddads

A mop of white hair
Over a young old face
A pair of laughing eyes
Locked in a different place
As he tells his grandchildren
Tales of his youth
Each one guaranteed to be
Ninety percent of the truth.

He talks of a million years ago,
Really just nineteen sixty two,
And they look at him in
The way grandchildren do.
He tells of his adventures
Of his scraps and scrapes
Marvelling in his mind
At some of his escapes.

A grand daughter says
You’re telling fibs I think
He gives her a smile
And then a slow wink.
They all give him a hug
When it’s time for them to go
And he experiences thoughts
That only Granddads know.

He thinks of the joy, pains
And sadness they may know
And hopes they’ll all learn
As they mature and grow.
Life is such a gamble
And it’s a privilege to see
The continuance of his line
And how it’s going to be

She hated men

Hated everything about them

Bordering on the pathological

Hated the way they touched her

Hated the way they used her

She even hated taking their dirty money

She did like killing them though

Watching their power slowly ebb away

It was the ultimate org*sm

Definitely so much better than sex

She didn’t like the spurters

Underwear was so damn expensive

But she was beginning to perfect her technique

Directing the flow away from her

Learned strangely enough from a surgeon

He would have been proud of her

It was her breasts that caught his eye

The rest his imagination took care of

He had never done it blindfold before

It sure felt so sensual

God, he could feel the explosion building up inside him

She directed the open razor with total precision

Marvelling as his body went into spasm

God, the org*sm was out of this world

Definitely so much better than sex.

7. “Autumn leaves don’t fall; they fly. They take their time and wander on this, their only chance to soar.” Owens, Delia. Where the Crawdads Sing, Chapter 17: “Crossing the Threshold” (p. 124).

In Spring we are svelte and supple….youthful,
Summer brings our exuberant spirit to the forefront,
we dance, we waltz, we murmur our breathtaking
stories to each other!

Autumn tiptoes soon like a coy, veiled bride,
making us shiver with intriguing anticipation!
our colours turn so stunningly beautiful
we feel an ecstasy marvelling at our own lustre…
orange, scarlet, amber, tangerine!

oh my, fiery red hues envelop our sheen!
our prosaic existence fleets away,
we get intoxicated in a riot of colours!
begin to float in a sea of euphoria!

We float, we flutter.. we wander..
twirling, swirling, whirling in the air,
swooshing around the tranquil trees!
This is our only chance to soar above
our humble lives…we are not the prettiest flowers,
but we create a decoupage of kaleidoscopic
beauty, incomparable on its own!

Fortified Wine

In twilight between two Suns
You've decided to drink the fortified wine
To close your eyes
to think of better days
with Thyme in Caskets
and all in sundry
marvelling at saviours
that are nameless
in the forests of Broceliande
singing to sunlit air

Love Lost Then Love Found

Love lost that fiery feeling
babbling bitterness,
Much mundane coarseness came
pausing prime progress.
Though interval inspired
tantalising tone,
Where gracious grieving gratitude
brought the hungry home...
to forever fall for love again
rekindling sheer spark
with whispers wafting warming words
ignited from doomed dark.
Now, fuelled fire flames gears no games
yet drives desired dreams…
radiating rich romance
marvelling moonbeams.

Whilst In Space

Whilst in space
Slow-moving pace
Musical trilling tinkers
Tantalising sensations
Personally provocatively
Gently guiding me further
Deeper to a blissful state
Enchanting euphoric energies
Swirling and whirling within, without
Where sparkling lights shimmer
Illuminating brighter
Gazing in awe the striking beauties reflecting light
These moments I truly treasure though now
Marvelling whilst my heart pounds faster
If only you could see
Only, what I see
Would you then breathe deeply with me
and exhale the pain
To freely float
In unity
to peace
For other worlds await
Us...

Abundance of divine dimensions
Entries to celestial arrangements
Spiralling with no navigation
Security within is the essence of our perception
To release and liberate our spirits
Mine is here, Mine is there, everywhere
Embracing openly the greatness of all
Within my core from before and more
Timeless atmospheric freedom
Born again to be only
Again Born.

Living the Dream

Through the seasons in your life
What matters changes
In first flush of youth
Scholarly accolades count
Belonging in your social circle
The right trainers and hoodie
Maturity shifts needs and priorities
A good job,
Nice home, new car
Two point four children
A holiday in the sun
With greying temples
New desires dawn,
Focus changes
A slower burn
Less immediate
Horizons pushed farther
Appreciating each day
Of life and love
And sound knees
Marvelling at nature
And the new generations
Living the dream
No longer about material pleasures
More simple ones magnified
By the lens of time
And the knowledge
That each today is unrepeatable
And each tomorrow is precious

Dream Man

Longing for the man I’ve never met
his warmth and tenderness,
Arms around me to help me sleep
closeness to him makes me weak.
Drifting to a place of love
where passion flames suggestion of
Intimacy adoration
marvelling hearts sensation.
Security brings peaceful mind
comfort from bodies twined.
This here, I do adore
evolving fantasies of more…
Drifting now to sleepy land
back again to what we planned.
For here it’s not so lonely
fond memories to keep.
With my love and only
cherishing much sleep.
