Manana

On a path
of mindless
wander

To hope
is an unwoven
thread

In a life
of restless
longing

Tomorrow
in joy
— or in dread

(Dreamsleep: January, 2025)

Manana

I may have to double-down
roll up my sleeves
shake things up,
get mad at something - anything,
but it's Sunday
so I think I will put off
being pissed off
until Monday.

Premium MemberTo Get the Kinks Out Try This

Fairly sadly song song song
Wearily, cheerily, wrong, wrong, wrong
Sometimes I need to just do one of these
To get the kinks out
To see if I am alive
To chase away the sadness.
Banana Manana Yamana Hihanna.
Gong write, prong night, long, long, long.
Fairly sadly, song, song song.
I am so glad to get this
Out of my system
Today especially….
I think I understand Dr. Seuss better
With every silly keystroke.
Silly lets the sunshine in!

Translation of " Bésame Mucho " from the lyrics by Consuelo Velasquez

Refrain :

Kiss me longingly long
Kiss me, kiss me longingly long
As though this night has to be
The very last

Kiss me longingly long
Kiss me, kiss me longingly long
For seized am I with the fear of losing you
Losing you hereafter

(Refrain repeated twice)

I long to hold you close to me
While gazing deep into your eyes
Making us look as but one together
The thought nags perchance tomorrow
I'll have already gone far away
Far far from you

(Refrain repeated thrice)

For seized am I with the fear of losing you
Losing you hereafter

The original lyrics in Spanish :

Bésame mucho
Bésame, bésame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche
La ultima vez

Bésame mucho
Que tengo miedo a pederte
Pederte despues

(Refrain twice)

Quiero tenerte muy cerca
Mirarme en tus ojos
Verte junto a mi
Pienso que tal vez manana
Yo ya estare lejos
Muy lejos de ti

(Refrain thrice)

Que tengo miedo a pederte
Pederte despues

Why do I have an aversion to strings on a banana
Thought to myself while relaxing on my verandah
Kinda weird I'd say
Is it just me feeling this way
Perhaps I should see a psych, well perhaps mañana

Who Will Play With Me

Translated from Georgian into English by Manana Matiashvili

All that figurative language
I’ve acquired from you:
“Life is tough”,
“Sweet is the soul”,
“Sky’s the limit”,
“Truth will out”.
“Knowledge is power”,
“Weep and you weep alone”,
One can be “all at sea” sometimes,
“The heart of man is like waters of the well”,
“Guest is sent from God”,
“Let go and let God”…
And so on… and so many sayings
Am collating now into poems
And stitching stories…
But seems as if Alazani River
Has washed them out
And taken all the words.
Three years passed,
Hence our roles have changed,
I play the same games, mostly “housing”…
Just now am standing jammed
At juncture of the ground and sky,
Hesitating to choose direction, it means,
I have no idea to blow warmth up
Or to blow down…
Who will play with me with shifted roles?
The games named: “schooling”,
“housing” and “motherhood“?

Almost Totally Disable

Almost Totally Disable

Hurting knees had made her miserable,
Pain constant and amount considerable;
When  appears,
Did draw tears;
All of this her almost did totally disable.

Had told poets that I was a prima' done',
And they did say to me  hasta manana;
Was revealing,
Not appealing;
Can you imagine me married to Madona.

In service thought I should really enlist;
Ended up with too much gravity assist;
What did occur,
A bone spur;
Slowed things down and goals missed.

America is going to another Olympic,
Caused by somethng that is endemic;
Practice done;
Will have fun;
Has expanded and became systemic.

When Trump honorable flag unfurled;
Into trash can our flag he had hurled;
Lack of respect,
We did detect;
While wearing his orange hair curled.

Yet President Trump was surely the worst;
Love Netherlands and will give us a first;
Biggest fear,
Have him here;
Are definatly sure we would be cursed.

James Thesarious Hilarious Horn

While we had formed a frequent huddle,
Started to shot off another space shuddle;
We expressed,
Were impressed;
No one knew name and this did befuddle.

Santa Catalina Island

Island, I can see you - distant fine pearl.
We drop harbor anchor, music greets us.
Leis are given by a native grown girl.
We walk ocean street not using road's bus.
Hostel makes us welcomed showing no fuss.
Time includes glass bottom boat and day's swim.
We watch manta ray, intrusive old cuss,
thinking someone might soon try to spike him.
Aviary sanctuary, slope's rim,
bison grazing, cycling city's alleys,
total living, sharing life to stein's brim.
So " manana," we will make more sallies.
We will charter boat and troll as Zane Grey,
catching huge fish, I can write book someday.

Vamos a Intercambiar Nuestros Ojos

gatos rugieron
sombras in en el rio
encogidos
rostros hinchados
unarming la ignorancia
vamos a intercambiar
nuestros ojos
y escrutar el secreto
de sus almas
sumerja hasta la manana
antes de nacer

Searching For a Riff

Searching I was for a good riff,
Maybe like in 'Locomotive Breath',
So I called up my old pal Biff
But a cold, he had caught a death.

Now with Biff down and out,
I was left to go it alone;
“But blisters on my fingers!” To shout,
I mean I was down to the bone.

So to the bible open at page one,
For some guidance, why not?
But nary a riff would come
And to page two I never got.

Now a cup of inspiration taken,
I'm grooving to Carlos Santana;
'Soul Sacrifice' if I'm not mistaken,
Thinking there's always manana.

Godammit, where you at Biff?
I got all these words in my head!
Hey, hey, my, my I need a riff,
Drinking here by myself instead.

You can walk up to me and bring out the mexican in me
Bring out the rice and beans

Triangulo Amoroso

perdoname si te he fallado de palabra
o si he hecho algo que solo te causo drama

pues me has robado el corazon entero
y en las noches eres de el por certero.

que puedo decirle al corazon ya no la ames
seria como decirle al ciervo ya no brames.

Spring, Flabbergast Me With Your Scented Flowers

Spring, flabbergast me with your scented flowers:
show me the gracious lilies and flaboyant tulips
as they spent their time brightening lovers's eyes;
yes, open up your garden where the red sun dips,
and the voluptuous lovers hug and passionately kiss...
rising in me a desire that takes me back to youthful days!

Down the rusty path, flanked by pines and fir trees,
the blue-jay parched on the lowest branch, is quite and waits;
at exactly twelve o' clock he starts warbling as a siren wails...
we have become friends, and he inspires me to write melodies,
but without a pencil and music sheet I must retain those notes into this active brain,
until I get home and write them down while he shelters himself from he misty rain.

Spring, flabbergast me with your scented flowers:
show me the stately sunflowers and the wild roses
growing taller than any plant seen in the wind-swept wilderness
as the mariachis play their song to console a marchioness sitting in a breezy corner;
these aren't musicians found in a parade, they are peasants with colorful costumes...
soon someone will say," Alla manana, Segnora. " as the calm returns on the shore.
