my line of work
is space travel
those distances between stars
that's me
arranging all the loungers
around the hyper-pool
although
I'm only filling in

Sharks in the ocean, killer whales -
prevalence of predators in knee deep water,
all because men know better.
They, we - bring disaster to the shore,
to the salty, silty, haven
of children, couples, the old and young.
The fascination of jaws, rows of sharp teeth,
claws at our imaginations; not as lovely
a ride as a dolphin does bring; gladly
gambolling along with a friend.
Sharks bite, out for a midnight snack…
even in the sunny hours.
Back to the salty, silty, haven -
the vacation spot, vacated
or kept on the land, not
wanting to become surf and turf, not
wanting an arm or leg
to be separated in the foam,
in the thrill of the wave.
The wave washes onto the coconut beach.
Ebb and flow of romance.
Dark shadows, inviting
and dangerous. Riveting, breathless -
the tide is precipitous. Washed up,
a half-eaten board. Bored or not,
keep limbs on loungers, toes
out of the sea. Don’t tow the line.

Under the cover of daylight, beneath the mill
and hustle of teaming crowds; a need
and a life-grinding poverty
swept her down a wrong way.
She strayed into streets so narrow
entered them as a shadow-less shadow
stayed where rank rooms were rent by the hour
where tussled bedsheets her only ownership.
A small child might have slipped past
the ranks of pot-bellied loungers,
but the pimps were as thin as switch blades
and their eyes scavenged
for any walking flesh.
No one kidnapped her; abused her much,
she was taken by her own weakened self,
nabbed by an ever willing surrender.
Did she come to a dark end?
Only the flickering city lights
at the end of a day
can both ask and answer
that long searched for question.

Below the gray blah canopy
Suffering from bad attitude
and seasonal psychosis
The human race sprints
No finish line required
and Everyone wins gold
Music blaring
Bikini tops daring
Exposed guts not caring
Rooftop gogo dancer staring
At me
Ok, maybe that's vice versa
Its a poolside, post-graduate MTV Spring Break
Some of us much more "post" than others
The glaze and haze of Vegas
Sprawling in the manner built for Caesar
Decadence is the Neighborhood Watch
Where every citizen is
On patrol
On Patron
All far gone
Judgment
By them or ourselves
Left town for lent
Or excommunicated at the stake
Where loungers and readers
And tricksters and treaters
are one
Tighter than conjoined twins
playing with crazy glue in Texas heat
And the ways that used to be
And the ways we wish there were
And the ways we can rent by glass
Are included in the price of admission
Guilt not included
As everyone drops their towels
Hoping for someone to pick them up.

A torrent of emotional joy
Hazy sunlight and an opalescent sky
a cool breeze that rests gently
In mystical circles,
where the swing gently swings
a myriad of wings of song
This also sounds depressing.
perplexing ideas in my mind
Sun loungers replenish and revitalize
It was poured in the shape of barbed wire
The floods drive the rest away
Cleanse the fragile soil of hidden lies
Making bravery out of openness
Dragons raze dwellings.
I heard the murmurs under the bare twigs
While scratching the sky, tears flow
from the dismal, boulder-filled sky
Torrid foundation with fall-leaf stain
Love kept me going and bearing
That is all. I had grown up.
A sensual touch may be quite relaxing
surely exude timid shyness
People will admit advantage of you
to persuade you,
They truly helped

Aruba, Caribbean’s exclusive resort,
Fabulous in every way
A delightful place to honeymoon
an island playground
the people are accommodating, helpful and kind
World class dining
Fabulous dishes you cannot get anywhere else
be sure to nap, there is a fantastic night life
activities to suit loungers and hikers
the people are lovely, friendly, courteous
Aruba, the place to come and play
To relax and have fun
To make memories that will crush other memories
Caribbean’s exclusive resort
Where natives do whatever they can to get you to your Shangri-La
I highly recommend it
Would move there if I could take my relatives
For now, I am satisfied to visit
As many times a year as my purse allows
I will be back, friends! I will be back!

She Was Taken…
Under the cover of daylight, inside the hustling throng
of a grinding poverty.
She was swept away into a street so narrow
you had to enter it at midday as the thinnest of shadows.
A child might have slipped past the ranks of pot bellied
loungers, but she was fifteen and the pimps
were as thin as blades.
No one kidnapped her, she was taken by the
swirling heat of indifference
an ennui that barred ways for other ways to go.
Only the fast filling gutters can reach
to where she is now,
and even they cannot escape the dark dead-ends.

What would sly look like
would there be any foxiness
and the
what image brought to mind
a million clones
with black tie and white shirts
over used and unpretentious
would unused words
believe they are better
than the rest
Exquisite a diamond wall
that magnifies
exploding stars
as easy
lies back in oversized loungers
Enigma in a crowd frustrated
as it tries to explain itself
Love surrounded
has a sign around its neck
please no questions
Fear backed into a corner
startled
by surprise as he bashes
through the door
Life and death
share a joke
as on lookers
try to avoid there gaze
As and ifs
Ats and is's
Gather in a pack
Dream looks around the room
unsure its even there
Hope waits patiently at the door
Sentence starts a conga
as words take there place
And poem sees its face

The orange globe hung over the horizon ready to hand over the torch
To a waxing moon ready to watch over the cycle of disbelief and hope
An epilogue to old beginnings and fresh start to the calm of the evening
Ripples embraced the shore line of silent surrender in quiet composure
The bathers had taken their sunburn home for shower lotion and memories
Ice cream vendors had packed up their stalls for another season of soothing
Surf boards and wet suits were stored with striped loungers and parasols
Turrets gatehouses and drawbridges looked over moats for tides to resolve
Arrow slits had a last glance of dissolving rays onto solid keep’s sake
Inner wall curtain walls harbouring the chapel succumbed to imminent rise
Embattled prayers found places in souls and illusions of permanence
Stars mingled with comets on the canvass of ways milking the future
When the floodgates opened Tim only had a short stroll to his beach hut
Another night of solitude waited for sweet dreams and whirls of sands

A Holiday in Spain
Endless blue, no cloud in sight
Golden sands, with Gulls in flight.
Rolling waves and boiling surf
Pleasures of this spinning Earth.
Sparrows drink from sprinkler head
Fledglings squawking in their bed.
Never ending task of feeding
New young birds continue breeding.
Palm trees sway in gentle breezes
Ice cream in cold boxes freezes.
Fanta, Cola, tea and Whiskey
Couples with bare skin get frisky.
Buildings white and buildings dark
Rise starkly next to wooded park.
Beaches host some joyful screaming
Sun beds, loungers, owners dreaming.
Promenade sees couples walking
Local traders, constant stalking.
Along the way pass cafe and bars
Resting place, no sign of cars.
Hotel works like toasting fan
Go in pale, come out with tan.
Food and beer is always there
Drink too much and risk a dare.
Swimming pool so cool, refreshing
Children, shallow end are splashing.
Lazy River round the edge
Take deep breath and dive from ledge.
Time has come to wind our way
Luton, Heathrow, Gatwick say.
New friends farewell and sad goodbye
To home, our pets, our work we fly.

Sparkling light on windblown surface
Sun reflection motion purpose
duck's and seagull's bathe in gold
welcome breeze invite it's fold
Willow hang dangle yonder shore
watering flower on edge adorn
music so peaceful lulling effect
gracing wonderful beauty respect
Thin pillowed cloud float sky blue
nearly mirror lake wavelike dew
wind surfers paddle boats sun loungers all
enjoying the gift as golden ray's fall
Cry's of the gull's other high pitch shrill's
nearby splashing as the children thrill
different shade's of green and blue
those different shade's of me and you....
