Winds of Change

The orange globe hung over the horizon ready to hand over the torch

To a waxing moon ready to watch over the cycle of disbelief and hope

An epilogue to old beginnings and fresh start to the calm of the evening

Ripples embraced the shore line of silent surrender in quiet composure

The bathers had taken their sunburn home for shower lotion and memories

Ice cream vendors had packed up their stalls for another season of soothing

Surf boards and wet suits were stored with striped loungers and parasols

Turrets gatehouses and drawbridges looked over moats for tides to resolve

Arrow slits had a last glance of dissolving rays onto solid keep’s sake

Inner wall curtain walls harbouring the chapel succumbed to imminent rise

Embattled prayers found places in souls and illusions of permanence

Stars mingled with comets on the canvass of ways milking the future

When the floodgates opened Tim only had a short stroll to his beach hut

Another night of solitude waited for sweet dreams and whirls of sands
