All For the Love of Betsy

This is a story poem. I call, ALL FOR THE LOVE OF BETSY

ILL start this little story by asking a question, what is love?
They say there is all kinds of love.
This story is about a new kind of love.
I had two loves my girlfriend and I was in love with my car.
Now you might say that is strange to be in love with a car.
It is not me that is strange being in love with a car.
What is strange,is the strange behavior of the car.
Now I got you confuse, or you think IM just plain crazy.

Well my story really begins when my grandfather gave me 1955 OLDSMOBILE.
I was so proud of the car,I even gave her a name.I called her BETSY.
She was two tone yellow and black, she was a beauty.
I wash and waxs BETSY everyday.
I even carved a heart on BETSY dashboard.
I wrote in the heart,ALL FOR THE LOVE OF BETSY

About the time I had BETSY,I met my future wife BARBARA.
She also was a beauty.
This is where my little story starts to get strange.
TRUE BUT STRANGE.
BETSY seem to take on a life of her very own
When I was alone with betsy, she run like a jewel.
When BARBARA was riding in BETSY.
BETSY would run like a mule.

One night I had four flat tires.
Another night BETSY loss all her power.
I thought the cable on BETSY battery came loose.
NOTHING WAS LOOSE.
Whenever I played the radio it came in nice and clear.
Whenever BARBARA played the radio nothing came on but static.

The strangest part of the story when BARB and I was on a pinic.
We were sitting under a willow tree.
I carved a heart on the bark of the willow tree.
Inside the heart I wrote,ALL FOR THE LOVE OF BARBARA.
Just I like I in the heart I carved on BETSY dashboard,
ALL FOR THE LOVE OF BETSY

BETSY was parked on an enbankment.
We were sitting under the willow tree below the enbankment.
Some how BETSY hand break came loose
and BETSY started to roll down the enbankment.

BETSY crashed into the willow tree and scapeof the heart on the bark of the tree
where I wrote ALL FOR THE LOVE OF BARBARA.
BETSY burst into flames and was gutted out.
All except where I carved the heart on BETSY dashboard,
that I wrote ALL FOR THE LOVE OF BETSY.

BARBARA and I got married,
but as for BETSY,I never had a car quite like her again.
I dont know if you believe my story or think IM strange.
But do you want to know what is really strange,
LOVE IS STRANGE

What Is Love

What is love?
This sentence came to me one day.
What is love?
It’s when my spouse kisses me, you say
But is that what love is? Doesn’t it have more than one meaning?
What about when you get home and your kids are cleaning?
Isn’t love when you leave your puppy at home all day,
but when you get back, he kisses you anyway?
Isn’t love when you're parents put food on the table,
or when they make soup cause you're sick and not able.
How about when you're friends play with you on the slides,
even when they wanna do something else, like roll down a hillside?
Is love when you go through a breakup,
but you're friends bring you ice cream and wipe off your makeup.
I thought love was when you got in a fight,
but you admit you were wrong and then reunite?
Is it when someone cries for you,
or when you always have someone to fall back onto.
How about when your mom sings you to bed,
or what about when your husband still loves you with bed head?
Is love when your spouse tells you you're beautiful,
or when you get your wisdom teeth out and he makes you something chewable?
Is love when you're best friend gets the bad news one day,
and all you can do is sit there and pray?
Is love when the doctors say he won’t last much longer,
but how long does that mean is all you can wonder?
Is love when you go to their hospital bed,
and tell them everything the doctors have said?
The cancer is there, it won’t go away,
but they look at you, and grab your hands to pray.
Is love when they sleep and close their eyes,
and you lay your head on their chest, and just cry?
Is love when God takes them from your hand,
but brings them to a better land?
God brings them to heaven where there is no more pain,
but somehow you know you will see them again.
Is love the fact you know they are right by your side,
never to leave you because their soul never died.
Is love when you know they aren’t too far away,
they will be your angel each and every day
Is it when you know they are next to you now,
“forever by your side” they kept their vow
Is love knowing God cares so much,
giving you memories forever to clutch.
Love is when you go to heaven and see you best friend again,
and love knowing you have so many great things, even with sin
Love is something unpredictable,
but there’s only one word for it…love is unconditional.
Form: ABC

Love, Faith Or Acceptance.

What is Love?
In MY opinion, Love is….. Just this……

Her eye’s when I read of them crying,
The thought and the taste of her tears on the tip of my tongue,
The ability to help her with my words,
To stop the pain she feel’s when I touch her heart in the only way I know how.
The sadness in her eyes that glisten with a sweet look that can do no wrong,
When through my heart she hears what I try to say,
Even when I’m to scared to speak the words.
Love to me is not about how someone can make you feel,
But for me to have faith and accept that no matter how sad I am,
Or how many tears I cry, I can still in my deepest, darkest time’s,
I……. can still make her smile.

What is Faith?
In MY opinion, Faith is….. Just this……

The ability to see and realise that my God is not bound by words in a book,
But only by how far my belief can stretch,
That I do not have to.. or feel the need to.. believe in a same single God, For God to be real,
That in fact, God is not what I am told HE is, But what I believe SHE is.
My God will not punish me for the mistakes and sins of my life, For she is no judge,
She does not require me to live by her laws and rules, For she is no tyrant,
No matter how I chose to live my life, She will take my soul and care for who I am.
Faith to me is not about how my God says and demands I should live,
But for me to accept that no matter how bad my choices in life may be,
Or how people may view or judge me, She will in my deepest, Darkest times,
She……. Will still love me.

What is Acceptance?
In MY opinion, Acceptance is….. Just this……

I am Evil, I am Good,
I am my Demons, I am my Saints.
I am my Hopes, I am my Dreams,
I am my Greed, I am my Desires.
I am my Gives, I am my Takes,
I am my Family, I am my Friends.
I am my Life, I am my Death,
Acceptance to me is not about what other people tell me or think I should be,
But for me to have absolute faith in who I am and what I do,
That people love me for who and what I am and accept what I believe to be right,
Even in my deepest, darkest times…….

Love, Faith Or Acceptance…….
Separate they are opinions….
But In your Deepest, Darkest times….
Do you not think….
For a single moment… that they just might be……
EXACTLY. THE. SAME. THING……?

Rome-Antics

When in Paris do as Romans do where pardon me I lost my Latin there
What is love truly like not to quench the stereo type
in clicks and cliche's let us count the ways from one liner's to hopefully the refiner
My face my mother has good taste grace please do not waste
Faint hearted love does not hurt only a shallow flirt
Fair love not everything goes in rules of the court
Next to you sugar taste like salt I wronged you it's my fault
In small houses best not to hurt the one
but forgive least that be turned to stone
Love thy neighbor a gift from above do not throw stones or live in
glass houses when push comes to shove
A many splendored thing not a splintered thing with kid's glove
One size fits all comfortably when God is your Love
For the Love of God is the truth better than the kisses of an enemy a rebuke
To love immeasurably the only measure to set us free is His pleasure
Love has everything to do with Love and contrary
to the other opposites do not attract well rarely
So when your bow you are a singing love is not blind just forgiving
So quit playing cards save your money and love your wife
looking for one choose words carefully ask a right
one will return as with promises, doves and ravens
one is wise but the other a safe haven
If you will and if it pleases how do I spell love JE SUS

What Is Love

What is Love? Love is the thing that missing, when it’s not there it takes away our joyful
fillings! Love is a second away, and when that second comes we never want that second too
be taken away! Love is sweet and good for the soul, I told you before it could never be
bought or sold. Love is something that could never change, even when the worse of things
happen it always stays the same! Love is a working change in progress, with true love
you’ll always have success. Love is sweet and gentle to the touch, you don’t have to add
any special ingredients it already has enough! Love is time, now that’s a blessing, I pray
that you read in between the lines and learned a valuable lesson. Love is good now ain’t
that the truth, so this is the love that I’ll be given too you! Love is a secret, and now
you know it, it’s so good but not everyone will show it! Love is in the form of your word,
and shown by your actions, so through away lust and quit acting! Love is a gift that was
given too me and you, I gave my love now what will you do? Love is happy and happy is
love, so I am happy too have finally found my true love. Love is good words spoke into
your ears, but love is always blocked out and stupidity is all that we hear! Love is a
filling that will never hold you back, and if its true love then it will always watch your
back! Love is a spirit that likes to come near, but for some odd reason love is the thing
that people always fear! Love is like Christmas joy, but people are so confused, they
think it’s about money or the biggest of toys! Love is the only thing that can set you
free, it’s the only thing that can change you from what you are, from what you used too
be! Love is something that protects you from every bad action, so I’ll pray for you just
to see what happens. Love is life as it begins, God sent Jesus out of love to die for our
sins! Love is God and God is perfect, so any life He gives His Love too is perfect! I used
too think my life didn’t have a purpose. Jesus Christ saves lives of those who think that
life is worthless. Look at me, I was born into this world and I’m far from perfect, so
don’t sit there and tell me my Gods Love isn’t worth it! In Jesus name I pray Amen & Amen!!

Think

Stop.
Breath.
Calm yourself.
Think.

Don’t think of love
Don’t think of pain
Don’t think of loss
Don’t think of gain
Don’t think of bricks that weigh you down
Don’t think of chains held to the ground
Don’t think of falling
Don’t think of flight
Just think of what makes you alright

Don’t think of what you need
To bring the love to you

Like ordering a pizza
Love, you feel
As you take in this love, it goes
You become full
But as it’s gone, what then?
It will not bring you love again.

This temporary satisfaction
Comes to you
Cheers you
Raises you
Then tears you
Drops you
Shakes you
Stomps you
What love is love, that breaks you?
What is love, that loves and leaves
What is love, if temporary?
Is it really love?
Or is it a step
A step to bring you along
But does it lift you up?
Or drop and catch you in place?
Find a new love
Or better yet, what’s there
Joy is not what satisfies you
Rather, the satisfaction itself
It is not the embers, so hot
It is not the warmth of Hell

When you look for joy
It finds you
Leaves again
Reminds you
That it was never there
It held you up, but why?
A fault that you had tried
Are these faults our joy?
Or are we just their toy
We use them up
We fall
We walk
And then we hit a wall
We stop
We cry
We hurt
We tried
For when we try these faults
We think they’re there until we die
But are they?

What again, is love?
It is not what brings you joy
It is the joy, itself
We love the joy
We trust a love to hold us
Keep us bold and strong
But then we all are wrong
We fall
They’ve dropped us
We ran
But they’ve stopped us

Look at what we’re chasing
And look at what we love
You cannot reach the top
If you dive below
What are you chasing?
You’re chasing dust
Be want a cloud
You’re sitting down
But we need to run
You want the joy
The love it brings
The smile it forms
The song it sings
Stop.
Breath.
Calm yourself.
Think.
Are you chasing what you love?
The clouds, up in the sky above?
Or are you chasing what you see
What you think will set you free?

The Nameless Things In Life

The feeling of being empty
Like a car with no gas
Life without purpose
Life with no meaning
The Nameless things in life

What is love?
I never heard of such a thing
My heart longs for something that I don’t know the name
Of all the things in life, the thing I like is pain
The pain of having friends who don’t care
The pain of only having one person to rely on in the world
The pain of hurting
The pain of stress
The pain of being alone
The Nameless things in life

No meaning
No use
Life itself is kicking you in the butt
The world went bad
But our lives go on
The Nameless things in life
Help me
I feel like I’m drowning
I can’t swim because of the weight I carry
All the salt getting into my scars
It burns me and it’s getting harder to breathe down here underwater
Are you going to help me
Or do I have to help myself like I do every day?
The Nameless things in life

Drag myself out of the water
My legs broken
I fall into a different problem
Straight to a war
In my body, it’s a war between my heart and my head
My heart says listen to your feelings
My head says that there are none left
The Nameless things in life

My plans are awry
My veins have run dry
You can’t see me bleed
You have no reason to hurt me anymore
I have won again
I will probably die here on the ground
No one will miss me so farewell
The Nameless things in life

When the world is watching
When the world is quiet
You can hear it in your head
Don’t do this
You can’t win
Don’t listen to it because
You can
The Nameless things in life

It took me this long
To listen to the ones whom I love
I found the meaning of that feeling I longed
I thank myself for getting me through the troubled road
I thank myself for not giving up on the nameless things in life
The things you live for
The things we all feel
The thing is that I am not the only one who is watching their world decay
My mind is a puzzle
And I just found the missing piece
My brain functions better
Now that I am in the right place
I have gotten better than I was when I started out
The thing about life
Is you can always be yourself
The Nameless things in life can be good if you try

What Is Love

What is L.O.V.E

A four letter word that makes some feel alive
Love is no different than you and i

It wants to be cherished and wants to be synced
Love can disappear with a snap or a blink

Allow me to go off topic to explain my version of Love

So close your eyes open your ears and keep your head up

Now growing up as a young man i was always taught to value Love. Be caring kind and affectionate and L.O.V.E would rise above. Family L.O.V.E and Intimate L.O.V.E on the quest for them both. Astonishing, both seemed to go missing when i needed them the most.

As I searched and searched to meet what L.O.V.E is
My journey came to a halt with a fascinating connection........

Love is not a person its a feeling
Love is always going to take some healing
Love cannot be purchased or sold
Love can be beautiful and bold

Love is a sight we all thrive to see
Love can be different between you and me
Love come from all walks of life
Love comes in all sizes and heights

Love can slightly change everyone
Love can make u see sharper or make you go dumb
Love can be creative and so neat
Love can be messy and cause defeat

Love can be honest all the time
Love can look you in the face with a lie
Love can be your highest high
Love can come crashing and make you cry

Love can make you warm and fuzzy inside
Love can turn its back on you until the day you die

As I stumbled across this discovery my journey was over. I knew what L.O.V.E was all along as i experienced it over and over. Exhilarated with the Intimate L.O.V.E once before. It shot me down as i thought both feet were in the door.

The family L.O.V.E was always there if i must say. Honestly, there were many instances where that L.O.V.E got carried away.

So my version of L.O.V.E comes with experiences that may vary from yours. Doesn’t mean we have nothing in common or in store. L.O.V.E is a feeling. It can come and it can go. Just don’t lose sight of your L.O.V.E as it will surround you with your right people for years to come

My version of L.O.V.E comes with more than two
My L.O.V.E for God
My L.O.V.E for family
And my L.O.V.E for my future Mrs. too

Where There Is Love

As I returned home tired of the day's work,
my son, with a greeting smile, came running to me.
As usual, I kissed him and said, "I love you, my son".
"What is love, Papa?" quite innocently he asked.
Giving him a chocolate, I simply said,
"This is my love for you".
The innocent question stirred my soul
and all my thoughts fell on the 'simple' word 'LOVE',
"What is love? Where is love?"
Love is there, I thought, in our care
that we give to our kids and in our desire
to see them grow before our eyes.
Love is seen in the heart of a mother
who has to part her children from her
and send them to distant lands
to win the race of life.
Love is seen in the worries of a wife
who waits for the safe return of her husband.
Love is there in a true friend
who works as an inspiration,
stands by in all thick and thin
and shares all joys and sorrows.
Love is seen, by a lover, in the beginning
of a smile-love-a composition of
a single soul living in two bodies.
So pleased I felt to imagine
that love is everywhere
and 'all is well with the world'.
Relaxing on my chair, I picked the newspaper
with a desire to know something good of the world.
As I went on reading, my newly-formed assumptions
about love, life, and the world began to shatter.
What I read-
four cases of robbery,
two cases of murder,
three cases of relations breaking,
four cases of eve-teasing,
two cases of rape,
one case of acid throwing,
youth indulged in drug addiction,
many cases of corruption,
some cases of manipulation,
hoarding and black-marketing,
dirty game of politics,
unions going on strikes,
people fighting for religions,
word war among states and nations
and 'much ado about nothing'.
I threw the paper with a heavy heart
and again asked myself, "Where is love?"
The sudden entrance of my son
broke the stream of my thought.
I caught him in my arms and kissed.
"How can flowers be grown on a volcano?" were only my thoughts
and two pearls from my eyes fell on the head of my son.
Then the 'Preacher of Peace' came into my vision
who proclaimed, "Where there is love, there is life".

The Zen Spirit of True Love Or What Is Love

the Zen Spirit of true Love or what is love?

what is love
the poetry prompt proclaimed
explain what love is
to someone who has never
experienced love
and had no idea at all
no clue as to what love is
I decided that I had no answer
that would satisfy
that love is sort of like
the belief in God
you either believe it
or you don’t
there is no rational basis

there is no rational basis
for love at all
it is not just
as second hand emotion
despite the popularity of the song
it is not chemical induced temporarly insanity
it is not biological endured DNA programing
hard wired to help us to get sex
and make babies
and then keep our mates
to help raise said babies
it is all of these things yes
and scientists may someday

and scientists may someday
be able to pinpoint it all
break it down
in its component parts
analyze the hell out of it
but they will never understand it
in the end
it comes down to this
Love is mysterious
love is magic
there is a certain zen element
to love
a certain taoist element as well

there is a certain taoist element as well
those who can define it
have never experienced it
and those who have experienced it
can never describe it
one can say a few things
love happens
when you least expect it
love creeps up on you
love happens
when you are washing dishes
drinking wine
dancing at a club
making love

making love
for the first time
or the 10, 000th time
and every time
is different
than the time before
love happens when you give up
searching for love
waiting for love
wishing for love
wishing for the one
then one day
the one walks out

I first saw this prompt five years ago and gave up trying to define love, but after 40 years of love I finally have an answer. It is based on a true love story for details on how we met see my story , "dream love" on my blog page, Https://theworldacordingtocosmos.co m or my various dream girl/love poems especially "the Story of How We Met" on AP I am writing a screen play called "timeless love" on this story as it would make a great movie. © 16 minutes ago, john Cosmos Aller
