I am so glad to be here,
With eyes so bright – they swirl of chocolate.
Content and breathing.
Thank you.
Thank you for these small feet and cute black painted toe-nails
That can fit into shoes and leave foot prints on
Rough gilded grains of sand.
Thank you for these legs, yes they may be skin and bone.
Faded and outworn, and not at the exact height I want them to be.
Still, they run around fields in PE class. They perfectly lean
And bend, when I drop a coin.
Thank you for this stomach.
This small round belly, with a beautiful belly button in the center.
Thank you, now I can eat all I want, and laugh so hard that this tummy aches.
This belly has held butterflies, and delights I have over indulged in.
Thank you for these arms, with white hands on their edges.
These arms they can embrace mama.
These hands they can make Zeina a cup of soup when she gets the flu.
These fingers they can hold Mont Blanc pens and wear engagement rings.
They can make pinky promises and wipe off salty tears.
Thank you for these lips that can smile to lonely strangers.
Sip on straws, and release teeth that munch on saggy pizzas.
Thank you, now I can kiss dad goodbye on the cheek, and teta hello on the forehead.
And with the power of vocal strings, and sound waves I can read,
Scream while watching Saw III,
and sometimes, speak my mind.
Thank you for these ears, pierced three times on the right side, and four times on the left
side.
Thank you, now I can hear the call for prayer when I wake up at sunrise.
Now I can listen to Chet Baker!
I can hear jokes,
And sometimes eavesdrop on others when it’s really
None of my business.
Thank you for these eyes,
That helped me see too little
Or sometimes, too much.
They have gushed joy and trapped tears.
Thank you for this conscience.
It bubbles with scruples.
That goad me to apologize and sympathize.
Thank you, now I can give that destitute man at the subway the coats I had
But never really wore.
Thank you for this heart that loves and hates,
Grudges and forgives.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I am so glad to be here,
With eyes so bright – they swirl of chocolate.
Content and breathing.
Getting off the bus along Hillside Avenue,
I heard a loud commotion coming from a speaker;
and getting closer, I saw the face of a sweaty preacher...
calling all souls to Jesus and make them new.
I looked and paused and saw this preacher with sweat on his face...
as he was telling the crowd a true story of The Godfather's son, who was
in the dark about his father's activities, and when he was finally told,
he didn't care if he died; and to the authorities he went to report his dad.
What a righteous young man he must have been, and how noble
it was to reveal that well-kept secret which would have cost his precious life,
giving up a chance at being powerful and not dedicating himself to a lifetime of crime;
I can visualize him bowing his head down, and pray to stop the vicious cycle.
I sat next to an elderly lady whose who's veiled head shone through a gentle light,
" Sing along with me, and your lost soul will be reedemed by the blood of Jesus!"
I shared her song book and began singing an evening prayer of repentance,
as the preacher cried out, " Raise your hand, and I will pray for you tonight!"
How many folks, like me, wanted to see that preacher proclaim the Lord's message;
and how lucky I was to have encountered a stranger who sounded like Jesus,
to add another sheep to his herd as he prayed for the sins of the repentant ones!
How glorious it was to hear him glorify Christ and His father with his voice of grace!

For there is no discrimination when catastrophe strikes;
It is no time to fight.
No race card of black and white.
This is when people of all creeds and races need to unite.
Sometimes I question, whether compassion for humanity still exists.
Haiti use to be where the rich thrive, and the poor perish,
We should quell their fears;
Lord give Haiti the strength to fight their tears.
Now the wealthy and poor are united at last,
So let them assist each other and forget about the past,
They may be battered and beaten, but they are not defeated.
Haiti is where my Jesus is seated.
But out of the destruction, hope will rise,
For it's children I will always have tears in my eyes.
Bring a prayer and a friend
Let's support their cause and faith
Lord give Haiti the strength, don’t let them wait
While guided by Your light, it is the comfort they seek
‘Cause their scenario is bleak
Come help if you can
So stretch your hands from land to land
I pray to The Lord to thank Him,
for gifts He provides each day.
A prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus,
for the blessings He sends my way.
I thank you Lord for the lesser things,
and not think it so odd,
for I know that even the smallest,
is given by The Grace of God.
Thank you for a stove and a pantry...
for a blanket, pillow, and bed...
for clean sheets, warm covers, and pajamas,
and sending my daily bread.
Thank you for washcloth and towels...
for soap, a tub, and sink...
for tube of toothpaste and toothbrush,
and a faucet of cold water to drink.
I have taken so much for granted,
hardly given it much thought,
but from now on I will pray to thank you Lord,
for these lesser blessings wrought.
I have prayed a prayer of thanksgiving,
for provisions The Lord has given;
may we promise and always remember,
to be grateful thankful children!

Glistening Silver
Glistening silver on water’s edge like thousands of diamonds for my hair -
Snow covered mountains hide summer flowers of purple, pink and gold
while black bear and deer search for left over apples from October’s harvest.
Ellijay is crisp and cleaned to perfection by nature’s wind and cold -
The cows hide inside the old, red barn up the hill.
Hickory trees barren of fruit, yet a lone woodpecker flits back and forth looking -
searching for substance from the thick bark only it can penetrate.
My prayer for snow covered mountains has been answered.
Seventeen years of Florida sun has scorched my throat and mind.
I wanted to see New York snow in North West Georgia -
One full Sunday of snow falling for my eyes to fill
in the glorious beauty of winter’s wonder.
Paradise
paradise is just a prayer away.
Jesus will forgive all your sin, that was his plan from the start.
When he gave his life on cavalry, for us so we could be forgiven.
Now we are able to see paradise.
Which is heaven holy city where no more tears can enter in.
within it’s gates is peace and love, joy forevermore with Jesus love all around us.
Like the sun shining on a bright summer day.
Warm are bodies and soul that tell us to enter in.
We see the sun shining on the dove, that fly’s in bright blue sky, over our heads and into God’s mighty hand.
Which cover all our sins, may God bless all of us that we might enter in, the gates of paradise into
Gods mighty hands.
Form:
As I knelt in prayer the other night, I asked God….
“Why is there so much suffering in the world?”
I believe He answered me and said…
Free will is a fact of life.
It can bring you joy or sometimes strife.
It’s up to you to make the choice,
But if you pray, you’ll hear my voice.
I can’t explain, my dear, He said,
as I knelt beside my bed.
Our lives are NOT a matter of fate.
You may CHOOSE hell or the pearly gates.
Now my dear, rest your head,
And tuck yourself inside your bed.
Have no worries, have no fear.
Just simply know that I am here!

Stay humble, my friend for trouble lasts for a while.
This life horrors us with many tests and trials.
Alone you may think you are, but don't fret.
Your enemies will soon be your footstool.
Honesty, courtesy, and prayer are are some components of humility.
Understanding yourself as well as others also plays a part.
Memorize these instructions, which are a good tool.
Be kind and wise, observant strong and quiet, too.
Learning and living by the of God is the best facility and
Example for yourself and the rest to be and to stay in the act of humility.
