I saw a video on FB of a group of Ukrainians singing at an airport.
As I watched them sing, I felt their pain and whispered a prayer.
I am not certain that I have ever known or met a Russian.
On the contrary, I have met and known many Ukrainians.
Many Ukrainians came to our city when the Soviet Union fell.
We called them Russians but were quick to learn that there was
a difference. Today I learned that 'Kiev' is of Russian origin while 'Kyiv' is from the language of Ukraine. In my mind and in my heart, it shall be 'Kyiv', and may they be what God made them to be.
I believe in the sovereignty of nations and have never known
a dearer people. Ukraine's national flower is the Sunflower. I pray that the Sun (Son) of Righteousness will beam
down upon Ukraine and give her justice.
May Kyiv's bitter nightmares turn into sweet dreams.
And may The Prince of Peace 'still' her troubled waters.

God, I have a prayer for you today.
It’s just from me, but please hear what I have to say.
Millions are being abandoned, starved and soon alone, where some in Ukraine are still free to roam.
Children are becoming hungry, helpless and alone.
Give them bravery, messengers of God,
imaginary staffs and protective rods.

Our leader’s horrible disdain has caused many to join The Hopeless Train.
Beg your angels to collect their pain.
Smalls tears are turning into puddles of fears.
Guardian angels, Ukraine needs protection, guidance and love,
hope, reassurance and your spiritual hugs,
from all your celestial beings above.
To my Deedoosh and my Babusys hold each other tight.

I have power; this war I will win; Putin thought,
Hydrogen and nitrogen bombs war crews threw;
Ukrainian troops too like classic heroes fought,
Grief, fear, and rage within the hearts of people brew;
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, help from nations sought,
Some shammed to show concern; in truth, away they flew;
We're superpowers, the Russians float in pride,
It's then the Ukrainians took them for a ride...!
NATO battle tricks the Ukrainians did adopt,
Vengeance from Russians with vigilance they blew;
With bombs, within Russians, hatred topped,
Within Ukrainians, lo, patient calmness grew;
When Putin thought the Ukrainian heads are cropped,
From resilience, Ukrainians, their strength drew,
Thousands of powerful tanks the Russians lost,
Conceit crossed, tossed and frost, finally did exhaust...!!!

Dear Fellow Poets, One and All
As a lover and defender of freedom my whole life, I feel duty-bound to inform you, just in case you missed it, that the unthinkable has now happened.
Russia shelled the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine early this morning. (Source: Associated Press, 1:45 a.m., March 03, 2022).
The plant is actually on fire now.
Should Zaporizhzhia explode, much of Europe will be exposed to deadly radiation.
Zaporizhzhia is the largest nuclear power plant in all of Europe. It is much, much larger than the one in Chernobyl which killed so many in 1986, including David Freydin's father in Kursk, 337 miles away. (David, a Chicago-area attorney, was a student of mine, 1992-1995, at Yeshivas Brisk Academy High School in Chicago, now defunct).
Make no mistake, my dear friends: Mr. Putin will be coming after everyone on this planet, esp. in Europe and the USA next -- if we don't stop him cold NOW.
I urge all of you residing in the USA to email President Biden, your two Senators in Washington, and your Representative. You can google email President Biden for example, and you will get a user-friendly site on which you can email him. Same with the others
Ask them to get off of the sidelines and start leading the fight for freedom. The Ukrainians cannot and must not be left to fend off Russia alone! America must do her part, must take the lead.
It is time for America to employ the most powerful army in the world to defeat Russia, end the threat of nuclear war, and hopefully, silence the monster named Putin forever.
Please Keep your emails as brief as possible, and to the point. Make sure to include the nuclear threat of Zaporizhzhia, the need to lead the fight for freedom by defeating Russia militarily, and the imperative to save thousands - if not millions - of lives all over the world, including those of the legislators in Washington D.C.
Remember, Europe and America are next for Putin and Russia.

When is enough enough,
When is the going just too tough.
Why do people have to die
Forever in the ground to lie.
Are the spoils worth all the pain
When the path is kill and maim.
Is barren land worth just so much
Now deprived of human touch.
Do fatherless children justify the cost
Memories of a generation lost.
Weeping mothers by the score
Adding every day far more.
Politicians acting blind
To the misery resigned,
Just numbers on a sheet
Conscious only of defeat.
Pride and hubris win the day
Reason not allowed to sway.
Yet solutions need be found
Striving to be clear and sound.
Calmer voices must assist
For further slaughter to desist.
The way forward won't be fast
Searching for a peace to last.
Neither side will win outright
Time for discourse not brute might.
Russia needs restore prosperity
Ukrainians live without temerity.
I have such a miserable face,
Grimacing and frowning, a disgrace,
I am a disgrace to the human race
Who suffers by looking at this sad face.
Why do I always wear a frown?
What right have I to feel so down,
I am as fortunate as can be,
Living in a free country.
There are countries, far and wide,
Where they sadly have to hide,
The sorrow and the grief they feel
So they try hard to conceal,
And not to reveal
The anguish and fear inside
When all that they loved had died
And all have to count the cost
Of the peace and happiness lost,
Because of one man's greed
Who was so sure he would succeed,
In his worthless game of war,
Causing destruction, what for?
For the love of power and might
Is this a valid reason to fight?
If you think this is so
It's time PP for you to go,
Face up and be brave
Think of all the lives you'll save
Surrender and lay down your arms
I hear the sound of the alarm,
Bells ringing loud and clear,
Those heroic Ukrainians are getting near.
These stoic soldiers did not want war.
They want their country back,
The way it was before
PP, are you feeling lost.
Now you will have to count the cost.
Instead of finding fame
All in history will know your name,
For the evil character, you are
Your infamy won't take you far.
For over three long months , the war has been raging
Against the Russians, the Ukrainian army are engaging
You can't help but admire them, for putting up such a heroic fight
Heavily out manned and outgunned, against military might.
But the west needs to speed up their shipments of artillery
So that Ukraine can match them, on the battlefield militarily
Vladimar Putin is a bare faced liar, a war criminal and a crook
Who has broken and trampled over, every rule in the book.
He's threatened to execute three members of Ukraines army
Accused of being mercenaries, but they're in the military!
It's a total sham trial and the whole world can see through it
It's Russian soldiers who are war criminals, a fact he won't admit.
Enough is enough the west, has to stop pussyfooting around
Or the world won't know peace until Putin's six foot underground
The world would be a much safer place, without him in power
Or are we just happy to dance, to his obscene tune and cower.
The war criminal Putin has threatened, to hit western supplies
NATO and the west should respond, and give him a surprise
Deliver those rocket launchers sharpish, to Donbas in the east
And give the Ukrainians a fighting chance, of beating the beast.
When this unjust war is over the imposed sanctions must stay
Ukraine will need a lot of rebuilding and its Russia who must pay
Other despots are watching closely, the tactics of Vlad Putin
The west must send a strong message that he's not going to win.

at the darkest tidings of the year.
For this, the Puritans never celebrated Yuletide,
a pagan holiday of sin.
Still, rituals of the festive season endure.
Sitting in solemn silence on the eve of every Christmas,
the Swedes turn their TVs to Donald Duck.
So too do the Japanese eat a bucket of KFC
while the Ukrainians decorate Christmas trees with fake spider webs.
In Greenland, men serve women whale blubber
and the Catalonian’s nativity scenes always
include a bare-bottomed pooping man.
These are the darkest tidings of the year,
Christmas is incomplete without them.

The old soldiers Café
We went to my favoured restaurant it is no longer so,
on a table near us sat a group of Ukrainians eating plenty
of meat with sausage and the server said there was no more left
so we lunched on a dish I wasn`t keen on.
Eight of them men with brutal faces and as the wine flowed
they spoke about the war and killing Russians.
Two of them looked like assassins, those with long knives
who kill silently in the night, eating the food I wanted.
My wife said I was fantasising they were workmen who
had left their country to seek employment elsewhere I was not sure.
My food didn’t look as good as theirs, so we left early and
I didn`t eat my food left the glass of wine untouched in a futile
attempt to show my dislike, but no one noticed.
Who is this man they call Putin
Destroying Ukraine by bombing and shooting
Ordering his soldiers to take over each city
On their brave citizens he has no pity
A little boy said,"I want to live not die"
He was a lone little orphan with a tear in his eye
You can see for yourself the pain and suffering is real
Just watch the news coverage it will make you ill
Seeing the Ukrainians with tears anguish and strife
While some brave Ukrainians stay and risk their life
Led by President Zelinsky they are so strong
Putin led by the devil is so wrong
Pray for the Ukrainans to keep their strong will
That Putin and his soldiers their country can't steal
Don't believe the false statements Ukrainians at fault
Putin is the greedy narcissist carrying out this assault
Read the Bible story of David and Goliath and then pray
That like David the Ukrainians,with God's help, will defeat the devil's evil way
