They tell you love is a gentle thing, a quiet, steady light,
Like a silver spoon or a warm blanket in the night.
But when you grow up starving and the kitchen table is bare,
You’ll take whatever scrap they throw and call it loving care.
You mistake the grip for grounding. You think a bruise is deep.
You think a screaming match is passion when you cannot sleep.
When no one treats you softly, the hunger breaks your mind.
You look at weapons and convince yourself they’re kind.
So you pull right up to the table and you look straight at the blade,
And you do not count the cost of all the cuts that have been made.
You learn to lick the sweetness off the cold, unyielding steel,
And if it bleeds, it bleeds...at least it proves that you can feel.
But a throat lined with scar tissue gets tired of the taste.
You wake up in the quiet, sick of all the years you’d waste.
You look in the mirror at the damage and the art,
And realize you called a knife the anchor of your heart.
It’s terrifying, walking out and letting the kitchen freeze,
To drop the blade and try to breathe outside the old disease.
To see a hand come toward you open, hesitant and slow,
Offering a quiet space where you don't have to guard the blow.
It takes a lot of unlearning to trust a softer touch,
To realize that a peaceful love doesn’t ask for half as much.
You learn to taste the quiet things, the simple and the plain,
And realize you can be full without a drop of pain.

"When you not fed love on a silver spoon you learn to lick it off knives."
Ask ample aplomb
Blooming bounty bombs
Clever charm churns cheer
Describe deep dance dear
Etch explores endings
Flavours forge feelings
Glimpse grand gracious grooves
Healthy hurling hooves
Impact inks icy
Just joy joins jumpy
Keep keepsake kindly
Love listens lovely
Meek moist moments meet
Nurture nature neat
Oomph offers obsess
Potent play process
Query quotient quaint
Rich rapture restraints
Savour sanguine sweet
Thrill timely touch treats
Use urgent union
Voice vibrant vision
Wise words work wealthy
eXpress ends empty
Yonder yielding yes
Zealous zooming zest

Sweet Shelby, so it's been one spin around the sun for us
Here's to hungry you helping have hamburgers (obviously there was too many)
Emptying the trash when there was no more room (clearly there wasn't any)
Licking up leftovers laying on the ground (even though you spilt them there)
Barrell rolling in poop at the park (a good reminder for a bath, to be fair)
You yank my arm off when you see a rabbit (it's a bit of a fuss)
Diligently sniffing out any treats (or any food for that matter)
Old girl, young at heart, my 80 lb lap dog (there's nothing I would rather)
Gave me a first year, I wouldn't have any other way

TREATS #1
Midnight stroll
Street lamps blurry;
Night air chills
~~~~~~~~~
Sleepy lovers
Sweet dreams ply;
Snores punctuate
~~~~~~~~~
Late wee hours
Misty moon light;
Distant voices
~~~~~~~~~
Muddy pond
Lotus flowers chat;
Sunlit extravagance
~~~~~~~~~
Writer at work
Do not disturb;
Amazing grace
~~~~~~~~~
Line after line
Cryptic haiku pulse;
Verse artifacts
~~~~~~~~~
Mood swings
Pregnant moments;
Tidal wave
~~~~~~~~~
Musical whimsy
Interlude strays;
Scattered conversations
Four I have crossed swords with Death, on
The battlefield of life
And as many times I was spared by this formidable
Opponent
Not because of mercy on His part but rather
From certitude that His, the final victory will be
But
Bitter, I am not for my upcoming ending for
During our fights, came to know Him very well,
To the degree a mortal this slayer can know,
Thus
Now I am able to declare, that a better democrat than Him
It is impossible anywhere to find
Since
He equally treats everyone, regardless of a mighty King one
Happens to be
Or
Just a ruined beggar!
Fledgling hearts fumble with emotions,
sorting feelings they wish to embrace.
And as two souls meld and intertwine,
their destinies merge and interlace.
Love is candy treats and satin sheets,
for reality is a mirage.
And heavenly bliss imbues each kiss;
as eager lips caress and massage.
Time loses all desire to move on,
tethered to the magic love imparts.
And Luna inspires lingering sighs,
igniting passion in tinder hearts.
Silent smiles erupt into laughter,
as refreshing as a splash of rain.
And hope roots in this garden of joy,
while trust weeds out all traces of pain.
Life's a collage of precious moments,
every single one is a treasure.
And as racing pulses synchronize,
lovers indulge in dual pleasure.
Approached by a witch on Halloween one should, look her straight in the eye and knock on wood.Quote - Poet’s own
It's Halloween night, beware of the knock
Safeguard yourselves and have your doors on lock
There's witches on prowl, who cast a dire spell
Avoid those spells for they never do well.
Night sky is riddled with witches on brooms
With scary cats sat on the back they zoom
Surrounded by bats waiting to attack
Anyone out there, for a tasty snack.
Do not be tempted to sup a witch’s brew
There’s no telling the damage it could do
For they boil innards of rats and lizards
Be cautious as most witches are wizards.
Close your windows for ghosts are on the scene
If they sneak in you are likely to scream
Watch out for ghouls, they are demons and pests
And they don’t listen to angry protests.
It may be trick or treaters knock your door
Or devilish scamps who have no candour
Put treats outside, no tricks they’re a have not
Hark this advice before you get a knock.
He sings to me of love and hope,
Inspires my spirit, helps me to cope,
Invites me to feel His amazing light
Singing to me – day and night
He embraces me with his gentleness,
Whispering hope, soothing restlessness,
Coloring my dreams in sweetest grace
Love this alive stirs a fire time can’t erase
He treats me like a child, a beloved infant
Someone to cherish, someone sufficient,
A heart and a soul – with love that inspires
Feelings that bleed through my life like fires
He abides with me – His unending peace
Reflecting joy and wonder, abundant increase,
Lifting up my hopes and dreams, silencing
Every doubt and fear with beautiful enlightening
He reminds me that I’m His, forever blessed
By the sacrifice, the cross He braved, giving His best
So that I might never suffer the darkness of hell,
The place meant for the angels who fell
He considers all of my worst sins, my worst wrongs
Wipes away my past with a music that belongs
To the soul, the spirit – the belief that brings healing
Thanks to His grace, on my knees – I’m still kneeling
Never skeptical, never hesitant to believe the One
Who lived and died and rose once again – saying it’s done,
The victory has been won – forever and always, the greatest love
Has been shown – love from God’s only Son, the One I speak of
Thanks to this Jesus who saved my soul
I am alive – thanking the One who made me whole,
The One who I know as Savior and Son,
Thanks to His grace – I’ll know eternal life in the long run
Praising God – P R A I S I N G – Praying… praising
The One who made me, the Creator – so amazing!
Fiona and her pup Scar decided to go on an adventure
They hit the Pacific Highway at four in the morning on Tuesday
There is nothing like the open road! Fiona sang to Scar.
Scar was happy, there were doggie treats in his sidecar.
Many people honked and waved as they journeyed.
They ran out of ocean soon enough, but saw other things.
Dusty dirty tumbleweeds blew into them in Wyoming.
No worries, Fiona told Scar. Things will get better.
Scar was not worried. He had a new t-bone now.
Thanks to the generosity of the cook at the truck stop.
“We are on the road to somewhere!” Fiona sang.
They were steering through Nebraska now.
It was the tornado season, so they might have to lie in a ditch.
Scar did not care. He has his bone, and he had his memories.
He loved traveling “the road to somewhere”.
It was his favorite thing to do in the summer time.
'Tis a twisted, tawdry tale !!
Poor Tom the Turkey is in a tizzy !!!
Tom's tongue is in a tangle, too terrified to talk !
Taunts and threats taking a toll
Tormented by a tip from tattle-tale townfolk
That Tom's in trouble! Tom's time is ticking !!
Tom the Turkey so terribly tramautized !!
Trapped in terror....
Teary Tom is taking tranquilizers,
Tablespoons of tonics....
Trying to tame the tension and trepidation !
Tiptoeing through tall timber...
Trapezing through treetops !
Tongue-tied and tearfully trembling..
Taking tactics, trying not to tempt...
Those tyranical terriorists who torture and
Trace Tom's tracks...
Tom the turkey in a tailspin
Told he's targeted for termination !!...
Tagged to be Thanksgiving treats and tidbits...
A tasty trophy topping Thanksgiving tables !!
This tale, this traversty, truely terrible !!
TRAGIC !!!!
