He's given me Victory
He's given me Victory
He's given me victory over all that I can see
He's given me Victory
 He's giving me Victory
He's given me Victory of all that I can see
Lord is my strength and my song
 And He won't tarry long
How can it be wrong,
to worship and praise Him all day long
He's given me Victory
He's given me Victory
He's given me victory, Hallelujah
He has given me victory
He's given me Victory
He's given me victory
Over all my shames those wrongs I've done, I did
 O so long sins
Now I've been born again
Rebirth and molded and made a new creature because I have to repented
He's given me victory
He's given me Victory
He's my Lord and He has giving me victory
over all my sins and shames
 the Lord is my strength
and my song He has given me victory for all of my wrongs that I,
Ah! Oh, Oh Halle Hallelujah
Jesus Christ my Lord my God is giving me the victory

Premium Member Harry the Hamster

Harry the Hamster
   was a cute little pet
'till the day that
into a pot he did get

Not a pot of soup, mind you
nor a pot of beef stew
What Harry got into
   makes most hamsters blue

Not a pot of potatoes
   or a pot of rice
That might have turned out
   quite frankly, quite nice

Neither a pot of porridge
nor a pot of boiled eggs
a delicacy for which
   he would normally beg

No, what Harry got into
   inexplicably, you see
was a pot of real pot --
   almost pure THC

Harry snarfed it all up
   in an aggressive way
thinking perhaps, 'twas
   a kind of brownish hay

He licked his chops
   then backing away
plopped right on his rump
   in the clumsiest way

Once back on his feet
   he tried to advance
only to fall right down
on his face and his hands

I saw Harry was down
   down for a while
I felt badly for him
As if he was my child...

I looked on with horror
   as Harry trembled and shook
knowing the danger of
   what that hamster had took

Well, for hour after hour
poor Harry lay on the ground
whimpering and sweating
   'till he was finally rundown

He fell asleep by and by
   and when he woke up
I teased him, 'Hey, Harry,
Here's a pot from which to sup...'

Now that did it for poor Harry
   He sure didn't tarry --
Bolted right out the door
   ~ to be seen nevermore

Evacuation

Total estimated casualties, including civilians and Taliban 171,000 to 174,000 all in the cause of a very dubious war, returning Afghanistan to what it was 20 years before, and abandoning some of those who helped and are now likely to be hunted down and executed.
This doesn’t include the injured, physically and mentally.
Is there any cause for any Politician to have any pride in this.

My dangerous journey starts,
No time to dawdle or tarry,
Just a few belongings, reduced
To what I can easily carry.
My life rolled up in a backpack
Slung from one shoulder,
My departure documents tightly
Clasped in a plastic folder.
Walking slowly up this gangway
Into the bowels of this plane
Twenty years of change and hope
After the Taliban’s harsh reign.
Goodbye sere mountainous land
Harsh, severe, it used to be mine,
It’s all behind me now as I sit
Lucky to be on this evacuation line.
Most of my life under occupation,
I can barely remember the Taliban,
A child when they left so I grew
Up in a very different Afghanistan.

A harsh and hasty decision made
Causing many to hesitate and grieve
Before taking the only real decision,
It’s time to pack up and leave.
A life of uncertainty in a new place
Heavens knows where it will be
Only one thing certainly known
We’ll have the status of refugee.
There’s a sense of fear and betrayal
As your occupation finally ends,
The clock starts to turn back as
Our New Dark Age truly descends. .
You have much to answer for
After such a long stay
Just to suddenly decide
To up and walk away.
As you retreat once again
Do you really expect
The rest of the world
To still treat you with respect.

Aesthetics of a Damsel

Her cursory gaze is like the impenitent sun,
Her brave speech are edified like sindey.
Her eyeballs kindled the fire of fun,
And ushered the lucky man into glory.
Her hips are attractive like the plains of
paradise.
Her bowels are contended with wealth and
fortune.
She frown-ly smile like the queen of
franchise,
Enslaving the soul of bewitched juvenile.
Her twinkling teeth are gloriously exposed,
When she parted her two lips like the red
sea.
They boomed bright beckoning to toad,
Pulling a million eyes to behold and see.
Her wild grin magneted my heart,
And enjambed it to her social world.
I felt relax living in her smiles,
Because they strangle my conveteousness
and swap it for joy.

Do not away with me, oh beauty of
damsels.
Fasten unto me like bolts of curtains.
Bewitch me with thy qualities, pretty lassie.
That success may tarry in my custody like
'ROSE OF SHARON'.

The Hidden Corners of War

A DETOUR TO YPRES, (on returning from a holiday in France 2013)

WHAT A WASTE
A DIM TARRY SUN CLOSES, THE ERRODED SCRAGGY DAY,
IN HIDDEN CORNERS OF SOURED BOGS BROKEN MEN, AND MEMORIES SIT
MY DREAM WANDERS MONO-CHROME OUT OF THE LONG WIRED NIGHT
TAINTED IN FILTH, SEPERATED BY, TWO HUNDRED YARDS OF A DEATH GARDEN;
BEHIND MY CLOSED EYES, LAYED OUT IN WAVES OF LAST BREATHS
COME VISITS FROM YOU, AND THOSE LOST WORDS, I WISH I HAD SAID!
COUGHING ORERS LEAD US TO THE MORNING, PINS, RIBBONS, BRASS STARS
FOR THE DEAD, BEYOND THE SHARPENED LEAD AND SULPHUR;
WITH BACKWARD STEPS WE SEE WHERE WE HAD STOOD
WE FELL, BUT THE PAIN WAS MANY MILES TO THE WEST
THEY ALL FORGOT, THEY ALL NEVER SAW, BUT! THEY KNOW,
THEY PROCLAIM PEACE! MANY POPPYS, BUT JUST BRING MORE WAR.

Premium Member Unwritten

How many words have gone by unwritten
thoughts sacrificed to summer's gentle breeze
whispers of mind slipping in unbidden
Often times happy with a playful tease
But others nudging a painful displease.

A note we meant to write, a card unsent
another birthday we somehow forgot
words of poetry, so clear our intent
lost in sunlight's laughter, as is his plot,
gaily gathering words we had once sought.

If we could capture those moments that pass
Write them in a small book we could carry
Think of the momentous times we'd amass
memories to pages we would marry,
and, unwritten words could perhaps tarry.

Red Summer

It was a summer of indifference
Billionaire Nazis who preach ethnic cleansing
And powerful ladies clad in iron
Play tug of war
With the hearts and souls of the people
While governors deceive the populace and their own parties
And confused men in collars and cassocks
Betray their vows, principles,
And even the people
They are supposed to lead.

It was a summer of blood
Black mothers in black clothes
Attend the funerals
Of their Black sons
Killed by
Their own Black Brothers
Or by Blue Klansmen
With smoking guns and shining shields
While urban brigades
Mourn the loss of true knights
Murdered by
Desperate, exhausted, and enraged men
Who have witnessed more than enough
Of their people being oppressed
By those sworn to protect them
While the suburbanites and gentrifiers
Look the other way
Or applaud the lynchings
While savages plow into school children
Behead Christian babies
Rape Christian women
Slash the throats of priests
And destroy Christian communities
Even though we are supposed to be
People of the Book
While those who peacefully practice Islam
Are being told they are unwelcome.

It was the summer of chaos
People parade the streets
With signs
Shouting
Black Lives Matter
Blue Lives Don't
Men use toilets
Next to little girls
Six years olds
Are being taught about
The birds and the bees
And the ticks and the fleas
Infanticidal Mengelites
Teach girls
confidence and resourcefulness.
We are no longer people
With free wills and open hearts
We are no more than pawns
In a political chess tournament
Of the Sick Left
Against the Cold Right
What is right is wrong
What is wrong is right

Dear Lord
When will you have enough?
When will the
Fall of Jerusalem
Finally arrive?
Maybe that is the only way
This madness will end.
How many more chances
Do we need?
How much longer will you stand there
While the pigs come to
Spit on Your Countenance
And crush Your pearls?
I sigh for Your
City on the Hill
And long to see its gates
Meanwhile, I tarry to the mountains
Before I am tempted to
Join the sultry, drunken orgy
Of lost souls who hang the decent
And silence the morally outspoken
Whilst chanting
Eat, drink, and indulge
For you only live once

Premium Member The Soul Breathes On

Though a body dies, the soul breathes on
elegance undeterred, graceful as a swan

So it was with Sarah, her influence ever-growing
from the seeds of renewal she'd been sowing

Urgent now was widower Avraham's* mission
to find a wife for Yitzchak,* save the Jews from perdition

Servant Eliezer brought back Rivka* for Yitzchak to marry
Who brought her to Sarah's tent, he did not tarry

Rivka's entrance sparked the Sabbath candle's revival
Once again it burned from Sabbath to Sabbath upon Rivka's arrival

Sarah set the standard high for Jewish motherhood
In death as in life, her influence all for the good

I heard loud screams coming from a quaint
decapitated building as I approached
the entrance way I could see the image
of a woman standing near the window

there were others screaming also
I hurried inside only to be overcome
by thick black smoke the woman continued
calling to me as I made it pass the chard door
as two men laid in the hallway the woman wailed

I tried desperately to save her apon entering
her apartment filled with flames her hair melted
to her face her slippers melted to the tarry linoleum
I panicked at this horrid sight this woman still alive

reaching for me with one hand the other hand
was melting against the vinyl drapes
my mind wondered how to save this dying woman
her nylons began to ignite her legs and apron string

I was clearly distraught as sirens could be heard
from a distance away the woman reached out again
as I reached for her hand oddly she was wearing
my ring given to me by my grandmother years ago

I glanced in the mirror of this woman's suffering
there was so much smoke i could hardly see
but to my surprise this dying woman was me
