Unwritten

How many words have gone by unwritten thoughts sacrificed to summer's gentle breeze whispers of mind slipping in unbidden Often times happy with a playful tease But others nudging a painful displease. A note we meant to write, a card unsent another birthday we somehow forgot words of poetry, so clear our intent lost in sunlight's laughter, as is his plot, gaily gathering words we had once sought. If we could capture those moments that pass Write them in a small book we could carry Think of the momentous times we'd amass memories to pages we would marry, and, unwritten words could perhaps tarry. Congratulations on your win, you are right - the living should come first but perhaps a few notes for inspiration for later for poetry.

how many times, too many times dear poet, words that came and went riding on their own descriptive form...nicely done...good luck

Ann, your vividly descriptive "take" on why words may remain unwritten is excellent! Janice

I'd surmise that most of the best poetry is, as yet, "unwritten". BOL in the contest.

Hi Ann. Your poem had me thinking about all the unwritten words that have swirled around in my head while attempting to write poetry. :) My mother in law wrote a daily diary that we discovered after she had died and they painted a wonderful picture of her later life. I'll add that I like the fact that you have written about the unwritten. Cheers - Gary

Oh how wonderful, finding that diary! I kept a diary once, when young, but my boyfriend took it and read it. I was mortified and never, ever kept another! :) What a wonderful record of history diaries are, though. Thanks, Gary!
