O humanity doth like flower like something ever
even when night falls or tis twilight of dawn.
Or humanity is a word tolling, tolling, tolling of course
or tis like a summer snow or winter gale or doth kind
of autumnal windy tides of a thing.
H may stand for hope or hinter or peace
U may stand for uprightness or utilitarianism or
something merer or better
tis N may be a smile about the word man.
O why when a swarm of something will follow
we may behold remember such and such words?,
why when the world will awaken in the morning we will
do the same thing and when also it goes to sleep?,
why the bush even though is green is fearsome
or wild and war is pale or the moon is beholder
entertaining the eye or doth grasshopper?.
O for a content of eerie and vampire tonight?, what is
sometimes the best way out?.
Almost sixty years ago, my father
under suspicion, as a cattle rustler
Me a bit surprised
but it could have been as the title of a hustler
One day whilst in the dairy, my father with my brother milking cows
two young cops arrived to ask a leading question
Were you in such and such a paddock on such and such a day
if so what was your purpose, was put as a suggestion
They had evidence to support, that my father he did visit
That his actions in that paddock may be viewed as illicit
One cop from his pocket pulled a docket , that had been found
it was a receipt which displayed my fathers name
It was enough for them to investigate,
that's why to my father's property they came
To their leading question
what was it he was doing
I had a crap was his immediate reply
One young innocent cop asked my father what's a crap
They would have instantly known if my father said he was ........ a word that rhymes with ruing
perhaps my father would have had regrets if he had known what would later be brewing
NO CHARGES LAID
He says yes
But I say no
He says stay
But I say go
He says wait
But I wait for my fate
He's away
But I am here
My hearts bleeding
With no opportunity to sear
The smile appears
Then it fades
My eyesight is blurred
My mind is so dazed
The emotions they run wild
Like divorce papers sprawled and unfiled
Always casting me out
Then reeling me in
No matter what I do
I can't win
My nephews and nieces are all that I really care about
Sometimes with all people I want to scream and shout
The smell of alcohol and meth burns my nose
The bloody, blackened tears just flow
My heart's in impound
Too costly to fix
His and my emotions, just don't mix
The tow truck came and shipped my heart
To a tow-yard called "Broken Heart Mart"
No one wants to pay, it costs too much
Everyone makes excuses and such and such
I'm tired of not finding a way
I'm tired of the games guys play
We've invested three years at best
Through thick and thin and awful tests
Love's never forgotten or lost
It's always rediscovered no matter what the cost
I know he'll hike every trail
I know he'll climb every rock
I know he'll park any boat
At any shifting dock
Just to get to me
I know he'd travel the world 5 times over
Just to spend one night with me
To explain it more easier, I know he's in love with me
But sometimes I run out of options to spare
Sometimes I truly think he just doesn't care
Now he talks of starting a life
With a baby involved and me being his wife
The first 5 years are the hardest yet
Like a drama show starting on a staging set
What will I say, knowing our past?
How can I find out if we're going to last?
Where are the answers
To ten-thousand questions
Where is my professor
To teach me love sessions
Can I truly say to myself
That I love him, no doubt
Will I lie to myself to make it be true
Baby, can I honestly say, "I'll start a life with you?"
You may have been sober from alcohol and meth for 3 weeks
But it will surely take longer to mend my heart
And make me go weak in my knees
Like you used to
So grant me this wish, that I ask of thee
Do you really want to start your life with me?
I do not hear the words, far too busy in my ears
laying golden tracks of forceful movement
They carry me away, away. always to away.
Stretch horizon, many ones and zeros, far away.
Starlit destination on that noblest of hill.
Girls and ladies youthful arms, all reaching for our home.
My eyes look at me. They are not my own.
From plastered plains;
ears that hear the plastered pain of linings.
I am this microscope of telescoping ears still bathed
in voices from a light of shinings.
Voices of the nighttimes endless day.
Voices from the ears and eyes
sound and sight of every see and say.
Things they bring
to me, in whispers and in glances;
puppies, kittens, mystic kisses,
wishers of babies and second chances
Chicken scratch, chlorine sheets
blowing in winter storms.
We all die frozen on the tundra,
no final whispered sound.
Our people’s lended home a final
form arrested, final mound.
Explorers all, we do not know our stumbled gait.
We watch and wait and then we take the bait.
Mindless fish
with crooked intuition;
missing in between the lives we touch,
mirrors brushed and polished,
ears tickled in visions,
things we think we know; and such and such.
Eyes alone and closed, the time we’re here;
opened only when we disappear.
Oh, Oh, silence, I am here.
I am here. I will always be,
Leaving.
Those of us who love this much, grieve for beauty, holy, touch
and all lost love
from hearts that cannot feel.
Voices
who would love too much.
I am the branch I use to poke this earth.
Stirring her aspect, crying, gifted, cursed.
Awhaile, this ghosted touch.
Released to please, a stone to throw.
A brick you could not know.
Words can be whimsical, a merry-go-round
They run in a circle, they bounce up and down
They play hide-and-seek, until they are found
Look how quickly the little ones grow!
Words can seduce like a scandalous dance
They'll perplex the complex, if given a chance
They're as sincere as England, as sexy as France
As reckless as the caution they throw
Words can get tipsy if taken too much
The pretentious go on-and-on about such-and-such
The brutish ones can bail you out in a clutch
The foolhardy don't know they don't know
Words can be tacky, tongue wagging gabs
Words can be lavish and leave you the tab
Words can covertly steal and grab
Their smile is only for show
Words can impulsively issue a dare
Words can react with extravagant flair
But words must always be handled with care
When timing's too slow, for words on the go
Look how quickly the little ones grow!
As reckless as the caution they throw
The foolhardy don't know they don't know
Their smile is only for show
When timing's too slow
For words on the go-

Light a candle
Go on a vigil
Put a handle
On Twitter if you will
Say your piece
Grab sound-bytes
Find release
In media fights
Then off to a cocktail
To talk of your deed
Bemoan of happenings
As you drink up your mead
And when some time passes
Look up a cause
Think of starving masses
As you pour on the sauce
Such and such needs justice
Our liberty’s at stake
Set right what’s amiss
Just give them your take
Light another candle
Bask in its light
For brief is its mantle
As it fades overnight.
Through the times I’ve seen
Days of thunder and noise
Each cause a has-been
Aborted child of media’s choice

The Thief of Time
We arrive in the sun; it’s warm and so bright
We throw down our bags and go out in the light.
We are kissed by the breeze rustling through our hair
As our cheeks blush in the sun, we are willing to share.
It surrounds us and warms us, freckles pepper the skin
In the brightness and warmth we are still standing in.
Not a minute to waste before the sun sets
We stand pulling coats off, and our arms we outstretch.
The days are before us well that’s what we think
Before long though we see the first days sun sink.
It comes around quick it rises the next morn
One day gone a new one is born.
All too quick the seventh morning is here
The holiday is ending that much is clear.
We waited so long to be kissed by the sun
To unwind and relax and to have some good fun.
The time is gone we feel robbed, there was not any
The clock stole it away the days were not many.
Its over where did it go we didn’t get to do much
Just enjoyed each others company and food and such and such….
What I Want For Christmas
By Curtis Johnson
I suppose I could use a new pair of pants, a suit of cloths, a coat, or a light jacket. But that is not what I want. I don’t need new front teeth, but I suppose that I’d be happy with a nice new Volvo. But that’s not what I want. So please don’t ask me about needs and wants, because the media keeps me occupied with such things.
When I consider the plight of the lonely, the wounded, and the poor, I suppose that I would be happy if I received nothing at all. I would not complaint if I were simply blessed to be alive, fed, dry, and warm.
It’s Christmas, and there are always many things that people seek. Christmas is a season to draw near, to be dear, and to show love outside of the box. It’s even more meaningful if we keep it simple, avoid all the fuss, the rush, the stress, and maybe spend a little bit less.
There really is something that I would like for Christmas, but it’s more to do with giving to others and nothing to do with personal getting. It doesn’t cost a lot of money or a lot of time; and I don’t have to camp out in front of a store or form a long line. It’s like this: I want to see my family get together on Christmas eve, enjoy one another, have a nice meal, and share a gift or two. I want the satisfaction of knowing that two families in Uganda, Africa will eat on Christmas Day, because my wife and I sent money to them on December 3rd.
Christmas doesn’t have to cost much, if we would stop the rush, and cease buying so much of such and such. This blessed Christmas season, I would like to recapture three captivating moments that I experienced as a little boy at Christmas time.
I would like to recapture the aroma of my mama’s fresh baked cakes and pies at Christmas time. I would like to recapture the magnificent fragrance of apples and oranges throughout our house at Christmas time. And I would like to recapture the pleasant look on my daddy’s face after he had done his best to make all 12 of his children happy at Christmas time.
The blessedness of family life, and being able to give a little love outside the box.
Recapturing the aroma of mama’s baking, the fragrance of fruit, and daddy’s face at Christmas time. Some things in life are costly, but what I want most for Christmas is priceless.

How do you like it when it can happen to you?
A lot of times we go about our business
and think things such and such
can never happen to us
Such as losing a job, a family member
or some tragedies that can only happen
somewhere else
Not in my town
Not in my family
Are you sure about that?
Before you look on disdain at some other persons
Take a good look at yourself
Are you that fortunate?
Always free from burdens
from the travesty of life?
Be considerate will ya?
They may not be where you are at
as they may not have a choice
Things happened
- The cycles of life
- Good choices turned bad
Who knows?
They wouldn’t be where they are at
if they can help it
The looks you give today
may be what you will receive tomorrow
Give
Be kind
Lend a helping hand if you are able
Things will return tenfold to you
Sometimes don’t expect anything in return
The world is too big for you and me
And the problems are so vast
But it takes you and me and everyone
to fix it, to find solutions
It starts small and it will become big
It will not come overnight
But we will get a big chunk out of it
One thing at a time
Do what you can
Start where you are at
Change
Start with yourself
Ourselves
And go outward
That is how you change the world
Don’t talk
Just do
And see what God do
everyday we get one day closer
to the day that we will die
everyday one day closer
to the secrets that we now hide
now it can be told
by the ones who find the truth
so and so was such and such
ever sence they were in their youth
death will rob you of your privacy
and there's nothing you can do
no hidding, concealing just shameful reveiling
of what we secretly do
there is no telling what they'll find
when the day comes and the death is mine
and they have to move me out of my house
for sure they'll say that dark day i was surely a louse
but by then i'll be in heaven
"where no secrets are hid"
everybody, naked as jaybirds
laughing their assets off
for the dark contest
