Music Within

** Music Within **

Remarkably…
     	Oh, do! Please!
				  Begin the music

For my inner empty places —
    Such as they are…Please!
Sound some splendid inspiration
    For my waking…

Do bring all-surrounding some music!
That I might leap!
     Leap into a new day
As soon as the dawn’s
     Stroking sunshine bathes my face!

I promise to be alert to listen…And to wait
   — expecting — hopeful to hear,
Beauty’s range of notes Vibrating in my ear!
To
Carry me
  	Quite Off the floor!
								and
				 UP! Into the air!

Distinctively
      Dressed in a contemporary suite
				Of rythms and frequency modulations
As conducted along passages over the scales
		With different pitches
To excel! High!
   And
		  Then
					Down…
             As
The tempos and frequencies change
    By the composed signified
			   Syncopation
			   Of the beats…

 I’ll join in
Keeping time
     To the music’s
Play…
     And the varying frequencies…Heard
Surrounding do cause a vibrating within me…
So naturally seamed to my nerves…Enlivening,

Enchanting
     Dance…Out! To rise
From my sleeping life’s dormant places…
In motions choreographed and set down…In
Footprints to follow
Between glistening stars’ beams found
   — By Divine grace — in my beating heart!

As You Pull the Trigger of Disappointment

Disappointment serves a good purpose
When silence cuts deep
The structure of a moment in your mind
Can show you that your purpose in life was never blind!
When silence cuts so deep that it is difficult to keep your composure
Then you know that the measure of life is signified by
The malice portrayed in the past!
From noise to silence
You understand that a calamity brings sudden changes!
There is now enmity in your life
This path of injustice is a winter’s tale
But you refuse to become a pale figure!
As you pull the trigger of disappointment
You realize that it can be the key to success!
Your pride can stand on the right side and that is why
You can say that when silence cuts deep
You can keep yourself strong because
You know that you belong to something better Or someone better!

Nativity Play

(True story)

As nativity plays go, this one was a doozy
with plenty of chances to fail
and even after all the countless rehearsals
it did, on a Biblical scale.
My part, I was Joseph, and Barbara was Mary,
the Jesus doll wrapped in a sheet
three wise men in the wings with tea towels on their heads
plus trainers and pumps on their feet.
The donkey was resting, a little bizarre
since the creature was mounted on wheels
and in the light of the candles it's red plastic handle
just made the scene slightly surreal.
The stable was made from the school's Wendy house
for the play they used just two hinged walls
as the wise men came Joseph leaned back on one arm
and the whole structure started to fall.
The look from the prompt at the front of the stage
signified I was in real deep trouble
as the magi and shepherds all valiantly scrambled
to pull Mary from out of the rubble.
The infant child surfaced though held upside down
from the tangle of thatch straw and rafters
as his messenger Gabriel rolled on the floor
in a fit of hysterical laughter.
The following year I found I was demoted
as teacher didn't want to lose sleep
over what new disaster I'd find myself master
so I took the back row as a sheep.

The feet of twenty cousins were trampling and pounding the floor
As my Aunt Pearl's house trembled and suddenly became smaller.
We were racing with the games of 'who could find who' behind the door
While munchkin toddlers all dressed up waddled or became crawlers.

Outside peering in surrounding the commotion, stood horses, pigs, hens and cows
Who seemed overtaken to see their caretaker's hustle and bustle scrambling,
As the grown-ups were talking about the weather being good and how
Aunt Modena was so upset and mad with Uncle Charlie's gambling.

They spoke about jobs, recipes, and Pete's new car with broken windows.
And the grades in school gave bragging rights to parents whose kids did well
Our oldest cousin Mallie blushed from the top of her head to her toes
When Aunt Ethel announced loudly of her secret wedding to her beau Dell.

In the meantime we did our chores in this menagerie of muss and fuss
And helped put down the silverware and napkins on the many makeshift tables
We tried to seat everyone, at least fifty of us with little space between us
We tucked our elbows tightly squished as I squirmed against Aunt Mable

The sweaty kitchen was a sauna of sights and smells
From the Turkey with Cornmeal Dressing to Apple and Cherry Pies.
All the aprons worn were like family flags that signified well
The identity chosen by each cook as they donned their own surmise.

Sweet Potato Pie, fresh Cranberries, and Cream churned just that day
Sweet Peas and Carrots, Turnip Greens and Mashed Taters my favorite.
The Turkey stood in the middle boldly roasted golden on display
Steaming vapors and cooks praising all the work it took for us to savor it.

The clanking plates were passed the warm brimful bowls were too
While hands were held in prayer as we 'sushed' the giddy laughter.
We ate, we talked and filled our tummies and hearts full to renew
Our love and giving to each other and be together happily ever after!

A Single White Lily

We were apart..
You had taken your own journey
I had taken mine..

We remain apart..
Moments..
Hours..
Days .
Weeks..
Months..
Years
Upon every waking hour..
I reminese and ponder..
When our beating hearts were one..

A Single White Lily
Held in my hand
There it stood..
A representation of our deep love

A beautiful lily..
Signified our connection
Had yearned for your warm embrace..
Many restless nights..
I imagine your soft caresses..
Your sweet kisses..
All captured in my mind..
When a camera captures a photo..
Frozen in time..

A Single White Lily..
Frozen times of bittersweet memories..
An endurance of heartache so profound..

A Single White Lily..
Held in my hand..
Had felt sad and blue..
As tears had rolled down my cheeks..
A Single tear drop had rolled onto my white lily..

A Single White Lily..
A Single tear drop
The essence of our soulful connection..
Shall always remain..
Though our journeys are far away..
Our soul connection is endless and timeless..

Fields of Pink

i often wondered why did October
in all of her beauty
become national breast cancer month

the trees bear resemblance to the sun
the yellow, orange, scarlet folds
softly spiraling in the cool winds
was it the red, as it tumbled down
a remembrance of blood shed
as lives were lost?

was it the bitter cold bite
that signified ending
and the bare trees
that followed
as fall exited?

as i looked around me
daybreak blushed across the sky
the trees lined the streets
flushed in reds and oranges
the dormant green grass
began yellowing around the edges
amidst all of this
were fields of pink
a thousand little flags
slow dancing in the wind
as leaves twirled around them
each flag depicting
a life touched
a battle fought
a win or loss
against this disease

i then realized
October's birthstone
pink tourmaline
is said to have many faces
express every mood
foster inner harmony
and strength
it all makes sense

as i look at each flag
i see faces of many
in my community
a battle they all fought
unwillingly
i see joy
i see sorrow
i see pain
a mother
a sister
an aunt
and i see memory
all together
in fields of pink
and i now understand...

Inspired by the high school children
I am proud to drive to school... they raised
over 1000 dollars for breast cancer
by selling these flags, the school grounds
are fields of pink and most the flags dedicated
to those lost...I dedicate this poem to them and
our community! Thanking them for the inspiration!

Approach of Light

One has to be aware of the wandering moon,
sometimes still caressing near the bluish noon.
Measures of days signified by the queen of night,
bowing to deities over wide water shores to all might.
Bringing forward the blessings to the forgotten dream,
providing save passage to that purpose keen.
Beyond the ideal towards enchanted goods,
where more is meant that meet all mental foods.
In service high to touch that hermitage,
where faintest stars in still, are the majestic judge.
Signs of symbols reflecting infolded spheres,
slowly revealing agents of necessities coming to years.
Turning moon time table to the perfect fit,
intimate hands that speak the voice to submit.
The waning and waxing phase through daily mansions,
nocturnal mother and her love expansions.
To cover the eyes that blear feeble illusion,
creating integrity with firm conclusion.
Sweet echo calling from many lives with omens,
melodies that sustain the purity of emotions.
References from recorded certainties with its bliss,
pensive meditation and treasures from the dark abyss.

A lovely day, the eighth of May, with sunshine and light breeze
You could not tell, that all’s not well and we felt safe at ease
A little blip, a video clip, showed damage way out west
But that was far, and could not mar our little place of rest

The march of time, brought clouds that climb, into an angry sky
And soon the voice, gave us a choice, as winds began to fly
I stood and watched, the radar notched, and signified a storm
I waited to see, the possibility, of it’s mighty form

In lapsing light, at infamous heights, they formed and went away
With funnels strong, it was not long, I heard the voice say
“Take cover NOW, the storms somehow, are imminent and direct”
So in a panic, acting quite frantic, we sought a way to protect

As sullen skies stopped, the stillness topped our deep distraught concern
And all was still, and quiet until, the skies began to turn
Clouds regrouped, and trees were scooped, like toothpicks they did snap
And running fast, entrance at last, was like a treasure map

We were inside, seeking to hide, from winds and funnel cones
Windows broke, and trees did stroke, our little country home
Our chimney fell, the stones did sail, the rocks blasted our roof
The wind and rain, sound like a train, the damage is the proof

Well I must say, it went away, as fast as it had started
It seemed much longer, as it was stronger, just before it parted
It buried the cars, with trees like bars, in only thirty seconds
With doors blocked, the driveway socked, and freedom clearly beckoned

We were blessed, and if you guessed, this was real and true
In cleanup mode, our small abode, with so much left to do
I ache for those, whose loss arose, to greater heights than this
With nature’s aim, no one’s to blame, just pray it goes amiss
