The Two-Winged Creature

Ah! What was that?
I shriek and freeze
Something flew past
I almost dropped.

It wasn’t a bird
Or anything sweet
It had long feelers
And too many feet.

It circled once
Then took a dive
I questioned how
I’d make it out alive.

Its shell was shiny
Its stare was mean
The ugliest thing
I’ve ever seen.

I grabbed a shoe
Prepared to swing
But it took flight.
The cursed thing had wings!

I ran and screamed
Down the hall
Not so brave
Not tough at all.

But fear held me back,
I couldn’t get away,
Hands trembling,
I faced it anyway.

Then I saw it
I stepped in slow,
Still full of fear,
It didn’t move,
But I wouldn’t go near.

I grabbed a slipper,
Threw hard from afar,
Missed on the first,
Then followed up hard.

I raised my sandal,
Gave one last swing,
A nasty crunch,
I ended the thing.

Premium Member Answering Shriek To My Left

In the woods no right of way, no right to live, no right to play.
I travel quickly, as dusk is beginning. Woods are thick, on this day.
Wood tick and spider heaven, I walk gingerly, on wet old leaves.
Dog has deserted me, long gone, chasing things she thinks she sees.

The air is thick, the sun is dying. I trip on a twig, I end up crying.
My ankle feels sprained, my knee is quite broke, maybe dying.
The woods are silent, but my hair is on end, something is watching.
I will be devoured, through my tears the woods are blurry blotching.

I scoot my sorry sore body over to a stick, hoping it is not a snake.
Pain shoots through me with every single sad boot step I take.
The dog is probably back at the house gobbling up a fancy steak.
My husband has no boundaries when it comes to our lab, Big Jake.

I inch my way to the steps in the forest, built of railroad ties.
Each laborious step, has me feeling the terror of unseen eyes.
A wolf? A coyote? A predator, of some sort no doubt.
Landing hard on first step I scream, shriek and howl all about.

An answering shriek comes from the forest to my immediate left.
It raises the hair on my arms, and it quite takes my breath.
A woman is being murdered in the trees next to me.
A woman is being raped, and cut up into threes.

Bristles on my arms curl my toes and frighten my face.
Whatever makes that devilish sound, is not of the human race.
I stop and I think and I realize at once, I am clearly beaten.
I sit and I wait for the mountain lion who has probably not eaten.

PURPLE LIQUID TOMB
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glass cool against her cheek, a curved silent, liquid prison.
     A vicious dawn clings to her skin-the scent of lavender and regret.
She remembers spritzing, a nervous habit before sleep,
     a fragile shield against restless sleep and shadowy nights.
Now, the night is gone, replaced with imprisoning purple,
     by the ghost of lavender, by the echo of her own skin.
She inhales deeply trying to understand how she became the perfume,
     the distilled longing, instead of the woman who wore it.
The world outside the perfume bottle, a blurry kaleidoscope, unreachable.
     Only the scent remains. ‘Do they smell me?’
‘Do they understand me? This barrier of scent is a warning
     flashing, DO NOT APPOACH TOO CLOSELY.’
‘Will anyone notice I’m gone? Will they reach for this bottle,
     spritzing themselves with my dis-ease and despair?’
She yells, but only the fragrance answers~
     a silent floral shriek lost in the beautiful, gilded glass bottle.
Lost in her liquid tomb, she releases a morbidly silent question. 'Is this mortality~
     to be forever the scent of a woman who no longer exists outside this bottle?’
The Creatures of the Night
The night is dark, the night is deep,
The night itself is now asleep;
But there are some nocturnal creatures deprived of slumber
Lurking in the city's allies and corners
Just waiting for an innocent prey
To come across their way;
The hapless victims always try to fight
But seldom can they withstand the might
Of those crafty creatures of the night
Who always remain out of sight.
The night is dark, the night is deep
It's been darkened by the gruesome deed
Of the nasty vultures who tend to feed
On the carcasses of the ones who don't heed
The warning signs that they often hear
That the devilish creatures are indeed near.
The city is nice, the city is fine
Though you may hear once in a while
Echoing through the streets at midnight strike
A bloodcurdling shriek or a pitiful whine
Then you'll realize that perhaps this time
The nocturnal creatures have sat to dine.
The night is dark, the night is deep
But why does the night silently weep?
The night was young and so beautiful
But now she is a sight so pitiful,
She's always scared and full of fear
Perhaps the nocturnal creatures are near!
Self-assertion blatant, repelling babble exuberant, closing floodgates you eschew, none fooled by you.
you speak,
winds shriek,
shout loud,
feel proud,
you brag
self tag,
your lies
none buys,
voice lone,
place shown,
musk breaks,
face wrecks,
mouth shut,
stops glut.
You blurt garbage dirt, off your guard, torn to shard, do a volte-face, eat words in disgrace.
An Epoch of Bloody Tears
Pain that takes up residence from inside of the mind
The stain of red blood, the sting of crimson lines
I want to be alone but surrounded at the same time
But if I open up the floodgates who knows what they'll find
Can't let myself be a burden, I'll carry my own weight
But it boils up inside of me, who knows what I'll create
I scream into a pillow and try to siphon up my tears
Don't feel a thing but numbness that punctures my being like a spear
The world is cold and desolate and I brave its depths alone
Every day that time moves forward is a step into the unknown
I walk the line between life and death with every single thought
Am I worthy to live or do I belong underground, left forever to rot?
Is there a point to this cruel journey that I am forced to embark?
When every obstacle takes its toll and leaves its wicked mark?
I'm not scared of heights I'm scared of myself choosing to take the leap
When I pick up the knife and look in the mirror and accept my defeat
If my essence is destined to vanish into the fine threads of the void
Is this rat race worth the blood and tears if it'll only be destroyed?
I'm so tired of all the medicine that's clouding up my mind!
I refuse to accept that reality is this savage by design!
There must be something to justify the eons that I suffer!
I lose love from everyone I meet, even my own mother!
I shriek a plea to deities afar to have mercy on my fate!
Because all I'm told is that good things come to all of those who wait!
And with panting breath I fall down on my knees and shed those cursed tears
When the universe is full of legions of demons that I fear
So if I close my weary eyes tonight and let it all fade to black
Maybe when I wake up I'll forget everything I lack
Or maybe I'd be happier to drift into oblivion and never return back
Premium Member Broken: His Thoughts
He woke up in silence, alone with the birds,
Peacefully alone on the shore,
He woke up every hour alone in his head,
Peacefully awaiting the storm,
And then it began, slowly at first,
His thoughts becoming loud, became real,
His thoughts became more than he could control,
They controlled how is body would feel,
His thoughts attacked like a screaming insane,
A symphonic and wild mental harm,
Then all of a sudden he would close both his eyes,
In his head became silent and calm,
Numb with confusion, numb to the war,
No thoughts he’d silently shriek,
Unable to think of anything now,
Every hour he’d drift back to sleep.
Premium Member She Almost Got a Tootlerack
I do not like to get snootlgsh this early in the day
But I heard this tale from my whartlesnot of a neighbor
And even though she is sometimes titlewhemp
I felt the tale had some merit, and it was a fun tale to repeat.
So here goes…..
Farglesmean Whomplesplat was driving along highway 140
When a smelly black and white kipperstink walked out in front of her
Not being fond of tomato juice, and this being her new tacklepoo,
She slammed on her brakes, causing a carslerump
A breathofdeath was called to the scene by six people.
In full uniform, the breathofdeath walked to her car to write her a tootlerack.
Of course she was wearing  the sexy low-cut polka dotted fizzlsprint she always wears.
Her right corplfunk was practically waving in the breathofdeath’s face.
She used her breathiest voice, naturally.
Pretending the carslerump was someone else’s fault.
I am nodding in a snootlgsh way, wanting this whartlesnot of a neighbor to get on with it.
The kipperstink was long gone, and no one else claimed to have seen it.
I am nodding harder, wanting the punch line.
The officer reached in to get her license and accidentally touched her corplfunk.
Oh, she planned that! I shriek, delighted.
His face turned as red as a strawberry.
And she got away without a tootlerack, I guessed.
We howled with laughter thinking of this.
Premium Member What Might Happen
Haunted  by a bright glow dawn
green flecked grass yet fresh mown lawn
verses spring to mind each day
sunshine has its  lustrous ray
Skies awash with vivid hue
shades on canvass that imbue
clouds of yellow, orange and red
sculpt fair passages ahead
Watch the coal-rimmed sweet  moon peep
linger when the world‘s asleep
streetlight gaze on ice cold  pier
night owls hoot but never fear
Children shriek in rippling stream
playful chatter, oak wood dream
mother, father, bound to smile
now relaxing  for awhile
City dwellers rise again
darting towards the nearest train
wonder as they often do
what might happen, something new
Impatient winds shriek loud with anguished cries,
     Sunlight giving way to dark tempest’s gain.
     Silver light streaking across darkened skies,
     Squalls blowing against door and window pain.
     Sunlight giving way to dark tempest’s gain,
     Driven rain splashes into flooded pools.
     Squalls blowing against door and window pain,
     Gail tossed trees bend beneath the weather’s rule.
     Driven rain splashes into flooded pools,
     Chill hail clattering from storm tormented skies.
     Gail tossed trees bend beneath the weather’s rule,
     Impatient winds shriek loud with anguished cries.
