Days of Love In Flushing: Anticipation

(for those in Kwangju: May 18, 1980)*
after Dante

Taking this peach within the mouth, the tongue
hovers around its sunset skin like a lover
and its Sappho sweet bite is heaven. A song

of honeysuckled rivers is like your
kiss… The night is in July. At once
Platonic love is redemption or

when the world is beyond our Kwangju…Please
let the streets be freed from anticipation
of the bayonet and gun… Let litter seize

this street or any avenue… Plan
my kiss and we will be happy and free.
The night is the peach---the dead sun…

Recall the dress you wore as a weapon, me
wearing---I forgot… Your raven hair, soft
yet sharp by its embroidery

of strands being held by one silver pin. The left
hand of God and right hands of angels
must have done it… It was my dry throat

drinking from Styx River which made the chills
even more pronounced at the sight of you.
The dress’ print was you. It was petals

of prints within splotches of orange, gold, red, too…
and white--- bandages… Horrible bandages.
I’m wearing black/white. Suddenly we choose

to hug underneath those flickering pages
of streetlights… we an arrow’s color shot through bodies---Rage…

*Excerpted from Chalmers Johnson’s Blowback : The Costs and Consequences of the
American Empire: “General Chun did not wait long after talking with Gleysteen (US
Ambassador to South Korea) to complete the coup d’etat he had begun the previous
December…On May 18, 1980, a few hundred demonstrators in Kwangju took to the streets to
protest the imposition of martial law. They were met by the paratroopers of the 7th Brigade
of the Korean special forces, known as the “black berets,” who had a well known reputation
for brutality going back to their service on the American side in the Vietnam War…Gleysteen
wrote, “Rumors reaching Seoul of Kwangju rioting say special forces used fixed bayonets and
inflicted many casualties on students… Some in Kwangju are reported to have said that
troops are being more ruthless than North Koreans ever were.” [When asked of the decision]
Gleysteen replied, “I grant it was the controversial decision, but it was the correct one. Do I
regret? I don’t think so.” (112-113)

Down the Rabbit Hole April 6

Sam Adams Goes Down the Rabbit Hole, NaNoPoMo Prompt

Sam Adams was having a bad night
He often would fall into a deep trouble sleep
Where his mind would go down deep

Into the proverbial rabbit holes
Exploring one dark nightmare
After another.

He saw himself in Ukraine
As a front line soldier
Watching the Russians
Come in killing people
Left and right.

Saw the Russians line up
And execute men
Raping women and children
Setting the victims on fire.

Then he was in the U.S.
When the nukes began to fall
All over the world
Armageddon on steroids.

Nuclear madness erupted
The Russians bombing NATO allies
The US, French and British firing back
Berlin, DC, London, Moscow became
Nuclear graveyards.

China bombs Taiwan,
Then invades the island.
India and Pakistan trade nuclear attacks.
Iran attacks Israel and Saudi as well.

North Korea invades the South
Nukes flying over Seoul
And Tokyo

Amid this total madness
Giant ships appear in the sky
And a full scale
the alien invasion begins.
.
The terrified survivors
flee the carnage
As nuclear winter
settles on the land.

The invaders from the sky
End the war
Enslaving most humans
That had survived.

Somehow Sam Adams and his wife
Were still alive
Living in a refugee camp
Deep in the mountains.

Fleeing the wild animals
The tigers, lions, and wolves
That were feasting on dead humans
And cattle everywhere.

The aliens following the humans
Looking for more to enslave.

The nuclear war though was over
The few remaining soldiers
Fighting against the common enemy,

Sam Adams woke up
Realizing that it was all
Just a nightmare.

Turning on the TV
Watching the carnage in Ukraine
He wondered if his nightmare
Was it an omen of the future?

David Wier

David Wier OBE started out with a crowd of only five,
Watching him race in the fast track events very alive,
In the swift wheelchair races, as he is spinally injured,
From his birth, and could not use his legs anchored.

Disappointed with these Paralympics in Atlanta 1996,
Dignity did beckon him to ask people then to quickly fix,
This sheer ignorance about the worth of disabled folks,
So that the crowds then came, and disability was talks.

He’s a marathon racer and so won London six times,
He won two golds at the 2008 Beijing summertimes,
He won four golds at the 2012 Paralympics of flares,
Three for track, and one for the marathon that wares.

He succeeded in the Great North Runs with records,
And in the Great Manchester runs, like many Concords,
And has flown to Switzerland for the Oensingen run,
And to New York as well as to Portugal, Lisbon of sun.

Baroness Tanni-Gray Thompson inspired his long days,
The female wheelchair racer who won 16 medals, daze,
At the Paralympics, starting in Seoul in 1988 with speed,
She took the crowd to a very certain magic place indeed.

Twice he has won the British Wheelchair Sports Award,
He was disabled sports personality of the year, forward,
In 2006 as he was named, and in 2010 proud and tall,
He became part of the London Youth Games Fame Hall.

Wier has three kids, two with his present partner Emily,
A boy and two girls, and to Emily he’s not an anomaly,
Because he loves her very much, and who’s yet again,
Pregnant with baby, and so won’t being going to Rio ken.

Police Action

The year was nineteen-forty eight
Was in the month of September,
It was, what the Russians did
That shall always be remembered,

A communist government
To place was the chore,
Now, has come to pass
The heightening clod war,

North Korea, so it seemed
To be just the place,
To strength Russia's way of life
And slap the worlds face,

Southward did their army march,
Parallel 38 they need to cross
So they did so very quickly
With barely any loss,

Mr. Truman, saw it fit,
To speak to the U.N.
We must not let this happen
No! not ever again,

From the air, and from the sea
We must stop the advance,
If communism should win the day
We don't have a chance,

Twenty-nine countries
Answered duties call,
The U.N.'s main objective
Communism, it must fall,

The first year was decisive
We were pushing back,
Was then, that something happened
To our brave attack,

Twenty-nine allied countries
Fighting but just three,
We began to loose our ground
No ! how can this be?

From Pusan to Kimpo
Inchon through to Seoul,
To the 38th parallel
No further will we go,

To this very day, we are standing
On guard at that very line,
They now have nuclear weapons
We must keep that in mind,

We seem to war with countries
With our vigor and our might,
So, we ate American people
Can sleep in peace at night,

We went to Korea
Our objective was to win,
However, it did not happen
Therefore, I guess we'll try again!

May God Bless all the Service Men and Women who served in Korea.......

Insomnia Blues April 3

Insomnia Blues Writing Com

O Dark hundred hours

04 a.m.

You got the insomnia blues
Nothing works
You can’t sleep
You stare at the ceiling.

Your mind plays an endless tape
Of gloom, and doom
worries and fears
all night long.

the latest dark
 SF series you saw
The latest scary headlines
endless possibilities play out.

the latest news of war
the latest news about the stock market
about the endless pandemic
Dancing across your mind’s internal eye.

What if I have COVID>
What if have Cancer?
What if I have big Alzheimer’s
What is the stock market wipes me out?

What if the North Koreans invade Seoul?
Where would we go to escape the invasion?
What if the zombie apocalypse starts?
What if, what if, what if……

You stare at your watch.

4:01 a,m.

You try to sleep, but nothing works
The dark thoughts continue to play
Across your mind’s eye
Tormenting you, torturing you.

4:05 a,m.

You debate whether
To give up
Get up
Start your morning routine.

4:10 a.m.

You give in
And try to sleep
Checking the time
Every few minutes.

Perhaps you might
Get a few fitful hours
Of much-needed sleep
Most likely not.

6:30 a.m.

Until day-break
Blasts you awake
As the dawning sun
Fills the room.

You get up
Having had only two hours of sleep
That is the curse
Of the insomnia blues.

A Moment of Silence

How do I feel. ¿?
So much noise from outside
Blocking every sign of Eternal on every side
My head full ,my mind drowning right in these :
so much noise, my eyes cringes, my ears buzzing
My spirit barely surviving in my soul
Should I leave here and go to Asia ,somewhere in Seoul
No! I should move far away to live a moment in city of Vatican
'451 as population? Yeah that sounds like the plan

He said this, he did that. He mocked me
She sly me. Terrorism. Mass shooting. Nations Treasury looting
Noises that kill the spirit
What's the essence of existence ?
Vibes of positivity so make sense
Having springs and sweet cool breeze as my fence
Close to the clouds. Dew immense
My spirit extends his hands into the heaven
My mind dwells in forever
My head at Bliss
A trip outta the world so it seems ......

A small house on a hill
With plenty of tea and no flea
Sounds like a peak for my mind to prey on thoughts
With no noise or Boom of a loud mouth ... !
Perhaps sounds self-centred but I would rather be that
Than centre my mind around all these noises
Agoraphobia as it all seems ......

Premium Member Don'T Loot My Store

How the police acted was a terrible thing
to that unsuspecting citizen named Rodney King.
What they did on that video was definitely not right.
I don’t blame you for getting up to fight.
This incident has caused rioting through the night.

Well, we are no strangers to states of war.
My family had to endure it some two generations before.
They all went through a living hell
when those communists crossed the thirty-eighth parallel.
After the fighting stopped, they left Seoul, Korea.
My mother and father settled down here in America.
They opened a store right here in Los Angeles.
We have been living decently because of this.

If you try to loot my store, I give you fair warning.
We will defend our property all night until morning.
Attempt it, and your soul will be bound for heaven.
I will give you a taste of my Magnum three fifty-seven.
We can take care of ourselves. It won’t be hard
There is no need for the police or National Guard.
Do you know what we can do to any foolish lummox?
We can have you shipped to Pyongyang in a pine box.

Tale of Two Hearts -Seoul Version-

Your eyes tell me a story,
A story With you,
With you a story so pure,

Name a wish by wishing on a star,
A wish,like a first love story,
A love story so far away like Seoul,

Seoul, the place we met,two lonely hearts,
Closer with each other,we took an interlude-dive,
A promise,a forever epiphany of togetherness,

A dream,a land covered in snow flowers,
Hug me to forget,Hug me to remember,
Let's be each other's piece of peace,
Let's be drunk in each other's love,

We took this journey,a reflection of our promise,
Set me free,Set you free,
Like dreamers flying to a blue side,

Interlocked hearts,stay,
A forever rain,stay alive,
Tonight under elixir stars,we run,
We run like friends, free spirits, free youth,

We are each other's home when we feel lost,
Young hearts,Young forever,
When the leaves die,we will bloom again, another spring day awaits,

I wish you a sweet night,
My Angel,
Calm your hectic mind,
Life goes on,
We are our safety zone,

We are lights awake,
Good night,
For a brand new day is mine and yours.
