Inspired by the Iron Maiden Song, Tears of a Clown
Drinking, he recalled the Circus Grim,
and the strange world that ruined him.
He had done anything for a laugh.
Once, the magician sawed him in half.
He'd traveled the whole country round.
Now tears fall from the circus clown.
An orphan child, running from disaster,
fell into the service of a cruel ringmaster.
At first, he was never seen on stage,
laboring to clean a hungry lion's cage.
In dreams, he wore a jewelled crown,
and he rose to fame and renown.
The juggler, fire-eater and contortionist,
joked with him and the beauty he loved best.
It was then, a drunken challenge, he made,
and, to his surprise she accepted, unafraid.
She caught his eye as she came down,
a moment frozen for a circus clown.
His secret love, he thought, flew like a dove,
enchanting him, like an angel above.
No matter how he tries, he won't forget,
the trapeze girl who missed the net.
He'll swill whisky until he drowns
in tears, the broken-hearted circus clown.
This is the Day She Turns 30
by Lori Maria Walton
This is the day
when she turns thirty
but it is just a day
that nature, in its eternal flow,
acknowledges with a smile at
human constructs,
which are all caged.
This is the day
when she turns thirty,
receives roses, plays with daisies,
hums a secret love song,
gliding with steady wings
in the conference of the birds,
who are all free.
This is the day,
when the mirror looks into a blue, shining ocean
of spectacular eyes and sees
beauty, magic and elegance
making love on the seabed
which is translucent
She rises from the daisies
far above the day
and becomes timeless
she surfs with the minerals under an absolute sky
I see her and I see her beaming
behind a veil of joy

Violet Haze (Sequel to The Raven)
You twirl your hair like Death indeed,
And like to sit back and watch my poems bleed.
My love and sorrow, all for you,
You know I never slink out of the blue.
But now I wonder all along,
If Death is actually you, my dear.
And who am I to shed a tear?
But I still bury you in song.
Between the lines of a poem, my dear.
For until we see it crystal clear,
I cannot tell what’s right and wrong.
My world falls into the void, my dear.
I wonder if we’ll ever become
Friends or lovers or family, it’s all a mystery
My love.
But ultimately, I think we’d be
All of the above.
So sail to sea in a ship, my dear.
Sail away from my greatest fear.
That you will lose *yourself* in the tide,
My love,
Forced to drown with a sudden shove.
It comes out of the blue, my dear.
And I cannot save you, this I fear.
You have to leave this ship, my dear,
You have to leave ‘your love.’
Behind to drown in your place, my dear.
I see your heart above
As your ‘love’ steers away from
The open bay.
And as I fly o’er the sky above,
I cannot save you again, my love,
You’re sunk beneath the sea.
And your ‘love’ sails away, my dear,
With a boisterous, monstrous glee.
But he cannot begin to see, my dove,
Your flight with me and stars.
As we escape this world.
It’s always you and me.
So which do you think will it be, my dear?
On Jupiter or on Mars?
I found it safely tucked away,
Held deep within her private things
She put it there, with lock and key
Intended, not, for eyes to see?
A cherished thing?.... Forgotten, ...when?
Or was it not?...Perhaps and then....
Does it tell of secret love?
Another spring, or just a whim?
A treasured time, a change of fate?
The date it holds, confuses me
Revealing now, "what might have been?"
When sleep upon her eyelids came
And took her fairness far from here
What held her name, with antique flair
Of lilacs blooming, roses paired
With lacy hearts, and cupid's spear
This tells me secrets, something dear...
Someone loved her, someone cared
long before my Grandpa dared

In ‘50s India, an era of forbidden pre-marital love,
Where such love would give scorn to family’s name space,
Some teens would stare, and smile at each other with love,
In the crowded venues of festivals and fairs to ignite their love.
In hushed whispers and stolen glances,
Lovers entwined in secret romances,
Each word inscribed on paper's white,
A hidden script, concealed from sight.
Messages of love, with trembling hand,
Passed in shadows, where secrets withstand,
Hidden in folds, away from prying eyes,
A fragile connection, a tender guise.
Oh, the risks they took, those hearts aflame,
For love, forbidden, carries a heavy blame.
The penalty loomed, like a sword's sharp edge,
Yet love's fire burned, refusing to be dredge.
In lovers' hearts, a silent flame would grow,
Through adversity's path, they would bestow,
Sometimes tragic, a tale of woe,
Yet rarely, a blissful glow.
For amidst the darkness, a few found light,
A love story blessed, with stars aligned right.
But many a heartbreak, tears concealed,
Dreams shattered; love's wounds revealed.
I have only recently met you, even though I have known you forever
for so long we have been strangers,
but now we are almost birds of a feather.
I've known your smile and I love your laughter,
but I know you cry, I've even wiped your tears,
some of which I have caused, I fear.
I have known jealousy with every golden wisp of hair that has flown through the air it's true they say dont covet but my sister,
I have been jealous of you.
Your smile so bright has hidden so much pain and each time I promise myself I wont let that happen again,
I understand it is hard to trust me, why would you I haven't always been there
if only you knew how much I really care.
Mom gave me a gift thirty six years ago, the years that I lost,
I should never have let you go.
I know you have seen darkness, fought it off with every fiber
my darling, I admire that so much in you, I love your fire.
Please dont ever give in, dont ever, ever go, please my angel
dont leave me alone.
You are a precious treasure to me, you are incredibly valuable, i am so glad we have been joined together from the start, because, you have my heart.
I was told we would get closer when kids came along and I thought that was just a pretty song, the truth is we are, they were right,
even when it looked like they were wrong.
I love my nephew so very much I didn't think that could be true,
but you gave me him and now I have even more love for you.
I cannot wait to be there on your wedding day, I have planned every detail,
I want your dream wedding to come true, come what may.
You dressed in white, Garth by your side,
what a handsome man, what a perfect bride.
The end of my letter has finally come but I will never, ever stop saying thank you, my little sister for being part of my life
all I can leave with you is my love and promise
that my love for you will never, never end
Monique, I have the best, you are my sister and my friend.

The moonbeam wears its glittered thread,
while stars lift evening's fine sarong
a trance ascends far overhead
moist kisses fondling a raw song
While stars lift evening's fine sarong
in secrets flushed …dark turns to light
when hungry lips meet to adorn
a fragrant tryst of soul’s birthright
A trance ascends far overhead
to drape clandestine hours…winds tease,
pouring a thirst on mouths that spread
dusk to sun in heavenly bliss
Moist kisses fondling a raw song
As lovers moan in harmony
To steal the gaps…now worlds belong
In hush of oneness, as they flee.

A retourne is a French form of poetry,
similar to the kyrielle, with four (4) quatrains
written in tetrameter (8 syllables/line).
- Lines 2, 3, and 4 are REPEATED
as the first line of verses 2, 3, and 4
Fervid thoughts fill my heart as I sleep.
It overflows with emotions tonight
for a secret love I've kept fathoms deep,
avowed only in the Sonnets I write.
In poetry we share the flames of desire
and his arms tremble with the need of me.
Passion kindled 'til there's a blazing fire.
My whispers are sighs in an urgent plea.
I've pages of rhymes about love's yearning,
and dancing with him 'neath a pale gold moon.
I imagine his touch leaves me burning
to free my love from its confined cocoon.
Take wing, my heart and fly without delay
The secret long kept; I must now convey.
I am not shy but I choose to love you in secrecy,
where it is only I,
I know you are not single,
daily I am praying for your heartbreak,
so I can be your nurse and nurse your heartache.
My gallery is a store of your pictures,
every time you post, I update,
being a secret admirer, my fate,
I know your eyes aren't mine,
but I am willing to learn.
Before I retire, I stare into your eyes,
every time I am lost in your smiles,
I choose to love you in secrecy,
where it is only I,
I am not shy,
but the heart wants what it wants.
Like a passenger waiting to board,
I will patiently wait for my turn,
turn to make you mine,
but for now, I choose to hide you,
hide you in between my heart walls.
To my secret love, I love you,
each heart beat, echoes your name,
this feeling wild than wildfire, hard to tame,
if you look into my eyes they will say the same,
but I choose to love you in secrecy,
where my heart is safe.
John Lenda (Poetic World,2022)
My head is swirling all around
My feet are whirling off the ground
My arms are open, never closed
Chills run from hair to my toes
My eyes seeing the first time
I'm hearing sweet love bell chimes
My legs are weak and wobbly
What are you doing to me
My whole bodies out of whack
From this secret love attack
My senses I can not control
You begin to take a toll
On my brain--I can't defend
Any signals that you send
You are like a hypnotist
Your spell of love I can't resist
Trapped in a web of desire
Of flames that are getting higher
The heats making me too hot
My heart is about to start
Melting and it doesn't care
Embers flying everywhere
Leaving sparks so intense
I can not make any sense
Of how I am getting weak
Every time I hear you speak
I am usually so strong
Now I know the whole day long
There is no way I can fight
The way I feel through the night
As my brain is telling me
It is useless tryna' be
Escaping your hypnotic ways
I need you more through the days
