Do you believe in love?
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Do you believe love is like a seed?
Plant it.
Water it.
Be patient.
Watch it grow.
Do you believe it is like a weed, a wild thing?
Growing uncontrollably.
Choking.
Taking life energies from everything in its path.
Do you believe it is more like a wild flower?
Blooming in the spring.
Waiting for a defrost.
Its rebirth coming from the warming sun.
The beauty fleeting.
Sleeping in the end.
Instinctively we all should know.
Has my heart really turned from gold to cold?
Has my mind taken over much control?
Being jaded cannot fade away.
It lingers making me turn away, run away.
Ghosts of loves gone bad hang over me.
A cobra ready to strike up injecting deadly poisons into my veins.
Candles flickering flame casting shadows that will forever remain.
Breath held tight, not much room left for what should be loves energy light.
The Candles flickering flame has been blown out.
Time passes.
Flickers bloom.
Sparks try to ignite.
Taking chances seem way to far out of reach.
Can the soul's candle's wick be relighted or is it now just too late.
She came home one afternoon,
All I saw was a face saturatede in gloom,
She sat me down, eyes filled with tears,
She told me something I had feared for years,
"Sister, I’m pregnant and I don’t know what to do,"
"I am also worried that the dad has been untrue,"
"He lies and cheats and once or twice I was beat."
At this point, I arose to my feet,
She told me she felt he wanted to trap her,
That her mind was in such a blur,
I was not even twenty one,
I felt like my heart had been shot with a gun!
My little sister was barely seventeen,
This was not part of her present dream.
I thought about how we grew up with no dad,
I went from feeling sad to just simply mad,
Wanting so bad to save the day, which I had so often did,
How could I save her this time? She was having a kid!
Mom was the next to know,
A woman strong in her convictions, said "we can’t let this child go!"
9 months later the little girl was born,
We named her Destiny, for God knows my sister was torn.
Three of us girls rose to the plate,
To allow this little angel to become something great,
There have been many struggles, but the joy that she brings,
Has healed our family and makes all who know us sing,
Even out of dysfunction and a mistake,
Bringing her into the world, taught us all what it takes,
To be a stable force in a child’s life,
What Selfless love is without any strife.
Life has its twists and turns,
In ever obstacle there is much to be learned,
When there is love and support that abounds,
Hardship can actually ware a crown,
It is not easy to raise a child in this world today,
So many dads pick up and run away,
But, when you have a strong foundation,
Even in teenage pregnancy, you can find inspiration.
If more children were taught the morals from the past,
Wait untill your married and the guy may actually last,
I believe the rise of this issue would not be so high,
So many teens are looking for love from some guy,
This is becoming such normality,
Teens being mothers is a harsh reality.
There needs to be more support for young teens,
Instead of TV shows that promote it in scenes,
Education and self-esteem,
Will help them to follow their original dreams,
Children raising children breeds’ future despair,
Talk to your teens; let them know that you care.

I sure found out from years that have past by
That for all this time
Loving you seems like some kind of crime
You won't answer or call
I sit here and for you continue to fall
However through it all
I've become stronger than you realize
No need to protect me or shield my eyes
I can't change who or what I am
I won't keep standing there with my head in the sand
I've changed before
And on that I've shut the door
I know now I have to be me
And I have to be free
Live happy
You can't hide your true feeling again
Let them out, let me in
I'm down on my knees
Ready to do what it is you please
By you temptation is where I'm ready to be lead
Even though many times going down that road my heart has bled
I need you to show me the right side of wrong
In this moment is where we belong
With the leather and the lace
Flying high all over the place
Seeing that look upon your face
When all is said and done the moment gone away
Will you do as I and think of me then everyday
Will our wild hearts be tamed
And will we be able to still look at each other the same
Yes I am stronger than you know
Even if I still can't quite let you go
Facing and telling it all this I believe stronger is exactly what I've shown
My fears I now own
Not the other way around
Quiet now not a sound
Except for our hearts beating ever so loud
To you I can't help but be bound
How about you can you release some of your fears
After all these years
Or will you keep them inside
Run away again from your true feelings and continue to hide
I am here putting on the line my heart
Knowing it might get torn apart
Talking to me well that's a start
And when we once again meet
Remember this--
I miss you with each heartbeat
"no longer mute"
I will turn back the pages of my life
to a dark time
a time when I had no voice
I was trapped by abuse
I lived in fear each day
when I met him he was extraordinary
so courteous, kind
handsome
then, I moved in with him
and suddenly, I became a slave
he was cruel with his words
hateful and insulting
if I spoke up I was threatened
he convinced me I was stupid
ugly and nobody loved me
or wanted me
I looked down
and seldom spoke
I had to do what he wanted
or else
I was
trapped
and I feared for my life
realizing that he had pushed away
every friend I had
and I was ashamed to go home
to mom and dad
until
one night I had to get out for a bit
so I told him we needed milk
I walked down the street with no destination
a car pulled up
do you want a ride
not sure why
but I got in his car
you look sad he said
not sure why but I told him my story
crying
we drove around for a bit
till he pulled up exactly where he found me
this is what you will do
when he leaves for work tomorrow
call in sick to work
gather a few things
and leave and never return
go home to your parents
that is what I did the next morning
now, when I think of this man
I think he was an angel sent to help me
it was raining that day I left
without looking back
and I walked for miles and miles
feeling the freedom
went for a cafe, and had another
called my parents
dad came to pick me up
I felt battered and broken
I slept for days
my parents took care of me
even took me to buy new clothes
supported me back to myself
no longer mute
no longer abused
I realize that I was lucky
that I had parents and a home
but, I urge any woman
trapped in a similar relationship
to just walk or run away
before it is too late
get help
God is watching you. He is watching me
Whether you are a believer or godless
He is ringing the dinner bell, come home
Heaven's table is crowded with the dead
Stay away a little longer to make room
Don’t do anything to shorten your life
Don’t be in the wrong place at the wrong time
He doesn't seem to care if you run away
Your grave will be your seat at the table
Watch me head to the liquor store instead
How can a Father not see, I need rescue?
I guess that’s what 5150 is for when lost
A shot of Zyprexa to take away loneliness
Is He tempted to reach out to innocents?
He's all powerful, but sent out his broken Son
Leaving me with a devil who watches over me
Making me wonder if its eyes are mine
Shut off my brain calling me home
Perhaps that’s why I reach for the bottle
A pacifier for grown-ups without a guardian
Accept us however we crawl, do more than look
This day has already gone to hell, intervene
I’ll wake up tomorrow fresh as a wilted daisy
Will He look for me when I'm wasted?
Perhaps He'll applaud silently from His last supper
How well I walk to the gallows, weighted down
Tear off my nametag. His touchless gaze maddens
Everyone comes home when their sentence is up
I look up at the cruel sun, but don’t see Him
I just hear the damn triangle banging faith
I begin to see like He does, the utility in a vapor
Why does He make faith so impossible?
I guess I’ll watch my water fall and rise
Like His favorite Son's blood on the cross
Feeling abandoned by his gaze
I walk from work a smile upon my face
a busy shift, 'Emergency' the place.
Where sick and injured come in through the door
and we are always ready to care for.
Alarms are sounding, monitors beep, beep,
all beds are full, and to their needs we leap.
Check vital signs, the temp, pulse, and BP
take blood, a urine test, an ECG.
Put in an I.V. Cannula I will
if veins are difficult, it takes some skill.
Next, take them to Xray to have a scan
or, if their bladder's full offer a pan.
For pain, give medication, reassess?
but if they vomit, I'll clean up their mess.
For patient comfort always tops the list,
and to ensure this happens I'll assist.
When cold, a nice warm blanket brings a smile
sometimes I'll hold their hand a little while.
With reassuring voice allay their fears,
if they're upset then wipe away their tears.
Write up my notes including all I've done,
hand over to the next nurse one by one.
The hours seem to quickly run away
and soon my shift is finished for the day.
I'll say goodbye to patients in my care
be glad, that on this day I have been there.
I walk from work a smile upon my face
A busy shift, Emergency the place.
We are snarly, and we’re gnarly,
We’re twisted, and we’re mean.
We smack you with our branches,
And we keep our real selves unseen.
We’re awful, and we’re terrible,
You had better keep your children away.
Because we’ll hold them, and we’ll fold them,
And we’ll never let them run away.
We are the meanest and the baddest,
And the most unhappy ones around.
And the sickest and the saddest,
You will wish your children never found.
Except on Christmas week, when we turn all nice and sweet.
Except when we come to your house, and with you we fast compete.
We are the pretenders, the liars, the thieves, the psychopaths galore.
Where are you going? I am not lying. She really cannot come to the door.
He wondered today if he could stay,
he’d put me through so much.
I almost died, I know I cried,
I couldn’t make it alone.
What are shoulders for if not
to house the burdens of one’s life?
Am I not the one you want
to treasure as your wife?
I understand the petty stuff,
the nit-picky and tiny stuff, all
might not be important to you,
you’re happy things are working
out that the kids haven’t run away.
But what about the stress and strain,
the inner peace, the pouring rain?
What about our future home, or
will I be here all alone? As I sat
and wondered why, and as I sat
and quietly cried, I realized
what my life would be without
the security, serenity and sense
of self you’ve given me and
I wonder if I’d done the same
for you, or did I cause you to
wonder if you could stay?
There comes a time when death greets life,
Embrace this rhyme to forfeit strife,
Death swings new chimes to fling new jive.
So many years have brought new cares,
The dead my dear live a new flair,
Attend woes here in sad affairs.
My father's gone away to rest,
My mother yawned to face death's zest,
Another morn to live our best.
July sparks notes of fond embrace,
November totes a rainy face,
March has a vote to hurl hot trace.
In between times of abrupt change,
The awkward rhymes can sound so strange,
Sad dirge seek mime in vocal range.
July speaks well for I find spring,
June once did spell a sad ending,
November tells a stormy fling.
Alas! What's lost cannot be found,
Time wears a cost in moving grounds,
To win the toss, swirl round and round.
Move with the times that run away,
Spill cheery rhymes before sad sway,
Soon fading chimes must stop to slay.
The moments here upon stray winds,
Live precious spheres, notes in-between,
Then leave sans fear the course unseen.
Conceive your wits in tints and shades,
Believe each bit what feelings trade,
Achieve fond fit that zest now grades.
Charm wears a poise that speaks so light,
Cheer knows a voice as esteem sights,
Play makes a choice in sensuous flight.
Be unafraid, wear euphoria,
See beyond dread, pandemonia,
Let joy now braid sure hysteria.
No matter how the world instructs,
Calm truth endows what change constructs,
Right here and now, all things destruct.
Go on your way to live your best,
Give all to play in steadfast quest,
And then someday, death holds the rest.
Look for your joy that hides quite sad,
Be kind with ploys that some deem mad,
Play with fond toys that make you glad.
Yes do your best to question each,
For fate binds quest to stretch your reach,
For time must test to offer peach.

See the worldly wise attract
A cult status of tact
There is a vain voice lurking
Dazzle of windy stroking
So much to say with little
Funny, boring and brittle
Great minds with sizzle sparkle
Not much to purge our troubles
Today is not yesterday
Past glory cannot fit play
Come let us purge such lame tales
Look deeper as plots unveil
See the solution truly
In the problem most clearly
To run away can be fun
Warm sun can warm unused pun
To think alike in brisk flirt
Until death remodels dirt
Soar through the sensuous seasons
Purge all vainglorious reasons
See the wisely worldly talk
Lucky steps in tiny walk
