no more abuse
"no longer mute" I will turn back the pages of my life to a dark time a time when I had no voice I was trapped by abuse I lived in fear each day when I met him he was extraordinary so courteous, kind handsome then, I moved in with him and suddenly, I became a slave he was cruel with his words hateful and insulting if I spoke up I was threatened he convinced me I was stupid ugly and nobody loved me or wanted me I looked down and seldom spoke I had to do what he wanted or else I was trapped and I feared for my life realizing that he had pushed away every friend I had and I was ashamed to go home to mom and dad until one night I had to get out for a bit so I told him we needed milk I walked down the street with no destination a car pulled up do you want a ride not sure why but I got in his car you look sad he said not sure why but I told him my story crying we drove around for a bit till he pulled up exactly where he found me this is what you will do when he leaves for work tomorrow call in sick to work gather a few things and leave and never return go home to your parents that is what I did the next morning now, when I think of this man I think he was an angel sent to help me it was raining that day I left without looking back and I walked for miles and miles feeling the freedom went for a cafe, and had another called my parents dad came to pick me up I felt battered and broken I slept for days my parents took care of me even took me to buy new clothes supported me back to myself no longer mute no longer abused I realize that I was lucky that I had parents and a home but, I urge any woman trapped in a similar relationship to just walk or run away before it is too late get help
