Magical clouds float above me,
brght silver, light edges to see.
Slowly drifting dream-like to be,
pulling strings to fly, oh, so free!
There's a twinkle from the sunlight,
miles of open sky in sight.
Smiles lift with a magic churning,
slow motion, calming, hearts yearning.
Touched by the magical cloud's place,
tension leaves, released by the face.
Tension is now a step behind,
stunning soft clouds with peace to find.
Float with magic clouds a moment,
in value of a minute spent.
Be captured by this creation,
watch the angst turn to elation!

I once was walking, enjoying the view,
When I came across a weeping shrew.
“Little shrew, what’s wrong?” I stopped and asked.
He raised his weary eyes at last.
“I’m sick and tired of the fox and his games,
Of always being the one he blames.
I work so hard, I strive and strive,
Yet nothing seems to change my life.”
“Then why keep going? Just quit,” I sighed.
“Take no more—walk away with pride.”
“I have my young, their mouths to feed,
And every day brings something they need.
“The fox gives us food for the work that we do,
But keeps making trouble out of the blue.
I cannot leave, though I long to be free;
Too many at home depend upon me.”
“Don’t worry, little shrew,” I calmly replied,
“One day, you’ll leave all this behind.
No tyrant rules forever, you know;
Even the mightiest someday must go.
“The wrong he has done, the pain he gave,
Will follow him down to his lonely grave.
And when his shadow no longer remains,
You’ll walk as a free soul, released from your chains.”
The shrew wiped his tears and went on his way.
I watched till his small shape faded to gray.
We parted beneath the fading sun—
And I never saw him again, not once.
When he fell, he kept going down down down down down
Unlike Jack in the nursery rhyme, Tim did not break his crown.
The light was not great here, this is what he soon found.
It was difficult getting his balance, there were big stones around.
Where am I? He asked himself quietly, inside his head.
He was where most never want to be, for it’s a good place to be dead.
How will I get out? He wondered, the darkness gave him a fright.
He had bumped his head pretty badly, and could not find a light.
Something brushed against his arm, and he wanted to scream.
A serpent, a spider, a cobweb? This fall was a horrible non-dream.
It happened again, and he nearly lost his mind, and his footing.
He figured by the time he got out of this, he would be fighting sooting.
Not to worry young one, a voice whispered into his right ear.
You are not alone, for your great-great-great Uncle Chuck is right here.
Tim did not know he had an Uncle Chuck until he was released upon rescue.
I know of him, his father told him, we lost him from TB in nineteen fifty-two.
SADIE
For me, this is so hard to say
One of my daughter's dogs passed away
I never had a pet or dog of any kind in my life
This time we had five dogs living with us
And they are all a special delight
Sadie had her own kind of personality
And she had this one special specialty
Whenever her brothers or sister walked near
They all made sure they stayed clear
Sadie always loved the food that we ate
Sometimes my daughter tells me she is gaining
To much weight
I think one of her favorite food was the doughnuts
I guess she considers this her bonus
She always wanted to be the first in line
And make sure none of the doughnuts were left behind
If I walked from the kitchen to the living room
Sadie would have to see if I had any food to consume
When she started her way to heaven in front of me
I didn't know I had so many tears in me
And I knew anytime Sadie was going to be pain-free
When I said my last goodbyes
I cried and cried
It had to be one of my toughest goodbyes
Saying goodbye with her eyes wide open
It will be in my life of one of the toughest times
Sadie, you gave me that special love
That no other dogs could give
I know God is calling
You will leap with open arms in heaven
And finally, your pain and suffering will be released
Sadie love you always Grandpa

Pain comes in its many forms
some short-lived others to penetrate
but that pain externally so unfelt
it's so deep within, an unknown date
When asked where is it found?
one can't say so it's just a hurt
you want released from this throb
wish it was a mark like a piece of dirt
One opens its mouth nothing appears
the dryness of one's tongue zero come
so hard to bear what can you do?
just this pain unknown not even a crumb!
This painless pain keeps repeating itself
with no escape route at all in view
you try to avoid every time asked to speak
but words look far gone whatever you chew
But tomorrow is a brand new day
live in hope that something will change
been saying this for all my earthly days
now to speak clear really that be strange!
(My inner pain of no words to utter when you want to utter them.)
It began with her misplacing things…and progressed to not knowing who I was…
She would wander away from home…for that is what Alzheimers does.
Yet other times she knew me well, she knew where she was…and when…
She was intelligent and lucid…she was my Mom again.
I never knew when Alzheimers had control…or when Mom would be released…
for that’s the personality of this disease…that is the nature of this beast.
There were times when Mom could sense my worry…and tried to ease my fear
She’d smile…a reassuring smile…and say, “Don’t worry, dear…I’m here.
But Alzheimers is unrelenting…at first making small demands
willing to let Mom have her moments…while patiently waiting to take command.
I remember the first time she didn’t recognize me…I bowed my head to hide my tears
when all of a sudden she was holding my face…”Don’t worry.” she said…”I’m here.”
We had no choice but to acquiesce to her malady…
to take her high days with her lows
It was only after my visits were over…that I let my anger flow.
And when she was lost to me forever…when in her confusion I’d see her tears
I would take her face into my hands and whisper in her ear…
Don’t worry, Mom…I’d say…there’s nothing for you to fear…
Wherever you’ve gone to…Don’t worry,
Don’t worry Mom…
I’m here.
It's that time of year.
Pictures are posted,
Congratulations shared,
Songs of joy expressed,
And pride shining bright.
Everyone cheers; the kids have passed.
Reports are posted;
This is it, what the year's been building upto.
They're promoted a grade
And happiness cannot be contained.
Of course it shouldn't - they deserve it.
As I look at it all, I am both happy and sad,
I fear this time will never be the same.
You'd be a bundle of nerves
Waiting to unravel -
In the waking hours,
You'd stir me before my time,
Words pounding off the top of your lungs
As you express all your worries,
Concerns and what-ifs.
A bundle of nerves,
Falling apart at the seams
With only one thing to cure it - the results.
Report in hand,
Already messaged before school's released
After one thing only: permission to open.
Shaking with giddy uncertainty
When there's no doubt in our minds you've passed.
You'd say, "No way," to a question posed
But the results are louder than you ever are:
Top 10 again, without batting an eye.
On my status it goes,
With an ever beaming pride
Equivalent of a mother's.
Not that it ever mattered, top 10 that is.
You've passed another year,
You've made us proud again
It's what you've been waiting for,
It's all you've been working for...
This is it.
You've made it.
Matric '25 is yours
Even if you're not physically in it.
One day I wanted to get my girlfriend a gift.
It was terrible because I decided to shoplift.
I tried to steal something that I should've bought.
Like many other shoplifters, I was caught.
I offered to pay for the perfume that I tried to steal.
But they decided to prosecute me and I felt ill.
It was scary when they locked me in a cell.
After I was released, things didn't go well.
It was stupid to think that I'd get off scotfree.
When I saw my girlfriend, she dumped me.
When I think about what happened, I get a chill.
Please listen to me when I tell you not to steal.
(THIS IS A FICTIONAL POEM BUT SADLY MANY PEOPLE DO SHOPLIFT.)
Fall flourishes with flighty flair,
a silent song upon the air.
Melody of fading ember,
all in spirit, rhythm, and timbre.
In Her heart, a tenuous tune
flirting with a bold maroon moon.
She has not sung this song before,
an unearthly, uplifting score.
Morendo a niente, fades out,
catching Her breath in subtle shout.
Crescendo of color escapes
in multidimensional shapes.
Catching currents Her breath has blown,
paves the path with scattered seeds sown.
Her name is carved on every tree
She has conceived her legacy.
Dulcet, the voice of Autumn sways,
Presto agitato, She plays,
Leaves flutter in a rustling dance,
taking part in russet romance.
What sweet music tingles the trees!
Baring bold birches, blows the breeze,
Arias aired in harmony
with woods akin bleeding honey.
Enjoy Fall's vibrant banjo beats,
as she raps with hued leafy sheets,
whispering soft kisses and dreams,
Refrains released in umber streams.
Foliage tanned and tinted brown
tango with harvest's golden gown,
Autumnal chorus slow tingles,
Join in with Her joyful jingles.
You stowed our love to use at your convenience.
Pulled me out when the weather grew cold .
You wore me as was needed and I was your medication.
I blanketed you with my love and was taken as prescribed.
But you thawed of my heat and you grew cool in spring.
And the days grew quite warm ,you folded me into the bundles you loved.
I wasn't useless so I stayed in your presence and the March roared.
Felt like a hero when it rained with snow mixed in and I mattered.
The sheets were new and the weather grew warm but I was faithful.
And I was washed and folded neatly and placed in the attic unloved.
But I worried naught because Some R always ending back to the beginning.
And after the first chill You released me.
