Flying Saucers

A plate smashes against the kitchen wall
In the middle of another Sunday lunch war
For a moment I feel as if I'm not really there
As I stop and stare at this world I live in
But do not comprehend

Across from me
John
Been drinking again
Since he woke
Fueling his senseless hatred
Driving his rage
He's shouting at my mother
Telling her she's an ugly useless witch
His mouth moves slowly
As I watch every cruel word come alive
Perfectly formed
To exhort in so few words
The maximum hurt

His hair combed over
Attempting to hide his baldness
Dry and graying
Betraying his denial of age
His fat belly hanging through his cardigan
As I rush to eat before the arguments start
The stains on his fingers tell of at least 30 a day
Together with the evidence collected
On the kitchens ceilings, cupboards and walls

Behind me the door to the garden
Behind him escape to the hall
I know how long it takes to reach them both
I know how long it takes for him to get up
Expert in the pitch in his voice
Where he starts using his fist
Professor in when to fight and when to play dead

As I look on I hardly taste the food
I rush before the time
When more plates begin to fly

Today it is my sister
I did not know but today she would leave
Finally had enough she threw her plate
And stood screaming at him
Of all the horrible things he is

She threw her plate
Peas and gravy
Run from his hairy chest to fat belly
You'd almost want to laugh
If you knew the joke would last
But he did not see the comedy
For a moment the whole kitchen seemed to be in the air
My plate and food had become another tool
This raging Sunday afternoon

Through the house anger raged
Battles scarring every room
Today I was but a witness
As his focus turned to my sister
And what she had dared to do
With words only falling silent
When replaced with the thud
As he punched my sister in the stomach
And a child years a way
Joined his list of casualties

As he returned to his bottle
To lose what he had just done
We took my sister away
But in those senseless times
My mother and I returned

And when my own time came to leave
When his fist met my face
His dog bit at my legs
I guess I always knew
I would never forget
Flying saucers and plates
And my sisters wonderful aim

Premium Member Thru Maritime Miles 2-Reflection

In spite of the way I was doomed in the past
I might have resumed all my duties at last
The ship captain's daughter who killed for a lark
Was tossed overboard in the path of a shark

The captain himself made a pitch in the punch
For helping the witch who was having my lunch
The bulk of the pirates were sure I was dead
The captain was second-in-line to be fed

I learned of his fate from an old pirate mate
A scurvy old sailor who thought I was great
A stable companion when we were at sea
Who seemed rather stunned by the image of me

He thought I returned as a spirit or ghost
Or maybe the wrath of a watery host
The image of someone who died for the harm
Of hurting the lady who fell for his charm

He cried like a baby to learn I was real
And not merely someone who died as a meal
The friend that he knew by the fact I was kind
A gentleman pirate with nothing in mind

The captain was dead, so he offered himself
To serve in his stead from the top of the shelf
The pirates were pleased so they voted him in
To serve by the curve of his broad, toothy grin

I asked my old friend if the couple they tried
Were found to be fit or just fit to be tied
He told me the captain was mad as a hatter
And even his daughter was no laughing matter

The lady was grinning when you made a splash
She said that you died when they took out the trash
We stared at each other and said this can't be
That pirates and shipmates should die stupidly

The captain was drunk when he made his mistake
But when you are sunk there is no second take
He plead for his life and he plead for his daughter
We fed them on board and we fed them in water

When learning of late that my captain was dead
I turned from my mate and I lowered my head
The man was reduced by the last of his brood
But no one alive should be treated as food

I knew that my life as a pirate was done
When I was a fool in the course of my fun
The future of pirates on land may be dim
But even a pirate should know how to swim

So many brave pirates who plunder in wigs
Are trading the sea for a cow and some pigs
My life as a pirate is what I love best
But even a pirate must bury his chest...

Muddy Water's Gramma gave us licorice

I walked the old Kenwood neighborhood with my twin little brother and sister in tow,
'hold there hands and look both ways before you cross the street'
No use trying to talk my way out, knew it was the only way mom would let me go.

October's new moon, peaked in and out of passing clouds,
leaving the night gloomy in stygian darkness.
Faces painted, carrying our paper bags, dressed in raggedy linen pillow case shrouds.

Low sad sound of a guitar's slow lick, pitch in open E, played a few doors down,
accompanied by a soulful song sung:

'Well, my mother told my father,
just before hmmm, I was born,
"I got a boy child's comin,
He's gonna be, he's gonna be a rollin stone,
Sure 'nough, he's a rollin stone..'

I knocked on the door, our shrilled chorus trio called out Trick or Treater's round,
Clutching a Bible in her hands 'to ward off evil spirits'.
Gramma Della turned on the porch-light, framed in screened doorway,
emitting a joyous whooping sort of laugh, invited the three of us in.

The bright-eyed man sat at the kitchen table, looking up from his guitar emblazoned in Formica reflected glory.
In the corner, a pretty girl, dressed as Cinderella, sat cross-legged on the floor..
with what looked like a million dollars worth of candy.

Muddy, who had ceased his song at our knock, nodded our way.
With curious smile that was both happy and sad, in smooth, measured voice said
'Oh don't you look a fright'.

Della handed out licorice that year, the same as all the years we once knew.
But what us kids remember best, and last, the man who sung & played the Catfish Blues.

What I didn't learn 'til later, a picture placed in Muddy's view of the living room.
Little Walter, with his harmonica cupped in hands,
who died just a year earlier, a day after Valentine's moon.

Inspired by McKinley Morganfield and his Grandmother Della Jones

You get a heck of a sound from the church. Can't you hear it in my voice? -Muddy Waters

April 19 Relationship to God Bible Meditations Based on 2Chronicles 1-4

Key Verse –2Chronicles 1:1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY STRENGTH MAGNIFIER

Lord God, You are my strength Magnifier midst my obvious weakness
Thank You for governing over feebleness
Along my doubting mind of unbelief’s destructiveness
For me to be prepared to pitch in Your holiness.

Lord God, You are my strength Magnifier midst my lack of knowledge
Thank You for guiding my stubborn heart toward Your divine privilege
Along my unyielding stubbornness of miserable price I acknowledge
For me to be fetched out from carnality’s mileage.

Lord God, You are my strength Magnifier midst my waning determination
Thank You for grabbing my burdened devotion
Along my wavering dedication due to dissatisfaction
For me to be built up by Your compassion’s fortification.

Lord God, You are my strength Magnifier midst my limited understanding
Thank You for guarding my searching mind from deceitful pretending
Along my shaky decision-making needing sturdy standing
For me to be set upon Your truth, wisely commanding.

Lord God, You are my strength Magnifier midst my shallow commitment
Thank You for gearing my little faith toward service-empowerment
Along my complaining attitude to learn genuine contentment
For me to be reared well by Your stewardship’s enablement.

Lord God, You are my strength Magnifier midst my towering pride
Thank You for grafting my heightening arrogance in every stride
Along my hindering selfishness I try to hide
For me to be cleansed, and in Your sanctification, abide.

Lord God, You are my strength Magnifier midst my unrighteous habit
Thank You for granting my confessed sins Your pardon, gracious in every bit
Along my admitted guilt, freeing me from disturbance-pit
For me to be perfected by Your transformation of Scriptures’ writ.

Premium Member FAITH IN GOD WHO IS LONGSUFFERING

February 17 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on Numbers 14-15

Key Verse – Numbers 14:18 The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

FAITH IN GOD WHO IS LONGSUFFERING

God Who is longsuffering, guides us with His hand
Toward abiding in His will along His holiness-demand
From false gods’ destructive wicked band…
Now, we pitch in His promised land by faith’s righteous stand.

God Who is longsuffering, directs us with His commandment
Toward climbing to His mount of service-commitment
From vain allurement and pride’s settlement…
Now, we dwell in His contentment by faith’s fulfillment.

God Who is longsuffering, journeys with us along His truth’s light
Toward claiming His promises along His delight
From doubts’ confusion because of sins’ blight…
Now, we ascend to His certainty by faith’s prayer-plight.

God Who is longsuffering, propels us with His wisdom
Toward reaching His standards along His granted freedom
From deceit that attacks carnality’s boredom…
Now, we stay in His plan by faith’s commitment to advance His kingdom.

God Who is longsuffering, walks with us in His leadership
Toward following His instructions along His partnership
From selfishness defying joyful fellowship…
Now, we remain in His grace by faith’s fervency for discipleship.

God Who is longsuffering, delivers us against fear with His bravery
Toward clinging to His courage for steward’s victory
From cowardice so destructive in its misery…
Now, we cleave to His power by faith’s strength for His glory.

God Who is longsuffering, drives us with His wellness-best
Toward enjoying His blessings through heavenly zeal and zest
From proud achievements in overcoming trial or test…
Now, we seek His favour by faith’s vision against boastfulness-pest.

Prom Night

If you and your friends pitch in together, you can arrive in a limo at the entrance of your senior prom.
Makes an entrance a little bit more formal.
Prom is a dance where you dress in a formal dress
When you wear a lovely corsage on your dress or wrist
A small bouquet of flowers which is the proper decor
On a formal dress or wrist, you wear to your prom
An unforgettable cherishable memory
only happens when your seventeen
The last dance of your high school life.
A night worth creating long lasting memories
Sharing every moment along with your friends
A night where you dance along your classmates.
Dancing along to every musical beat
When the music suddenly stops
You'll hear the announcement who received the highest vote
Those who win the majority vote
Get elected as Prom Queen and King
They'll share a slow dance along with their classmate.
They rest of the runner-ups get chosen as prom princesses and prince's
They each dance to a slow song along with the king and queen
Take photos, snapshots, and selfies
So you don't forget your Prom night
Prom isn't only about dancing. It's also about gathering with teachers
Teachers you surely won't ever forget.
Spend time wisely with all your teachers and friends.
A few stay in your life as for others it's a final goodbye
Don't take your high school life for granted, because prom is the last dance.
This particular event only occurs once in your life.
For others, if their lucky enough to go to college or university
With a friend or individually
Prom is known as a formal dance.
A dance which occurs after graduation
Where you can enjoy yourself with your classmates.
This gives you another opportunity to create more unforgettable memories
Memories worth creating for the second time.

Premium Member Christmas Cause

‘twas the night before Christmas at this North Carolina farm,
The chickens were cackling, so the roosters, they’d charm.
Never had I discerned how the stars could reflect such calm,
It almost seemed like God was writing His Christmas psalm.

As I lay down in my bed to rest my thoughts and take a nap,
I heard the roosters crowing because of the bright giftwrap.
Though I was certain that their mates would still lay an egg,
Memories of dinner haunted with thoughts of the last chicken leg.

Finally, I tumbled out of my bed and went to the kitchen,
I decided to leave Santa eggs so the hens could all pitch in.
Scrambled and boiled, they were a pretty sight on that dish,
And it wouldn’t be long before I was making a Christmas wish.

Hoping old Saint Nick would leave me some tractor fuel,
So I might work through dawn with that handy jewel.
I headed to my Christmas list, to write down oil and gas,
But was left with a heavy pen when I saw that empty milk glass.

Santa had already been to the farm, and left me some tools,
But these shovels and rakes were more fit for strong mules.
I couldn’t possibly make it another year without some petroleum,
Therefore, I made my way across the kitchen linoleum.

Chickens and roosters, cows and mules, all the farmer’s friends
Remember that Christmas when Santa left so many odds and ends.
There was no doubt, Christmas was bringing out the best in him,
Because as I fell into a deep sleep, I heard him singing a hymn.

Christmas psalms would last forever here on this farm,
We need not worry, there is always hope and no need for alarm
The God of love, came down from above, to remind Santa Clause…
Jesus is the reason for the season – Christmas’ true cause!

Soul Burn

Bleeding from the inside; I feel sickly
Seething with anger; I’ve got to move quickly
Fighting my inner soul; a battle out of control
Spirits who surround me; I am not myself at all
Feeling like a median; a conduit for the damned
I feel all their pain; I feel their demand

As they breach the surface of my body from within
I become something I am not; I start to help pitch in
Vulnerable at the mind; weak in the heart
These hellish demons are tearing me apart!
It doesn’t matter at all; I’m near dead inside
Numb to the pain; I’m just here for the ride

As I scan the room side to side; my guess is as good as yours
There’s nowhere left to hide; Just walls, ceilings, and floors
Empty spaces are in between; the environment here is cold and mean
Slipping in and out of reality; somebody please just end it for me
I am going nuts, in fact insane; I don’t even know if this is my actual brain
Even when it’s sunny, it feels like rain; my soul is on fire, my body always in pain

Here I am, I am yours for the taking; pluck me from my tree
Pick me because I’m fresh, and full of energy
Use me to fill your greedy satisfaction; you have no heart, just distraction
Place me in your control, walk me to the edge and let me jump down the hole
Misery is close, I can taste the mist of sorrow; I missed out for my life you borrow
Walking in place, the world moves for me; well what’s the point if there is no glory

People walk around, yet I see their puppet masters
We’re all driven by force, causing all sorts of disasters
We are all ticking time bombs, waiting to explode
The time flies fast, as we all corrode
Listening to your words, as they fade away
Today I am dead, tomorrow is another day
