Saving Time

There's no one here,
   just me and my dog
   and the ticking of the clock,
some say hey, it's an hour late
   daylight savings time pushes ahead,
but for me, it's okay, it's fine
  though right now, I'm an hour behind;
the day still comes and goes
  rising sun and fallen snow,
pale blue gray skies are on the fly
  time forever slowing, rushing by,
all the creatures on earth know
  life is steady in its flow,
morning dew on winter's chilled grass
 futures waiting on the lost past;
a word, a thought, a smile, a laugh
 everything is new but never lasts,
today completes our yesterdays
 and now is ever slipping fast away,
hold on tight, the epic ride begins
 blowing east, west, north, south on the winds,
until there's no one left to stay
 n the foolish games we constantly play,
the changing times never move us forward or back
 and all we're left with is a reality fact.

Dog eat dog world
Awakes to new dawn;
Paradoxical gains

Words and yet more
Empty words dilute;
Cold comfort frozen

Headlines sensation
Bad news in vogue;
Catchy decadence

Muse upon feeling
Profound thought;
Self-realization lights

Mood swings highlight
Psychic trauma;
Pain instigates

Skybridge running track
26 floors above;
Senior citizens jog

Look to this day
To do something good;
Saturday cat nap

Set routines
To-Do List unfurls;
Time is never enough

Much ado
About nothing new;
Changes re-order

Ideas rule the world
Change agents --
Come and go abruptly

Worn-out old pavilion
Two weary workers;
Chat over beer repast

Busy passage conduit
People hurry briskly;
Haphazard side stepping

Busy networking
Trying to get ahead;
Lost in the crowd

Visual impact dazzle
Too much colour;
Not much insight

Superbowl Won

This is the third in a trilogy of steeler poems and while it is good on its own.I really had fun with this one. All three need read for the full story to be told.

Oh they have won the Superbowl
It's what I said would be
The Seahawks wings were clipped
Now we can laugh, hee hee

I am so excited
I want to give a cry
The Steelers won the Superbowl
They did it on the fly

Now a wildcard was their fate
No chance to win at all
At least that's what the experts said
This trip came with a fall.

First off would be the Bengals
These cats would show their claws
They almost won the game
But we showed up their flaws

There quarterback would stumble
He'd have to leave the game
Without him they were lost
Without him they were lame

Next would be the colts
Which was the favorite team
They thundered with their hooves
Each game they played was lean

This did not faze these men
Who'd tame and brake these colts
No one would stop these guys
Will Ben through thunderbolts

Two games they played that day
As the refs played dirty pool
But they would not be stopped
Oh they would win this duel

It almost did not happen
As the bus would lose the ball
But Ben would make an awesome save
With that they'd win it all

Now Denver came up next
But they'd fall like all before
These broncos would be busted
Then wipped til they were sore

Now that's how they arrived
To play in the big game
They brought home number five
Now we're not quite the same

The Bus now has retired
To the hall of fame he's bound
Now Ward won MVP
He play this game quite sound

Big Ben was not his best
Still though he won the game
The youngest to do so
This year none will complain

With that I'll end this poem
It's been a great great ride
I hope to see it come again
So we can tan some hide.

Premium Member In halls of time threaded upon the spindle of lingering thought

In halls of time threaded upon the spindle of lingering thought,
Youth sheds at dawn like dew entwined on strawberries,
Weaving a veil of dreams and hopes, the storm is but a hushed song,
The greatest gift—a mystery shared on pages of life yet untrodden.
It is the whisper of the wind among ancient walnut trees, racing,
Word before the word, a promise made before being spoken,
A promise of time, preserved in a heavenly amphora,
A priceless present dissolving in hands, a crystal of counted fate.
Youth, a butterfly's flight in its first flutter,
Wings of light borrowed from the kiss of morning sun,
Treads yet shyly on untrodden paths,
With the unknown throbbing within, its sweet facade of the absolute.
A candle between two worlds, dusk and dawn in a single being,
The young heart sails through the veils of reality, a rope of scorching sand,
Life borrowed in rainbow chalices, sipping on the fly,
Each moment a gate to hanging gardens, green and blooming.
In the library of time, it stands proud, a book with pages yet unread,
Hiding in magic words the seeds of future undreamt stars,
The emptiness it brings is full of echoes and of coming shadows,
An orbit's music, an offering of beginning before the altar to be.
The gift of passing it assumes, in its violin song, in the mystery of the tossed night,
A horizon unfolded like a mantle on the shoulders of the spilling time,
Eternity received in installments, farce in the light of mornings barely painted,
Youth, a world-making in each of us, the chant of an existence unembittered.
Time imparts its traveling star aura, a gift from gift,
Each minute woven into the fabric of fate in the rich carpet of its destiny,
That holy fervor, scattering into tales, our ageless beginnings,
An advance from life, in its generous treasury, ever sprinkled with new charm.

D O     I T     S  L   O   W   E      R

Have you ever stopped and watched how kids laugh on a carousel?
Or for few minutes you listen to the pounds and thumps of rain?

Have you ever followed a butterfly fluttering by?
Or stare at the sun painting red and orange bright?

Daily you put the alarm-- so conscious of time.
You want everything to be done on second hand;
you run as if each day on the fly.

When someone asked you: "How are you?"
Did you ever care to reply, asking back the same?

Your wife and kids ask you for a time
yet, most of the time all you said is wait for awhile.

The night skirts it's dark starry skies,
instead of going home, you chose to work for more.
When you are done and it's time to sleep,
still... there are hundred chores running round your head.

One Sunday morning, your child wanted a talk--
but your phone rang, you wave a hand and say tomorrow.
You are so haste to leave,
you didn't see his brow break to sorrow...

You lost the touch
even a good friendship die right before your eyes
'Cause you never had time to call and say "Hi"!

When will you realize quality time is a must?

Don't you know
when you dance fast on life's music
you are missing much?
Time is short and so is life
All music comes to an end, it doesn't last

When you see life like a race
     you will miss half of the fun in each phase.

Worrying and hurrying through the day
is like disclosing some gifts along each way.

Life is never a race, do take it slower...

Song: TIME by PINK FLOYD

Time For You To Go

Once, this was the only dream
 the inseparable bond of you to me agleam,
 the love and passion forever entwined
 the babe in arms divine
but soon enough, came the burden and responsibility
 one babe became two then three
and after all this time, you see things differently
 deciding you have no need of me.

A younger lass catches your roving eye,
 listens to your ramblings hanging on the fly
 performs your every wish and desire
 flames your soul and body with hotter fires,
and these children of our mutual flesh and bone
 are mere pawns that threaten your new throne
and you argue and at last confess,
 she is your desire with who you are obsessed.

It's not me, it's you - you say
 and make your time in this game you play,
 have your fling and all it's fun
 you'll never see me on the run
Where did it all go wrong
 that love that we shared once so strong?
All those wasted hours as our love sour,
 how well I know, it's time for you to go.

What Can You Say

what do I have to do to win your heart?,
we share jokes and laughter on the fly.

I’ve tried so hard, yet we’re apart,
my hope is fading, as years go by.

As kids I pushed your swing at school,
but as I held your hand, you played it cool.

I watch you cry and come apart,
as you have felt the sting of life,

as you have now a wounded heart,
instead of being someone’s wife.

what can one say, where can I start,
to make you see the love I feel,

I’ve done all I could to play the part,
instead of standing, now I kneel.

as actors, we have never read the script,
the one that held the happy ending,

the story line was shattered, it was ripped,
that we were lovers, was but pretending.

and when I’m gone, when life is over,
when all my diary has been read,

you’ll know I was the man who loved you,
what can you say, when I’ll be dead.

In This World of So Many Unknowns

When we get it all wrong
Life just keeps moving along
No time for us to stand strong
We balance it all out like a delicate love song
Carefully sorting out what lies in our path
So we don't get tripped up in the aftermath

Handling this busy life on the fly
Unable to just let all things ride
As hard as we try
Some things we just have to accept
There is no bottom side
So much of life we need not ask ourselves why
To that many of us can testify

It's when we get it right
Like a spotlight magnifies a beam of light
That molds it all into flight
Making us feel like we are winning the fight
Even when we get it wrong
The quicker we are able to just move along
The less likely we are to become headstrong
In a world that can make you feel like you don't belong

Life keeps passing us by
So learn to ride its highs
Don't get hung up on its whoa's
In this world of so many unknowns
Take it all in nice and slow
This makes it possible for us to grow
So your life will continue to flow
Like a moving picture show

Flicker Fine

O boulder, with pitch resin shine!
Flicker fine at night!
Fate and Fortune, thus we dine!
Sign, O line of sight!

Ichor in immortal veins?
Crenellate to hold.
No use waiting for the rains!
Sane and centrefold!

Explain, O my spark-lit brain?
Bone of throne and bane!
Blossom inward! Core and chain!
Melee, meet the main!

Gone and unreturned? We learned.
Oh, what we discerned.
Night of nail and ne'er-do-churned!
How the bodies burned...

Yellow streaks in starry sky?
Panels on the fade.
Foxfire, foment on the fly!
Beckon as ye bade!

Climate of the covenant?
Back the boneyard bright?
Feet of clay, about me plant!
Cant cerebral, kite!

Mortal life, upon the knife?
Who to target, strife?
Circumstances, rhyme or rife?
O Rhine River, fife!
