Turmoil and Transformation, beyond imagination
My first love, North Star, became my guiding light
He swept me to the shore, I was alone no more
Truly a one man in armor shining knight
Bumping shoulders and holding hands
a furtive kiss but few demands we had an early first love
And though each went our separate ways
we thought of each other many days
And later when we met again, to have and hold as more than friends
we became molten, magnetic, the tide
Speaking to him is passion and pleasure was pure surrender
to thought, emotion and pouring rhyme
The only thing we two don't seem to have
is enough time to make love, and entwine that deep sharing into the night
But that is coming I know
As sure as the sky is above
We will make it all happen and make it right
Because this love you see, is pure poetry
it delights and excites us both alright
And the glow all around
Is here to stay for all time
I can't imagine being without his love or him without mine
We will build our love nest
and love each other unconditionally
never again lonely our lives provide
We will care for each other
in a long life together
and be there side by side as one
For he is my twin flame
my dance partner my other half
and our meeting was more than chance and far past fate
It was a click of two into one
and a glow as glorious as the sun
passion and pleasure welded, fused and won
Meeting was more than chance and far past fate - For Alan - Susan Manley (C) 9/30/2023
I am...
quintessential optimism;
the rainbow you see
after the rain is gone.
I am...
order amid the chaos;
l reconstruct
life's crumbled foundation.
I am...
beauty in ugliness;
don't avert your eyes!
I am...
a celestial messenger,
so prick up your ears.
I'm asking you
to choose faith over fear;
things aren't as bad as they seem.
I'm asking you
to walk out on darkness,
to me, the light.
I'm asking you
to believe in dreams;
they are real and true.
I'm asking you
to look to the sky
when you're lost;
I am your North star.
David Bowie sang
a song about me;
yes, you guessed it
I am...
Starman,
but, I'm also...
guess who?
The white doves as they left the rivers of joy and light
Wept as they saw night's darkness approaching their garden of gladness
Their hearts saw the upcoming battle with this alien fungus in sight
So they went to be the white stars to master and trap the darkness
After the stars broke into the abyss of mayhem
With the father of doves, the First Man, as their centremost north star
Those doves wept when the First Man left the dark, leaving them
For he had to rise out of the grave to defeat the abattoir
The white doves under the weight of the darkness of night
They wept when the Spirit buried them, to build a stone road to peace
To inspire the doves to lift their heads to the height
A pillar for them to soar over all and return to their home
When the pillar will become the Last Statue of might
They will weep for the grey doves of stone, cut off from that statue completing
Those dim stars who loved the darkness more than the white light
Who lied and blasphemed against the garden with their raspy tweeting
When they will return to the green garden of light
The tweeting of despair will turn to sweet psalms to enjoy
Weeping will turn to tranquil silence in the height
The white doves' rain of tears will turn into rivers of joy
I've never twitted on Tweeter
nor am I an Instagrammarian
I've searched on Goggle
but cannot find MyFace on the interweb
I ask "how do I find the North Star?"
and get 4,460,000,000 hits, mostly ads
for an ice cream bar called "The Big Dipper"
so I go make some toast and eat lunch
at least I can work a toaster
Kids think I was born in the Jurassic era
believing my first job was swabbing the deck
on a Byzantine sailing ship
for I speak of phones connected to the wall
and TV sets with 4 channels and cars that got 8 mpg
I don't know url's from www's, or http's from html's
my mobile phone always auttocronects my speeling
and cyber censors block my search for 'penal colonies'
I cannot find the mute button on Zoom
so my belch might make it into the meeting minutes
my internet takes regular coffee breaks
and the only tweeting is the birds outside my window
so I sit at my screen watching dots chase themselves in a circle
trying not to get toast crumbs
on my high tech keyboard

In the troubled times of the fifties,
when the family was adrift in unrest,
my mother strived to settle down secured,
making a home in a land unknown.
She gave a precious gift, a nest, I needed
for my rootless uncertain life,
from where I could spread my wings
in the seamless sky and had flown.
I soared high and far beyond the horizon,
under the caring cover of her weary wings,
my boundless ascending aspirations
the wild winds couldn’t blow away.
I live in the lasting shadow of her undying love,
suffuse my memory with gratitude,
for it’s her loving hands
that sculpted me what I have become.
She has left me to reside
in her new abode a long time ago.
When in the bejeweled sky of pining night
I see the north star glisten bright,
guiding me to my final destination,
I then find my heroine mother
shine as the faraway star,
in the realm of the stellar heaven.

On the outskirts of Liverpool
lie's a place called Kirkby
Where the residents were supposed
to be so poor
They were unashamedly referred to
and labeled as Sock Robber's
Due to the fact they were so poor
they would even steal socks off other
people's washing line's once put out
and left to dry
But better still whilst listening to them
discuss between themselves from
different area or parts of Kirkby
Which was worse and who was
poorest I overheard this 1 of them say
People in Southdene where you are
from don't actually realize what they
think or believe to be is the North Star
the brightest star in the sky at night
Is actually in fact the search light
eminent from the police helicopter
circling overhead permanently
What is love?
The North Star guiding
a lost seafarer home
or the Siren’s song luring
him to the rocky shores?
Is it frolicking in the moonlit
nights in a field of flowers
or trudging across
an arid, scorching desert?
Is it a freeway to bliss and joy
or a meandering trail
through a rugged terrain
of grief and woe?
Is it a cup of hemlock
or a chalice of nectar?
Is it a snake pit
or a bridge over the chasm
of hatred and bigotry?
Is it an ever-elusive mirage
or the rock of Gibraltar?
Love is all that and more
and yet it’s nothing,
A mere emotion, a feeling,
At first blush, irrelevant
and yet it’s an impetus, a catalyst--
An euphoria permeating our entire being.
It is here, it is there,
and it is everywhere...
Yet, it is nowhere!
It creates mayhem and chaos
if it turns and walks away.
Love knows no boundaries,
It follows no customs or creed;
It cares not for any
race or language.
Not unlike air and water
or the enlivening sunlight--
Vital in good measures
devastating in excess,
Vexing as a thorn but
as enticing as the fragrance.
Love is but love!
No one has seen it
Yet everyone is touched by it,
Its constant presence is overwhelming
Yet you’ll never find
if you go looking for it,
It traverses distant shores,
Yet it doggedly never
leaves your threshold.
You are born with it
but never can you own it,
Forever it hovers around you
but never can you rein it in.
“Love is a many-splendored thing”.
Yet none can explain its true meaning,
It would call through a bullhorn
and you may not hear it,
It merely whispers in your ears
and turns your life topsy-turvy,
More furious than the flowing lava
It would give you the chills if provoked.
He indeed is a poor soul
bereft of hopes and dreams
who befriendeth not love!

North star that shines on clear night.
Sat still, at peace, on moon's right.
How does the small moon prince thrive?
At night flies a bright, white kite.
In comes the wash of high tide.
Two pairs of feet side by side.
Where did they go? Who were they?
Far off, see! The groom and bride.
Sun glints bright on white topped wave.
Such blend of warmth marks the cave.
How birds dance on silk clouds high.
For soon come the fish they crave.

(did a collection, first attempt at this type of poem)
Angels live in heaven, so I heard them say,
in the pristine celestial beauty they glow
as the sparkling stars in the far away milky way,
but I know they often descend on earth.
If you ask me how do I know, I would say,
I have seen the radiance of my mother’s heart
as bright as the celestial shine of a star,
its patina of love nurtured me like flower, lest I wither.
In times of turmoil when the family was adrift,
she toiled hard to grow our roots in an alien pasture.
To my deprived uncertain life she gave a gift, a nest,
from where I spread my wings on the sky of future.
I flew high under the cover of her protective wings,
the wild winds couldn’t blow away the soaring aspirations.
In her shadow I live with her undying love, memory brings,
for it’s her hands that sculpted me what I am today.
She has left me for her new home a long time ago,
when in dismal night I see the north star glisten
to guide me to my final destination, I then know,
she is the star, shining now in heaven with the angels.

Mary when did your joy come most
For your child within not conceived of man
In your womb for nine months to be formed
The world was out to destroy this child
But God blinded there eyes and led you
To a place where this child to be born in a manger
Oh I have witnessed these labor pains
But the joy you must have felt when
You cradled Him in your arms
The north star shined brightly above Him
That we may always see He came from above
The three wise men were lead to you
Bringing gold, incense and myrth
Giving a true meaning so many miss
Gold is the knowledge and wisdom of God
The treasure of the mystery and truth
Incense was to give one there was a new sense
To awaken the five that we have not smelled
touch, seen ,taste are heard before.
The myrth to bring the anointing oil
That one was coming to prepare the dead
To allow one to see they are walking in death
But through this child was coming a new breath
They came from the east, west and south to give thanks to the newborn child from the north.
You witnessed your child teach this wisdom
And knowledge that He did not receive from man
He done many wonders and showed
The power of God in love to heal many
This must have left many wondering
Why this man from God do so many hate
For they relied on human wisdom and praise
Mary the pain you must have felt when
They lifted up this child on the cross
This goes to another level than labor pain
Everyone should have seen this was wrong
But God blinded there eyes to fulfill prophecy
He was then placed in this worlds tomb
For He would remain for three days
Mary did you have enough time to mourn
For on that third day when this Child
Came unto the world in a new body
Mary you must have been overflowing
With peace , joy, comfort and love.
For now your child from God
Is to be born unto all Children of God
Revealing we are dead man walking
He shall breathe life and spirit within
To place in good soil
That shall overcome the weeds
and thorns of life that try to hold one to this world
That God might reign within
To burn away the darkness
And place death under our feet
