A church clock struck midnight, from far far away,
Overhead, the pale moon was veiled, by dark clouds of grey.
Two young boys were watching, from their own makeshift den,
Aiming to prove to friends they weren't mice, but men.
As gravestones scraped noisily, upon sharp gravel paths,
The small boys gulped loudly, and subdued nervous laughs.
But when a corpse clambered out, of a wide open grave,
The two boys took fright, not feeling so brave.
With their eyes now wide open, and holding their breath,
They clung to each other, and were worried to death.
As the corpse turned around, and staggered their way,
They closed both of their eyes, and started to pray.
Soon as a ghoul crawled out, from behind the headstone,
They felt a little queasy, and started to groan.
Suddenly, two cold hands touched them, pinching their ears
They both screamed out loudly, then burst into tears.
But it was just their eldest brother a prankster called Rick,
Who,for a bit of devilment, played an old schoolboy trick.
They had been watching tv., camped on the hearth rug.
By the cosy fireside, in their own little snug.
That night in their beds, what tapped the window pane,
Was it the leaking gutter, now filling with rain.
Or whose are those shadows, that stealthily creep.
So underneath the bedsheets, they tried their hardest to sleep
8/ 14/ 2017. POET'S SHADOW GREG BARDON.
Silent stars, twinkle noisily
Silhouettes of thoughts
Singing in a soprano of hope
Softly, sweetly, sensitive
Melancholy moon, breathing
Mist rising on the mountains
Music of merry moments
Making a way, waking the day
Iridescent glow of stardust
Inspiring hearts and souls
Inklings of imaginations
Inside dreams of great loves
Luminous light of nightfall
Leading the way through darkness
Lingering on seas of promise
Loving, laughing, lasting
Endless euphoria on souls
Eager to carve out grace and hope
Entering the heart with kindness
Easy feelings of enlightenment

Rumi verse" Sing to me in the silence of your heart and I will rise up to hear your triumphant song"

Life is a symphonic cynosure
a charming composition
sung in tune noisily in tandem
merriment liberates us
spread the tunes of life
a ready-made ubiquitous syntax
moon voices Jukebox heart
Iron harps croon the days
I used to walk Elvis line in his heyday.
Twilight dream orchestrator
soars on silver wings
across the eerie sea
past raven-singing islets
race the clock
swap hourglass sand
reset to our first trip,
let's foster solid walls.
Life is a bittersweet symphony.
Love, laughter,
and silent dreams
In verses, rhythm begins
Steering us via life's curveballs
a calm ballad may be feasible
dreamlike memory
dusty paths to neon-lit roadways
catching dreams, sailing
weeping as a lone harp
I'm queueing until death
to travel as a country song
via onomatopoeia syntax
a metonymy, twangy melody.
paint hope on breeze
as moonlight amid trees
or pearly umbrella stars
dancing in cosmic black sea
dark orchestra conductor
revive ancient music
until ivory beams last.
Life is a melody to be sung
play it gently as a drumbeat
life serenade in riptide
years notes strum
cosmic tapestry links us to poetry
spirits dance in unison,
life is akin to writing a song,
with our key and tone
each life has a meaning,
we pick the theme and chorus
a song bearing our name
an inclusive rhythm
life's a tune.
November comes down gliding on filmy wings,
Bringing cool and dank days on her way
Sweet it is to watch the spectacular changes she brings
In a medley of colors, plants and trees proudly stay
Earth puts on a finery no other season can beat
In glinting flashes, the land and sky look so bright
The delectable pumpkin pie is the season’s favorite treat
As the day advances sunbeams fall in sparks of light
.
Early mornings come covered in snowy mist
Soon leaves nose dive and mournfully weep
The fallen leaves tremulously cry under our feet
As their last goodbye before they finally fall asleep
Evenings turn colorful with sinking sunlight, bleeding red
Squirrels chatter noisily as they gather nuts in the wild
As autumn tightens its grip, men retire early to bed
Wind blows all through the month with a temper mild
Soon the air turns chilly with blizzards coming in a row
And winter waits impatient for its icy-cold embrace.
The land will then be covered in a maze of snow.
Even the last flower shall fall and fade from earth’s face
The fallen dead leaves lying in piles and rotting away
And the sound of wind whistling the dirge of November
Bring to me the thought that we must all take leave one day
Down on earth, fall and rot, thus be fodder for new life ever!

A beautiful swan glided over a lake,
Graciously no sound did make.
Children throwing pieces of bread
To help keep the swans well-fed,
They enjoyed feeding these majestic birds.
Until
Quacking ducks swam noisily past,
With baby ducklings following last.
People strolling in the sun
Peace seemed to reign over everyone
It was a perfect day
Until
Suddenly all was still,
The lake surrounded a grassy hill.
From the far side of the hill, there came a sound.
A heavenly song that echoed around,
The lake.
Everybody was amazed,
When through a surreal misty haze,
They saw the body of a mute bird
Who sang the loveliest melody ever heard.
Floating
Along the lake, peacefully unaware
Of the marvel left there
When it took its last breath
Impressing onlookers to death
Singing the inimitable.
SWAN SONG!
Halloween Night
High above the dark and haunted land where
A pale moon casts scary shadows on the ground.
Lanterns lit to illuminate the darkness there.
Long branches scrape noisily on window panes,
Owls hoot, bats fly and black cats prowl around.
Witches buy shiny broomsticks, wands and cloaks,
Elves scamper and hide inside the ancient oak.
Ectoplasm drifting from cold, draughty nooks.
New spells tested on unsuspecting folk.
Night animals run across the forest floor,
Invisible spectres in empty rooms weep.
Ghosts playfully passing through closed oak doors,
Houses creak and along hallways ghouls creep.
Tonight as the Halloween moon shines bright.

"Fart Proudly!" Benjamin Franklin Once Wrote
A troublesome guest is best not to tote
For happy intestines
It was Ben's suggestion
A good fart is worthy of a good gloat!
Could it be that we're farting obsessed?
Each aspect of farting addressed
From loud and heady
To silent but deadly
All preferences being confessed
They say one should die for their art
But it's others who suffer the fart
I think that it's time
To pursue a new line
Stop the horse and empty the cart
A horse is a horse me thinks 'tis true
Of course it's the back end that stinks of poo
While wielding shovel and pail
I did not watch the tail
He let loose and blew and up I threw!
I am incredibility inner today,
like a folded rose, metaphorically speaking
I am totally dwelling within . . .
the world moving outside of me
lost within my own reverie
I have come to the art gallery
where I can lose myself
on the patio I am reading and writing
the warm sun is caressing me
the breeze stroking me
silence embraces my body
I am safe within my loneliness
the world is far away
until . . .
some people arrive, noisily
I leave this place and am
now, lost within the world of old masters
and I roam the corridors of the gallery
a girl alone . . .
and I dwell within like a folded rose

No more bare cupboards,
fridge, and deep freezer
since returning with more than
our share of daily bread
referring to this mister, who
frightfully squawks like an old geezer,
plus the missus
also ain't no spring chicken,
being locked within crosshairs
elderly stage, she doth dread
ample carload for us,
alleviating this bum searching
for crumbs to tweezer,
thus powdermilk raw bits of biscuits,
I need not scavenge, scrape, scrounge...
substantial commestibles
allows poet taster to breathe easy
inadequately satiates the missus,
(whose Godzilla appetite) defies
(cole) laws of nature to beef fed
predominantly healthy food,
that weighted our automobile like a led
zeppelin choking, intermittently
kickstarting, sputtering... along,
asper in (faux wheel) wheezer
putting utmost pressure
borne by taxing groovy tire tread.
Once mission (not so impossible,
but blessed relief) complete, I did aim
upon returning where we live
to acknowledge gratitude and claim
salvation for charitable deeds,
yours truly doth exclaim,
these volunteers, none I know by name,
nonetheless, a hearty poetic L'Chaim
afforded folks, who commandeer,
confidently coordinate quite efficient process
despite minor lament regarding
heavy toll stressing bulwark
quaking chassis, ripsnorting driveshaft,
shimmying entire automobile frame...,
hence no matter
our exhausted 2009 Hyundai Sonata
puttered along somewhat lame,
kudos to dedicated good samaritans,
worth their weight in gold to tame
hungrily growling, noisily rumbling tummies.
healthy choices allow, enabled,
and provided us to secure provender
eases glum countenance of this clown
gratuity finds me bowing down
paying metrical obeisance
versus depleting meager monies
engendering botox frown
nipping in bud
forestalling need going
grocery shopping
to the nearest town.
