Premium Member The Black Sheep

I am the black sheep, the odd one out,
With faults and flaws that leave no doubt,
I'm different from the rest, that much is true,
And often, I feel alone and blue.

I don't fit in with the crowd,
And my ideas are often frowned,
My voice is silenced, my opinions unheard,
I'm ignored, neglected, ostracized, and absurd.

But despite it all, I stand tall,
And I embrace my unique call,
For being the black sheep is not a curse,
It's a blessing, a gift, a privilege, and a verse.

I march to the beat of my own drum,
And my journey is never done,
I am bold, fierce, and daring,
And my spirit is forever flaring.

So let them call me what they may,
For I know I am not here to betray,
I am a masterpiece in my own right,
The black sheep, the star, the light.

oh, yes ...

yes, I have ...
I've had them ... those moments
the deep, desperate, rare moments ...
"straight-from-a-movie" moments
of romance and melancholy

where the violins and violas and
cellos pull on your heart ...
forlorn music reaching down into your viscera
to yank at your soul in tyranny ...
heart-wrenching moments of
exquisite agony -

where the core burns, the hairs all
stand, the eyes close, and you're lost
to the consequence ...
brief, beautiful, tender instances that
you hold for a lifetime -
that shine like jeweled beacons among
the mists of the mundane ...

oh, how blessed I've been ... and how cursed
for this gift of creativity that so
many envy, is but a facade for the dark, dire
truth of the sensitive spirit -
we feel deeper, look deeper, wish deeper, love
deeper, and hurt ... so much deeper ...

I am thankful for those moments, for
they are precious ...
but there is a dear and diabolical price to pay
and it comes without music
in the dead ...

of night.

Nobody Cares

FEELING ALONG IN THE WORLD
AS NOBODY CARES
AS THEY SAT IN THE ROOM ALL DAY
SLEEPLESS NIGHTS COMES
ANOTHER DAY HAS BEGUN
THE SAME ROUTINE
JUST FEELING ALONG
DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO
HURT, PAIN, SORROWFUL
OBSTACLES ARE POINTING AT YOU
AS IF THERE IS NO TOMORROW
WEEPING FEELING SAD AND DEPRESSED
TAKING A SECOND GUESS
ONLY NOT TO BE AT YOUR BEST
UNFORGIVENESS AT HEART
SITUATIONS TORN APART
LIFE IS PASSING BYE
CONTINUE TO CRY
MY, MY, MY.

ONE-DAY THE SUN SHINED
THE DARK CLOUDS WENT AWAY
NOW YOU CAN LIVE AGAIN
GET UP AND SING INSPIRATIONAL SONGS EVERYDAY
MY PRAYERS ARE FOR YOU
GOD LIVES ON
DON'T BE DISCOURAGED
BE ENCOURAGED
LAUGH, SMILE, DON'T BE HURT
TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME
GOD'S LOVE IS GENUINE.

FEEL SAD NO MORE
ENOUGH ALREADY.

MUCH LOVE.

No Way To Thank You

I no way to thank you for all the love and care
that you have shown to me

I come in sometimes broken like a heart
sometimes with not much to say

too much into my introspective world to
come up for air

possibly too quiet for my own good and yet other times
I probably can reflect the feelings that go on -

but enough about me
and more about you being the steady rock for what seems to many years

the voice of reason
the voice of support
the shoulder to lean on
and knowledge, laughter, and a guiding light to show me the way.

You have been the amazing wind that holds up these fragile wings
the one with the compassion and the kindness that would make
any child smile and feel loved.

Premium Member Love Sweet Love

Love, sweet love!

I am over the moon with love

Poetry has made me see

The beauty that life has in store for us

All we need do is open our hearts each morning

And greet the day with a big wide happy smile

The troubles of yesterday

Were yesterday's troubles

Today is a brand new day

Filled with exciting new things to see and do

Greeting friends and neighbours

Passing along good wishes to total strangers

Being kind to the cashier at the grocery store

Smiling for no reason

Except to share happiness with those

Whose life needs a bit of relief

From their daily trials and tribulations

It's surprising how just a kind word or two

Can brighten up someone's day

And make it just a little bit happier, a little bit brighter

Small things can mean oh so much

And they don't cost a single red penny

A happy attitude is free for the taking

But is worth a bundle in satisfaction

A bundle of the one thing we all crave

Love, sweet love!

Premium Member Guess I'll Be Me

Before, when I was afraid to be me,
I looked at others and tried to be a copy.
Mimic all their motions,
repeat the same moves...
Maybe then I can follow all their rules?
I tried to not be so different, so lame,
but being a replica just wasn't the same!
No matter how hard I would try,
all my hellos looked like goodbyes!
My left was a little too right,
my dark had too much light.
All my stands were full of sitters,
my all alones had visitors!
I learned following where others lead,
will never let your YOU be free!
So I'll be the ‘You’ who was made exactly.
I won't let others additions subtract me.
I'll allow my no mores to be agains,
I'll be just exactly who I am!

Premium Member God Watered For Me

One light clap
Then boom, boom
Wind, rain, storm

Willow threw her head back and laughed as the wind whipped her hair
Large raindrops then faster, smaller and plentiful
All the earth was singing praises, the song of the ages, all the earth sang praise

Delighted at the wind~ going out under the eves of the house
Breathing in the moist air, enjoying the zephyr blowing
I was singing praises, the song of the ages, I was singing praises

Two months since we had any rain to amount to much
All was dry, the plants and trees were hurting, the garden needed rain
Those irrigating hoses just don't bless the earth like rain

The clouds linger the moist air floats about
Birds of the air are quiet relishing each moment
Thanksgiving today for God watered for me

Premium Member Giant Crows Can Be Thugs

giant crows can be thugs, the six-year-old child told me.
they wear masks and can intimidate you out of an elm tree.
I had no knowledge of this at all and begged to hear more.
this child lives in the small yellow ranch house, right next door.

crows came at night and took us all hostage, she said.
they pistol whipped my daddy until his face was bloody red.
I expected TV news crews to pull up at any second of course.
biggest crow came in riding an enormous Arabian horse.

another crow was so shiny, his fur was ebony black.
he stole all our pink toothpaste, pushed them into a sack.
stopped by the kitchen to grab a watch to put in his pack.
he turned and cawed at me loudly when he looked back.

these crows may have been killers, they had shirts that said murder.
they stole our black taser gun we use as a cow herder.
one stuck out his beak and glared when they were turning to flee.
child’s mother said, “This kid watches way too much TV,”

Premium Member Love Is

Love is…
Love's a many multifaceted thing
Enthralling when it's in raptures full swing
No matter what or how long love doth last
Love’s in the heart of our future and past.

Love helps to shape the who that you become
Love changes all kinds of things once begun
Days are much sweeter, nights seem surreal
It's so snazzy how being in love feels.

Love connects true soul mates, leaving no place
For anyone else to gatecrash their space
Fire nor thunder could not tear them apart
They're glued together by the love of hearts.

Cupid the archer looks out from above
For those who're searching to find their true love
His arrow only flows to those he knows
Would accept with grace a string to their bows.

The poems I should've never had to write

The poems that weep with grief
The one that bleeds a sadness unnoticed
The ones that grieve the erasure of colour
I wish I didn't have to write poems
To convince you of our pain
The one that stains every word on every page
The ones that can't bleed out of existence
The ones that break and linger
I should've never had to write poems so sad
But what else must I do to prove to you
The mistreatment of my people has always happened
And continues to do
What is there left to do to stop the cycle of abuse
You silence our voices, you mute our words
But still I will write, for our stories demand to be heard

I should never of had to write poems of self worth
To convince you of black beauty
When we are the blueprint
Why must I need to write
To convince you of our light
A light that burns brighter than the sun
I should never have to write poems of love
Where we don't have to struggle
Where we are the main characters
Why must I convince you that we are not hard to love
That we deserve the sun, the moon and the stars
That we deserve more than the bare minimum
Why must the world make us cry
Despise
The skin that we live in
Why must I convince myself that I deserve love
That just because I'm black
Doesn't equate to being viewed as good enough
Why does it feel like I have to beg for acceptance
These are written poetry I should never of had to create

The poems lead by strength
Filled with the empty fuel of endurance we had no choice to go on without
The poems where our hearts are vigorously tested to see if we can make it to the next line
Why oh why is our pain a testament to see how much we can take
A test to see if we break
Because when your black
The weight of the world is on your back
And any sign that you may crack
Is their own permission to attack
Why are these poems I have to write
Where beneath the ink
Is the blood of my hands
A sacrifice of demand
For the price of being strong
I, and others should never of had to write the poems to explain
That being black means to always be with pain
Not just physical but also psychological
Where our existence is put to shame
And the grief that comes with the erasure of our names
But being black shouldn't mean a life boxed in by strength, yet somehow this is a burden that remains
