Premium Member Wear are You

You ask me what am I wearing
A heart full of hazel hope
A silver spirit daring and cherry caring
My mind is not blind to green ghosts I’m carrying
For teal time has designs of destiny I’m ferrying

I wear ribbons in my hair
The colors are significantly there
One purple for my lupus flare
Three pink for breast cancer share

One black for the fact Black Lives Matter
Brown for ancestors whose prayers are scattered
To the four winds despite sins of slavery
The brown ribbon given is one most dear to me

Red for ed as education is a neon need
Green as in collards for scholars to feed
Our kids in school all need to eat
Stop playing the fool make meals free

Blue for the souls battling mental illnesses
For many the truth is a battle with brilliance
Yellow for the mellowed heart of the missing
Orange for the natives and the real thanksgiving

White is for the lives of victims of drunk drivers
Lime is for all who serve and what they died for
Peach is for peace I hope the world will know
Clear is for you dear and whatever burdens your soul

I wear these ribbons like sky wears rainbow
I pray that we find our path no matter where we go

I Wandered Lonely As a Rose

I wandered lonely as a rose by Autumn's gate
as I lay there in still repose, petals strewn
I fell apart like dessert moon;

The scent that once perfumed my reign
were mellowed by September's rain
I drifted distant in the woods.

All my husks fell to the soil
each petal dried right where it stood
No gardener's hand of hue embroiled
that filament that quivered slow
like dying embers of nights glow

Shambled, windblown as the wind
beneath the last of summer's ray
regretfully I did rescind

As summer lost her fired splay
I wandered,
Lost and alone like a rose,
until the end of summer froze.

My neck crooked backward,
I stand between the stacks
feeling the weight of centuries,
the distilled wisdom of minds
who graced the earth with golden words,
words that pace the pages -
vellum, parchment, fine and common papers;
words, cordoned in lines, confined,
yet powerful tools to set one free,
a roamer far from home,
across universes,
beyond time's reach.

The light filters through high windows
downward to where I peer with squinted eyes
teasing out a jewel -
a title, an author, an adventure, a friend.

The air is charged,
the static of adventure,
heartfelt journeys of a hundred thousand writers,
their souls etched upon the pages
for ones such as I to stumble upon decades,
centuries later,
dream maps
thought castles,
imaginative quests.

Quietness reigns.
The elements of books -
leather, cloth, paper and ink -
infuse a rich elixir,
a mind expanding potion,
companion to best wine and oldest friendships
seasoned,
mellowed,
treasured.

I love you! Your flowered eyes get bright
To see me simply walk into a room.
They follow me and keep me in their sight.
How I adore those pretty eyes in bloom.

My love, words uttered from your perfect lips
are precious pearls, fair treasures from the sea.
Each syllable in honeyed cadence drips
a nectar which is sustenance for me.

My love, you are the moon and stars to me.
I’m mellowed by your aura’s softened glow.
There is no other face I long to see.
Come lie beside me now the lights are low.

This night with you I have been dreaming of.
Let's make of this sweet night a dream, my love.

Premium Member A Kiss of Sunshine

taking an early walk along the shore
awaiting for the royal entrance of the new day
through His Love Divine---
I hear the whisper of the cold and gentle wind into my ears saying:
the arrival of your majestic prince of the universe has now begun

excitements I feel deep down in my heart
giving a fleeting glimpse at the side of the ocean
there lies the long ranges of mountain-tops
seems as if they hide him from me
giving me suspense on his final exquisite appearance

as the ebbs move gracefully on their way back…
carpeting his path
waves all arise welcoming him with their loveliest prelude
the cold breeze gently wafts the perfumes as peaceful as they could
a scent of the blue ocean-potpourri
filling the air up to the clouds then down to my mood

as my prince finally ascends unto the clear sky
through his radiant rays he sends me right away his glowing smiles
descending his loving touch mellowed by God’s Loving Embraces
from my face creeping down to my whole being
all I feel is his warmth: an assurance that forever He cares

a very wonderful feeling I can’t explain
I close my eyes and raise my gentle face towards his rays
trying to absorb all the blessings and graces he brings
Oh, what a great and wonderful feeling!

keeping still my chin up on high
exposing to him my rosy cheeked face as I close my eyes
then I protrude my lips
As I want to finally feel my Prince Sun’s warmest kiss

a kiss of my Darling Sunshine
a sweet kiss of love
the greatest and eternal love
from up above

Note:

I love sunshine! My father gave me a ring when I was still young engraved with words Darling Sunshine because according to him I was born during sunrise. I lost the ring when I was staying in a dormitory as a student.

Premium Member I cannot Die

I cannot die tonight
Like the quiet corners of my mind
I dog-eared a book
Of pages i haven’t read
You know how long that took?
Frayed and yellowed
Always get me calm and mellowed
The spine cracked and worn
Each page a promise
Their adventures unfold

I cannot die today
Coz my lipstick’s too pretty
“Forbidden Love” in matte
By Pat McGrath
It gives me a nice pout
That send you in a frenzy
My face pales in comparison
I put it on as a subtle defiance,
As I navigate through the urgency,
A moment of personal reliance.

I cannot die today,
I am too busy
Scrolling on Etsy
Whatever calls my fancy
I will not have time
To stop, breathing

I cannot die today
I already planned my party
At the Acre
Who’s going to blow the candles?
Half-eaten Carvel cake
Half-baked excuses
Dancing under moonlit trees
Laughter echoing in the breeze
Living each moment like the last

There is leftover Ben and Jerry’s,
Pistachio, my sweet delight,
It would be frostbitten, forgotten
Without me to savor its creamy bite.
In the quiet of the midnight hour
Amidst the chaos I must attend
 A spoonful of comfort, a moment’s respite,
With each creamy scoop, worries mend.
For even in the urgency of saving lives,
There’s solace in this simple pleasure
A taste of normalcy amidst the storm
A reminder of life’s delicate measure.

Unraveling stories from the past
I cannot die today
There are lives I have to save
People I have to see
But I can’t save me

Premium Member Sepia Shades

Here at the gate, I sift through things,
Sort sepia dates, recall old flings.

The heart knows now the surge of feel,
Look back somehow to early stills.

Old sepia hues, photos yellowed,
Familiar cues time has mellowed.

Wonder finds gaze in nostalgia,
Glimpse through a maze of old sepia.

Black and white days now weathered brown,
Feel yesterdays with old time frowns.

My father stares, my mother thinks,
Love fills the air in verge and brink.

Truth wears a face in faded tones,
Beauty can trace the pulse of bones.

Sift through the pile, ply with old times,
Just for a while feel ancient chimes.

                                          What a change
                           From bouncy, bubbly and vivacious
                        To determined, devoted and dedicated
                                        More than ever
                             Reassuring, soothing and caring
                                     Pious and profound
The serene figure with large persona

From autumn aromas to Spring bloom
From silent nights to morning choir
Mild, soft and oblivious of herself
Flowing from one room to another
The cool breeze of devotion and care
The selfless soul, bereft of comfort
                          Merging herself with unending chores

Fifty years gone like a whisper
                                  Time changed into history
                              Oblivion ruled and embraced all
Entering into the body and mind
Of a dire and distinct man
Spending herself at the altar of
                            Commitment, tradition and destiny

Still solo and undiffused, but mellowed
She is the inevitable guest in my life
                                   Keeping inside her bosom
                                  The treasure of olden days
                                    With grown up children
                                  Gone to their destinations
The lady ethereal always sings inside me

Premium Member The Moon Waits For a Kiss

Her eyes went round,

Reflecting the moon,

The corners of his eyes crinkled,

Evening clouds echoed thunderous sounds.

He smiled,

Lighting her desire,

Her cheeks mellowed,

Soft and wild.

His lower lip trembled,

Stealing her kiss,

The corners of her lips quivered,

They held all of love`s light,

Until the morning assembled.

Her moon hovers the dark sky with delight,

She shines all day,

He hides waiting for her next kiss,

Uncovered by passions into the night.

Stars the only witnesses,

To their beautiful love affair,

They dim their lights,

Watching the man in the moon and his little misses.

Shamrock Dreams

As if the grass had leaves
my feet glide freely on the breeze
where a blade is not nearly a leaf
and the shamrock steals my luck like a thief.
The four clovered dreams predict a promise
that love and riches aren't quite that fully honest
and the fields of clover begin to burn yellow
brittle and crushed in stealy love mellowed.
Should the leprechauns appear
  to curtail the disappointment clear
can we ask for the golden pot
or just a glass of beer to fill the spot?
Silly shamrock dreams
whispering a tease along the steams
  through the field of gold
searching for the wish we hold.

Nonsensical play on words
should the Irish in me be heard.
Trying to do the rhyme time
to poetry once more find
I'm dying
if I'm lying.
