Love Sonnet

I love you! Your flowered eyes get bright
To see me simply walk into a room.
They follow me and keep me in their sight.
How I adore those pretty eyes in bloom.

My love, words uttered from your perfect lips
are precious pearls, fair treasures from the sea.
Each syllable in honeyed cadence drips
a nectar which is sustenance for me.

My love, you are the moon and stars to me.
I’m mellowed by your aura’s softened glow.
There is no other face I long to see.
Come lie beside me now the lights are low.

This night with you I have been dreaming of.
Let's make of this sweet night a dream, my love.

it seems long because it is two separate sonnets.

Andrea, I very much like "the original written very quickly). I guess the "first flush of feeling" that came through in reading it and its quiet cadence captured me. The revision, though well conceived, seems to lack the passion of the original. Thanks for participating in the contest.

Let me work on it. I'm at the grocery store now. When I first read I was thinking sweeter.

I love a romantic sonnet Andrea, I really like how you started each stanza with my love and ended the final couplet with it as well. I might look for another word instead of "other" to spice up that line a bit if you are planning on revising.

where is the word "other" you want me to substitute for something else? I don't see it.
