Who am I?
I am a drummer, a poet,
a good man, or so I'm told.
I'm a sweet one, a dreamer,
a hopeless romantic,
yet doomed to loneliness.
I am a reader, a carpenter,
a funny man, or so I'm told.
I'm a smart one, an intellectual,
a book-smart sort,
yet doomed to foolishness.
I am a geek, a patriot,
a well-mannered man, or so I'm told.
I'm a deserving one, an honest guy,
one, I hope, of character,
yet doomed to self-doubt.
Each and every single one of us
is a multifaceted arrangement;
within us burns the light,
not of a single candle,
flickering feebly, alone, against the darkness;
but instead that of the chandelier,
a collage of disjointed pieces
cobbled together to form this union
of elements, of emotions,
that we call a soul.
We try to identify ourselves by these
characteristics, these parts of us,
some certainly more than others.
And yet, we're all
doomed to question them.
I'm so many things, so many pieces.
I like most of them, but I don't know
what to do, who to be.
And nothing I am puts me any closer
to what I truly desire - love.
What does that make me?
Too long I limped along a lonely road, born into this Sahara desert of a life,
parched and hungry, face weathered and gaunt.
A deaf, dumb, and blind man, drawn and quartered by her knife,
back tarred and feathered by a vulture's taunt.
I searched the wide world for your wonderful smile,
tired soul devoid of that whole, found wanting of the other half.
Try to find the right words, after each lost and lonely mile,
my sorrows washed away by that sweet, infectious laugh.
Like hopeless romantic's lot, who climbed out of a dark place,
beyond my wildest dreams, I finally found you.
Yet daft was I to hear not., your prayer for love's embrace..
as two hearts lifted in love were bound to.
When last moon fades, no more hopeless romantics left,
and strings of sanguine hearts untwine.
I will hold on to memory's tender touch yet,
and all the warm days when you were mine.
Dear fellow being,
You don't know me
But yeah, I was once
a hopeless romantic like you
Cards and flowers were my favourite
And chocolates, my share of happiness
Like you, I danced to happy tunes
And sang with the rain
I wrote my dreams with colors
But now I believe in nothing but black
Sunrises and sunsets were peaceful
And full moon nights, the manifestation of love
Now it's just another day, I have to get through
No no, I lack no confidence and joy
But pinks are now blues
And yellows are gray
The pillars of trust are more ashen
And love is another bargain.
But could you please be kind enough
And compose me into a poem?
Like I used to compose someone like you
Will you write a song in my name??
That'll give me a glimpse of the world I left
Will you climb the tree with me
And share my laughter and craziness??
Will you dance with me
All night long under the bright stars???
On "when you say nothing at all" by Ronan Keatings
So that I can experience the comfort of love
One last time, One last radiant hue.
I wonder how many poems I'll have to write till I fully realized that you will never be mine
How many tears will fall to the ground
Telling myself I'm okay with the reality of the fact you will never see me as more than a friend
How many days will I spend day dreaming about you in my arms till I realize that you are in his
I wonder when you'll realize that all that you do is make me confused
How many hours will I spent wishing you were mine
How many days will it take me to move on
How many months does it take a hopeless romantic to leave their love alone
How many conversations will my friends have to endure for me to say I don't want you anymore
How many times will you kiss my forehead goodbye before I see I'm a toy to you
How many late night texts will it take me to realize that I'm not yours and you're not me
I wonder how long it will take me to move on
I wonder how long it will take you to move on from what we had
My love and obsession is the written word
Whether in a poem or my favorite book.
It can hold pieces of the past and contain
mystery,
I enjoy reading about the days of old.
When money is tight, I can travel to various
places.
And different cultures emerge and I see
amazing things.
I'm a hopeless romantic so I read for sure
pleasure,
Who knows what I find? Reading is what I
love to do.
As a child I endured so much pain and the
written word soothed me.
A beautiful book gave a hurt girl shelter from
the rain.
My obsession allowed me to be or do anything
I became free,
I believe in the written word, it was my life line.
I used to think I had writers block
because I don't write like I used to
but I think back what was my reason for poetry?
I felt so misunderstood and
I just wanted people to get to know the real me
back then I was a devout Christian
and in between of attempting
to live the holy & clean life
I still felt dirty…it was rough
a hopeless romantic who was a victim of his circumstances but also his choices
I wrote to tell tales like
I was with a woman I heard spirits speak to
I guess we can chalk that up to white noise
I guess I had a story to tell feeling trapped
as a young teen and poetry was my rebel yell
Loneliness has made me a hopeless romantic,
I don't have the youth or charm to offer you,
I don't have the great health or wealth to share with you,
I only have me, a hopeless romantic, to make you smile at me.
When you first smiled at me,
your greetings ignited the sparkles of love in me,
I saw the mirage of the love oasis in your eyes,
I daydreamt of the fountain of affection in your smiles.
When you first touched my hands,
I almost got electrocuted by the loving sensation,
When I squeezed your hands with mine,
the sweats of love were born in the warmth of our affection.
When we were together for a few moments,
my loneliness hid itself in some distant corner,
Those few hours of conversation, fun and games,
will remain in my thoughts for days to come.
When you bid farewell with a gentle hug,
I thought I lost the biggest treasure in the world,
Even if you will be gone for a while,
Till we meet, I will be daydreaming about you day and night.
The beauty of hugs,
Is that we are often given them,
When we least deserve them,
So, the next time we might feel more deserving of them,
We might even find we no longer want to live in a world without them,
Unless we are unlucky and have an inborn aversion to them,
Or do not have a romantic bone in our body and only see sex,
As the reason for them.
Hugs spontaneously given show we care,
And while sex is something most of us desire,
That makes us feel alive,
Even in old age,
If you never get a hug after sex,
Then no matter how much you desire,
It may be better to take a cold shower,
As that is not the right kind of sex,
If you are a hopeless romantic,
Or aspire to be one.
Not easy for anyone,
In a world where it is hard to trust anyone,
And most believe romance to be dead,
But if you look at the go to site for aspiring poets,
There are poems there that will bring tears to the driest eyes,
And give one, a case of romantic sighs.
That will open your eyes to a world that hungers for more hugs,
And less sex that only ends with shrugs instead of hugs.
This envisioning is so cliché
It is making my cheeks so rosé:
A lightly tanned brunette couple
Walking through alleys so unsupple...
Above their handholding and umbrellas,
In the pouring rain, walking among fellas.
Then suddenly he stops and turns to her,
Drops his umbrella and kisses ever deeper.
But it's just all a New York City fantasy,
A reality that may or may never come to be.
All I can see is he and I having coffee,
Then an electro swing song sets me free.
Indeed it is a hope and dream all so cliché,
As a hopeless romantic can't help it anyway.
Maybe he's more than someone new,
Maybe someday we'll share a few.
You hold someone down, do what they don't ask, fulfill their wildest dream, to not feel reciprocated, to feel you are being used, while your needs drift down stream.
You endure the pain; you accept your fate every time, ignoring every warning, hoping this one is the last rhymes.
We do this always; we do this cause we are the ones that can handle the pain. We are the ones that are chosen to carry others through the rain.
"I'm never gonna love again" "I'm done trying to be happy", things we have all said, things that have made us all scrappy.
Your emotions run so deep, your emotions are on the edge of your sleeve, not everyone can handle this way, most people will run, most people will leave.
Butt, don't be tearful, don't be sad. You will always find love, no matter how horrible you've had.
Just remember people come into your life as blessings or lessons. Don't hold grudges life is too short, forgive easily and live free of obsessions.
Some people will come into your life to disturb it and cause chaos. The right people will bring you peace without making you feel like a boss.
My thoughts float to the Emperor penguin, showcased in "Happy Feet" finding their song partners. When you hear the right song, you won't have to question intentions. They make you feel safer and more hopeful as kindergartners.
As much as you think being hopelessly romantic is a curse, one day you find the one, you will find the one that will hold you tighter than a compact out of a prostitute’s purse...
No, no, no, that's too dark. Let me try another spark.
As much as you think being a hopeless romantic is a curse, you will soon find the one that will hold you tighter than a casket being held by a hearse...
Wow, dude, could you be any darker? You couldn't be any more darkening with a permanent marker.
As much as you think being a hopeless romantic is a curse, you will soon find the one that will hold you tighter than an arm being poked by a nurse.
M'kay, m'kay that's the one that sounds the best, that's the one that will show I'm not a mess.
