My Obsession

My love and obsession is the written word
Whether in a poem or my favorite book.
It can hold pieces of the past and contain
mystery,
I enjoy reading about the days of old.

When money is tight, I can travel to various
places.
And different cultures emerge and I see
amazing things.
I'm a hopeless romantic so I read for sure
pleasure,
Who knows what I find? Reading is what I
love to do.

As a child I endured so much pain and the
written word soothed me.
A beautiful book gave a hurt girl shelter from
the rain.

My obsession allowed me to be or do anything
I became free,
I believe in the written word, it was my life line.

So important to search for a soothing life. A sort of escapism. In fact I continue to read and write for that purpose.

Amen my friend. Reminds me of a song I heard and loved a long time ago at a play on Cinderella. "In my own little corner, In my own little chair, I can be what ever I want to be." A fine write. God Bless, JB

Touching, Alexis... And wonderful that the written word is your refuge -- as opposed to a smartphone or some wonky 'device.' Cheers, Gershon

I love History whether I read it or follow documentaries on TV or sometimes on Netflix there is a historical story that I must see. If only we could see the whole world in one life time, how awesome that would be! Blessings and hugs my dear friend, Jennifer.

That’s wonderful Alexis, the written word did wonders for me too and still does. Poetry or history whatever the read, takes one to places that fulfil a need.... Belle :-)

But there is even more for you to say, e.g., I still prefer reading the newspaper in the morning to reading the news on a computer! Well done! Aloha! Rico
