As we sit here waiting for the play to start,
we wonder what will it be like. Curtain now going up, two children playing. Both happy as could be, then jealousy sets in. One killed the other, the audience falls silent. The parents hear screams, they come running. Days-weeks-months go by, the parents never recover. The one family blames the other, a child should not die. Then screams are heard, the audience falls silent. It was not the play, a mouse ran up her leg.

A few branches of flowers seemed less, so I planted a garden
A simple love message wasn't good enough, so l wrote you a whole story
A few hours of my time wouldn't cut it, so l gave you my eternity
l have the best of cologne and branded clothes just for this moment.
Love is in the air I feel it in the nostrils
But then It hits me....
l have done this ritual many times a number
and yet i cant rid of this insatiable hunger
Let's pause and reflect for a moment
............................
It's funny how my hands have familiarised with the contours of your figure, but i haven't figured you out
I guess we were haste in exploring the depths of our desires, ignoring what the covenant was all about
l ain't letting us "cross when we get there"
Surely, my lack of Gym time won't deter me from "having my chest out"
Better now than later before we become "water under the bridge"
Let's not get lost in the fragrance of flower petals here array
Nor the scents of the red candles on display
Lest we forget that which is going astray
It's time for reincarnation of what we are.
The world begins here,
at this worn wooden table,
its edges softened by years of hands
that set, cleared, and held.
Morning sunlight spills across plates,
coffee steam curling like old stories
we tell each other
between bites of bread and laughter.
Here, my mother folds love into dough,
my father seasons patience into stew,
grandmother hums the recipes of our past,
and unseen, ancestors linger in the scent of cumin and cardamom,
their whispers threading through the clatter of spoons.
Arguments dissolve in the hum of conversation,
joy rises with the scent of fresh coriander,
and tears, too, are gathered
between the bowls and shared silence.
This table teaches me:
life is breaking bread together,
listening when words fail,
holding space for each other,
and remembering
even in ordinary moments,
we are never alone.
There are some sad things that happen,
and here is a story of love broken . . .
Maureen lived in a small quaint house,
with her dog, hens and maybe a mouse;
but she was getting old and forgetful,
and Molly her dog was also old and feeble.
Maureen's health declined and she became needful,
now, neighbors take old Molly for a walk,
the hens were sold- hope not for the cookpot;
in a care home Maureen just looks at the clock.
This tale of sadness doesn't end right there,
with old Maureen alone, no one to care;
a carer moved in there, to cook and clean:
Maureen is now the happiest I've seen!
The carer Pascale is so very kind;
she doesn't mind Maureen has lost her mind;
they go on walks in parks, the dog behind,
or tea in cafes, rides by bus or train . . .
She loves to stay inside her own domain;
an end for sure to all Maureen's old pain!
As for the hens- they all have found a forever home.

If I had one day left to live
I would sign that card to make sure my organs I give.
If I had one day left to breathe
I would spend some time just taking in the breeze.
If I had one day left alive
Living it to the fullest I would strive.
If I had one day left to pray
I would ask God for a beautiful day.
If I had one day left to enjoy
I would read my son a last bedtime story.
If I had one last meal to make,
I would eat potatoes and a real rare steak.
If I had one last dollar to spend,
I would buy something nice for my best friend.
If I had one last poem to write,
I would make sure that the words rhymed right.
If I had one last sunset to see,
I would want my wife sitting alone with me.
If I had one last gasp of air,
I would want my children all to be there.
But please don’t worry, I am really okay,
Just sitting here wondering about my last day.
Oh I do tell of this story of that amazing ride that day
In the telling of His Glory such hope that's in His Way
Going to work on I-95 right down by the Philly airport
I'd hit this smell as I drive like the sewer of some sort
And each day I would again pass and there that smell
In the smelling of all that gas from Sunoco and Shell
But today and just before I simply praised His Name
You can be sure that things certainly weren't the same
Like the florist or a viewing such a strong flowery scent
I knew exactly who was doing but not what it had meant
As over that entire bridge I went His love being so clear
Such a Heavenly scent as the Lord holds us all so dear
Saying I don't need a sign as my car is now descending
I believe just fine maybe someone else needs amending
Working in His mysterious Way as maybe that one is you
And as you're sitting here today all that I have said is true
Teetering I stand poised with bated breath,
Staring at the precipitous of death.
Ground beneath, slippery, shaky slimy.
I fear my state, fate and fear will collide.
A gust of doubt, a whispered wisp of fear,
Blown on ledge, all it takes to topple here.
Each moment hanging on the edge of chance,
Cast into a risky hazardous dance.
But I resolve to not relent just yet.
Though all my strength and poise is almost spent.
Each shake, teeter, totter, slip that's beaten,
Gives me hope that this can be defeated.
Just when I feel safe, sound akin again,
A sound blast shakes me off, all hopes in vain.
I slip, fall, scream, with arms flailing wildly
Tumble down, it seems for eternity.
I startle, awakened by my own scream.
Ah, that was such a vivid lucid dream!
It was an EVEning to remAMBER for Jane,
WEN DA men gathered in the GLEN,
OL I VER there were Taylor's friends uNOAHn
So, she was STEPH AN' FREDDYn' alone
Then HER MAN, Taylor, called out
In an almost drunKEN stupor of doubt,
"WIL MA' DARLENE come here please?"
She was AL FRED but he PERSISts.
She went half-hearTEDly JUST IN time
To see him NEIL there in the grime,
"WILLIE MARY me, Jane?" he asked her,
even as the loud CAROLINE got BETTY.
She couldn't even MARSHALL her thoughts,
But simply NODDY 'yes' through the tears she fought,
"Oh! KENN ETH be?" Taylor said in a whispered hush,
Then cried out to the ESTHERs, "SHANN ON and IGNATI US".
His wish was GRANTed that memorABEL night,
Jane was ulTIMOTHY his after his long 'single' plight.
All his friends were FELICITY Taylor and Jane,
This memory would throughout their OLIVEs remain.

The Devil's always with me
each day that I go through.
He's always trying to get me
to do things I shouldn't do.
He goes with me out on the job
to do my work each day.
He tries to overcome me
when I neglect to pray.
He goes to bed with me each night
arises width me each morn.
He'll always be here in this life
till Gabriel blows his horn.
On Sundays when I go to church
he enters at my side.
He's just one step behind me
as down the aisle i glide.
The Devil's always seeking
one whom he may devour.
I know he's present with me now
at this very hour.
The Devil's like a sly old fox
I do not take him lightly.
I just take Jesus by the hand
and hold on ever tightly.
