AND one hand clapping against
the shuttered storm cellar doors is
never a reason to deny ability:
like mushroom clouds as falling
tears splatting fragments of
dusted minds – by parched perched
gills of neon fossils; the signs are
here, there, and within the ? of
a hungry-starved dying youth/
/-->the ordered degree of chaos!
By opened minds the wheels turn
As curving fanning windmills churn;
Abrasions of mental collisions
As rough as life and art
(and smooth as death and data)
as all atheist and scientist know
who cares if the tree makes a sound
when it dies AND I say “hello” to
a black void but no reply, ergo:
AVOID.

I mouth the words and giggle, shrill and bright
Just how you like it.
I make sure to take all the corresponding steps, to walk this sugar-glazed path
Tongue on your neck
I make sure everything’s in check, that you’re taking the bait
And I don’t want to make it sound like I’m a fisherman
As if you’re a particular catch
I’m just a kid, sticking a hand in the river
Grabbing the first fin I feel
I smile wide, toothless
You thrash in my hand, you can’t see, you can’t breathe
Your scales aren’t shiny, you’re missing an eye
Throw you into the water, let you hide in the deep.
You could never be like I wished
Scaled and icy, aquamarine
A beautiful thing, a rare beautiful thing
But you’re just a damn fish
You’re a force, an immovable force, a machine
Your eyes follow me and you want to
Play touch tank,
but you’re a grown man
So I pull a red herring and bite off your hand.
Feel the gears turning in your head
See your eyes as they think of the next step
You are a fake
And you know I would trade
You for a piece of paper with his name on it
You know it, but you still let me
Stick my fingers in your gills
Grab your fins and touch your scales
You let me play on all your strings
And then I let you swim away.
(Inveniam viam)
Far beyond these eerie things, where limits have no scales
Fish are replacing gills, with turbine aerated tails
Sea level’s losing all meaning, for the humpback whales
Ships piggyback them, harpoons syphon wind from their sails
Today I woke up early, lately I’ve let dreams flow
Into an abstract yonder, where visions often go
A wave came over me, up from my downy pillow
When tidal forces passed away, many moons ago
As the ocean waved goodbye, I called for an encore
Behaving like a poultice, the beach drew back old gore
You could’ve bowled me over, sent ripples to my core
Never again I’d sleep soundly, near this bloody shore
After a fretful lie-on, facing truths with each turn
My sundial running on empty, stars can’t always churn
Moribund in dimness, til an old spark can return
Reigniting glory days, (let supernovae burn)
Overhead the vacuum grows, just to make more space
Stretching my dysmorphia, to align with gods face
No one knows for certain, who enhanced his human race
Gave an artful hand, outsmarting evolution’s pace
As life spirals forward, in a world out of control
Entropy dismantles, stripping back our maker’s role
The poet in me keeps goofing, digging deeper holes
He’s a junkie rhymester, overdosing on this soul
So hail all billionaires, who never walk down my street
Flying above fake cripples, with power in their feet
Prodigies of bad and worse, scheming to make ends meet
Leaves an aftertaste of smugness, one that will repeat
As for those big questions, some take a straightforward twist
Two things I thought might go away, stubbornly exist
Not death or taxes, I’m already over that list
Each day I arise, how come lies and bullsh!t persist?
First there was oblivion, til I woke up and saw
Now fully awake, dead ahead looms a fatal flaw
But so long as I can dream, and able to guffaw
It only hurts when I laugh, Don’t you think? vents my jaw

Hms
Rosy red, his cheeks said
As good cheer he spread
Laughter, like a merry kiss
Touched hearts with bliss
Fish in every variety caught
Delicious nutrition he brought
So that every mouth watered
For the delicacies he slaughtered
Rosy red, his cheeks burned
With joy we never learned
His smile, catching as a cold
Reminded his heart was gold
Fish, all different tastes, flavors
Brought to tummies, savors
Yummy delights that once splashed
In the sea before his knife slashed…
Away the fins, the gills, the frills
A fish to flaunt the fisherman’s skills

I smell the scent in the water
As it pushes through my gills
My desire to return
beckons me to the place of my birth
For me the desire consumes me
I struggle against the current
Imagining my place of rest
I desire to place my children
safely on a bed of stones
Sweet water to welcome me home
I know this to be a perilous Journey
I may travel over a hundred miles
Grizzly bears and Eagles block my path
They are to be my test
Yet I am strong
I have swam the oceans
I have known predators greater than these
They will not impede my path
Flying upward in the air
I glimpse the night moon
reaching towards my horizon
water splashes as I make my way higher
Almost
yes, almost home
I push beyond my limits
gathering speed
My sisters and I
we turn the river red
Arriving
thankfully arriving
imagination spawns reality
Estuary,
cool relief!
I release seven times
Now, completely exhausted
I can finally rest
Thirteen years
I have waited
To come home.
Human nature, a mercurial being.
Individualistic, out-of-place souls.
Searching for answers but not truly seeing:
Their beauty within, burning like white-hot coals.
At times, so gentle..with empathy so pure.
Emitting radiance, a kind of allure.
Calling the masses, the meek, to surrender.
Healing hidden shadows, blessed defender.
Human nature, a mercurial being.
Overrun and overcrowd. Stuffed to the gills.
Innocent victims. Run. Terrified. Fleeing.
Maniacal laughter follows, gives chills.
Warmongers, detached. So blinded by their greed.
Were they born to hate? Or do we plant the seed?
Empty hearts in an empty shell. They're feeding.
No love for those they hurt. Left behind, bleeding.

I feel my ears pop,
As the light above me increases ...
Columns of purple sunshine shimmer and dance.
I swim up out of the cool, inky blackness of the depths,
And finally reach the surface, head bobbing like a balloon,
Frilly slits on my neck closing up and sealing, as I switch to breathing air.
I suck the thick oxygen atmosphere deep into my lungs, then exhale.
The detritus from my gills comes up with the first breath, and I spit it away,
(Small creatures that follow me, gobble it up hungrily ... nothing wasted).
I need not struggle swimming on the surface here -
The water's high saline level helps me float without effort,
So I lay back and stretch, relaxing my length, as if in a chaise lounge.
The bright purple sky dances with clouds, (and a couple of bright stars),
Two blood-red suns now low, nearing the horizon.
Though they never set, they do crimp the reach for many hours,
Before climbing again to make the sky near-blue.
Clouds are rarely white, (only when the suns are high),
But vary in shades from crimson to pink,
Again, depending on the time of day and moisture content.
I live above AND below the water here ...
My genetic alterations, (very expensive, thus),
Allow me to extract oxygen from air and water, easily transitioning.
I have long webbed toes and fingers to swim speedily,
Eyes that can detect ultraviolet and infrared,
And something similar to sonar, that I can search the depths with,
And also use to tap into the communication satellites,
As well as send personal messages to others here such as I,
Who have chosen the amphibious life of this purple planet.
I have a house back on the island, with all amenities,
But I rarely go there, choosing instead to spend most of my time
On or near the water, searching the depths for the edibles,
Or sleeping on the beach under the stars,
Composing music and poetry during the day, or visiting friends.
I send my work out onto the inter-world web,
It earns me enough to remain comfortable ... and happy.
But what I love the most, are the other intelligent creatures here ...
Most are "sea" dwellers, but all are non-aggressive.
Learning the language of each will take a lifetime,
But it is a labor of love, with joyous reward ...
Friendship!
Clean air has now become a pipe dream.
The bleak energy speaks loudly,
With a lot of stale and toxic air.
Like Jonah in the belly of the whale,
People stay choking, choking for fresh air!
Sapphire waters, smothered,
With an opaque membrane of oil slick.
Fish come up opening their gills wide.
They die starving for fresh air.
There is a layer of soot in the air.
People cough n’ choke, their larynx itch.
The skies let down a deluge of tears.
Songbirds no more sing
Dusty soot fills the air.
Sun- stands a flaming inferno
Day scorched in its violent fury
Spectral figures grope in dark
Despair greets us as a prologue to the day,
And ends with an epilogue of the night.
The old world is strangled to death.
Toxic waste muddles up everywhere
We plant demon seeds, water flowers of fire,
And reap a harvest of doom.
The world once dressed in beauty,
Now wears a mantle of pollution.
Green- not a color any more.
Swept by the winds of change,
I see and feel with a shudder,
That this is NOT the world I inherited,
Nor will it be the world I would bequeath.
Countless children coming after me,
Will they accept the bequest with gratitude?
Or will they shun it like plague?
The earth wriggles in pain,
But its silent whimper
Falls in deaf unheeding ears!
"The streams are my veins."
Rivers, rather than flowing around us, deliver vitality to every cell and fiber in the body. They are the life-giving arteries and veins of the earth. By Poet
Sarcastic, keen vision makes me shiver,
Some light gills merge to shape a grand river.
My shattered lungs could burst the concrete chains,
Each song stirs the vent veins of the liver.
All gentlest sounds conspire to clear my veins,
Your love flows like the Nile through Egypt's plains.
But can I ignore your love in my face?
Don't miss wetting the dense stems with your mains.
Wasting flowers could divest her of grace,
My soul was relieved by the tune's embrace.
Allow viewing realms from the onset.
She fascinates every time with the lace.
No applied falseness but switches my mindset,
I am just leery about this concept.
Dull words of fear, half peace, and half sorrow,
A halt would be marked; I lack an outset.
They say you were all over the bellow,
Croon in a shrewd tone, and you will follow.
Once you head me going, I'm harsh to sway,
I've seen creeks full of life rushing 'morrow.
A calm stream bears lithe life into the clay,
Reap peace and calm, at sea, don't jump astray.
All the sounds are causing my veins to stream,
No mountains or freeways prompt me to stray.
My veins run through my mind like magic-dream,
It's glum, but I note them in my bloodstream.
Your love spares me from being powerless,
When you wake up, it won't stop meaning realms.

A tadpole's journey, humble and small,
In still waters, it begins to crawl,
With gills that breathe beneath the surface,
It longs for metamorphosis, a destined purpose.
The tadpole morphs, with limbs that sprout,
A froglet now, to the water’s edge about,
The final form, a frog so green and grand,
Hops on lily pads, roams the land.
Blessings from above, a gentle hand,
Transformes lust to love, like grains of sand.
Delusion fades, illumination bright,
Earth and heaven blend, in purest light.
In shadows deep, where doubt once grew,
A spark of grace, and hearts renew.
From earthly chains to wings of light,
We rise, we soar, to celestial height.
Dual realms converge, in sacred dance,
A timeless, boundless, soul romance.
Metamorphosis, a divine decree,
Unveils the truth, sets spirits free.
