Clean air has now become a pipe dream. The bleak energy speaks loudly, With a lot of stale and toxic air. Like Jonah in the belly of the whale, People stay choking, choking for fresh air! Sapphire waters, smothered, With an opaque membrane of oil slick. Fish come up opening their gills wide. They die starving for fresh air. There is a layer of soot in the air. People cough n’ choke, their larynx itch. The skies let down a deluge of tears. Songbirds no more sing Dusty soot fills the air. Sun- stands a flaming inferno Day scorched in its violent fury Spectral figures grope in dark Despair greets us as a prologue to the day, And ends with an epilogue of the night. The old world is strangled to death. Toxic waste muddles up everywhere We plant demon seeds, water flowers of fire, And reap a harvest of doom. The world once dressed in beauty, Now wears a mantle of pollution. Green- not a color any more. Swept by the winds of change, I see and feel with a shudder, That this is NOT the world I inherited, Nor will it be the world I would bequeath. Countless children coming after me, Will they accept the bequest with gratitude? Or will they shun it like plague? The earth wriggles in pain, But its silent whimper Falls in deaf unheeding ears!

This wonderful poetry explores the catastrophic consequences of pollution and environmental damage on our world. Loss of clean air, contaminated rivers, and an overall feeling of sadness and hopelessness are all results of human activities on Earth, which are highlighted in it. The poem alludes to inheritance and our duty to protect the environment for the benefit of future generations. Well done on your top-tier win.

Clean air is very vital and the things we inhale add to our health problems. I hope we find permanent solutions to these things. I always love your writing Valsa. I missed it. And when the earth cries, who would pay it? "The world once dressed in beauty, Now wears a mantle of pollution." Indeed. But can we really go back to how it was? When everything was clean and pure.

Dear Valsa, your verses evoke a harrowing reality where pollution's grasp suffocates the once pristine beauty of nature. I loved how each line carries the weight of a planet in peril, a plea for change amidst the suffocating grip of environmental decay. Your words awaken a sense of urgency, compelling us to confront the consequences of our actions and strive for a future where clean air is not just a dream, but a fundamental right for all. AMEN! - Blessings, Daniel

Brilliant poem and I suspect a definite win. I think your closing verse is so apt ' The earth does wriggle in pain'. I believe that your poetry will become famous. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
