Golden boy

My brother Al is weird
But not all was it appeared
Even from a young age
He was put on a golden stage
No violence no shouting
All his words no doubting
He demanded they gave in
A spoilt boy and a devilish grin
He was the chosen one
And I was none
A cast off is the best I’d get
Followed by a dirty threat
He was allowed his freedom
Because he had autism
I was his spare
They couldn’t even bare
The wrapped him on cotton wool
He floated through childhood
Acted like he had a knighthood
Reality and him never met
I was their only regret
They locked me out the picture
So he can be a fixture
While he buried his head in books
The made me the crook
His only friend a gamer boy
Driven there to enjoy
Some company or to be social
Friend paid to be Nobel
They were desperate for him to be normal
They made his ego immortal
Off he went to boarding school
Gave them confidence to be cruel
He went with a banner of shame
That they could frame
As a master of intelligence
Meanwhile they were showing nothing but negligence
Every weekend they picked him up
And listened to his rubbish none stop
They massaged his ego
Till it couldn’t fit in the depot
He was their pride
I was their deranged child
Every opportunity they splashed the cash
Only making him more trash
Holidays, clothes, games and more
Meanwhile I slept on the floor
Never a day in his life has he had to graft
As our parents were his permanent staff
They blew smoke up has backside
To the point you can only roll your eyes
This man child can never be wrong
He gets louder to try and belong
His arrogance is so loud and profound
That one day it will make him drown
He has had no consequence for his action
His ego still gives him satisfaction
Now both parents have passed away
Putting his attitude and personality on display
I resent the differences in the way we were treated
I feel he cheated his way through his life so far
But thank you god we don’t see eye to eye

His Stroke

just a little slurring on the left side
as he holds back these tears
my eldest brother
so funny down the years...

we`ve had our differences
yes, that I can say
and yes, I still love him and wish the stroke away-

He`s so gung ho to get going
he`s amazing to me
inspirational and uplifting and funny as can be...

how he keeps busy in that hospital by day
is a mystery to me as his spirits don`t fray

he does all his exercises
in fact he does more
in hopes of escape
on that hospital floor-

he`s got his reservations in
to be with the world real soon-
my brother
the star
you got me over the moon.

Premium Member THE RAINL THE WIND AND THE SUN

The rain that showered us all evening had stopped.
although many drops were still clinging to the trees…
As I walked a few of those drops fell down on me
coaxed off their leaves by an early morning breeze.

The ever-shifting clouds seemed to be having fun
as they danced around the moon who is always happy to reflect the sun.

As I felt the wind against my face
and watched the sun-lit moon and clouds shimmy, shake and sway
I was reminded of this Native American blessing…
a wonderful way to start one’s day:

‘May you be strengthened by yesterday’s rain…
walk straight into tomorrow’s wind
and cherish each moment of the sun today.’

I believe we could have learned a great deal
from the indigenous cultures…if we had found a way

to get to know the people
who first populated this land…
If we had tried to comprehend their culture
If we had tried to understand.

Then today…instead of walking separately…
we could all be walking hand-in hand…as one…
respecting one another’s differences
while enjoying…the rain, the wind and the sun

Woul Then

Bruised Ego's
and hurt feelings
overcoming the
stresses of differences
scaling the cultivation of secrecy
to partner and reporter
to connect and communicate
the emotional and physical intimacies
of belonging
being needed
being wanted
and being loved
non- deceptive
the justifcation of
conflict in resolution
the eventaul day
of togetherness
to start anew
to unite as one

Spoke Eros Te Love God
to these people who needed Guidance
for that togetherness after conflict
Meanderd Might they
sort between the things
that matter
Those tender mercies whisper to the need of belonging
Echo of Mercy Whispers of Love

A Child's Christmas Prayer of Despair For a Hindu Saint

A Child’s Christmas Prayer of Despair for a Hindu Saint
by Michael R. Burch

Santa Claus,
for Christmas, please,
don’t bring me toys, or games, or candy...
just... Santa, please,
I’m on my knees!...
please don’t let Jesus torture Gandhi!

Will Jesus Christ cause or allow Albert Einstein and Mahatma Gandhi to be tortured in an "eternal hell" for guessing wrong about which earthly religion to believe? Is the good news of the gospels that if you guess wrong, you go to hell? What about Jesus's parable of the Good Samaritan, who put aside religious differences to practice compassion? Did Jesus, who saved all his sternest criticism for hypocrites, talk the talk but fail to walk the walk himself? Or did Christian theologians get something very, very wrong? And what would Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny say about such intolerance and infinite cruelty? Keywords/Tags: Christianity, Christian, Jesus Christ, Santa Claus, Christmas day, heaven, hell, salvation, bible, gospel, Gandhi, Hindu, saint, knees, kneeling, prayer, mercy, compassion, grace, toys, games, candy, god, religion, intolerance, atheist

As the Prophets Come and Go
David J Walker

I
The streets are empty and
The empathy of stars blesses the night sky
With the context of a simple reality
Making us believe we are who we are
One person touched by one star
One holding the others hand
From a billion lightyears away
One turns to the night as
The other turns to the day

II
Halfway between the equinox and solstice
The earth seems undecided
as if it might change its mind about the season
as if the sun had given it reason to doubt
But then the first freeze sets in
As if on cue the winter claims the calendar

III
The thing about the gods is the
Fickleness of preference
You would think the issue would be
Some sort of proven reverence
Perhaps it is the inventiveness of our
Names and stories that change with
The passing centuries
Only a Prophet would know
But prophets come and go

IV
How is it that we hear silence
And see nothing
Is it a sort of death of our senses
An issue of depth perception?
Do we refuse to embrace
The face of defiant differences
That disagree with our perceived
Sensibilities?
Do we prefer self-imposed
disabilities?

Premium Member Stand Behind Your President

The people have spoken
They flexed their muscle
As change was demanded

Rattling the diplomatic cage
Forever shattering the mold
Politics will never be the same
Neither will fake news -

Fighting a wave of negativity
Bitter tongues wagging
Taking the easy way out

Sitting scornful on the sidelines
Criticizing screaming and whining
Not lifting a finger in an attempt
To make this world a better place

Just meddling and brewing strife
Tinting all with anger and bickering
Instead of trying to unite and
Leave all differences behind

Be positive and constructive
Stand in harmony in support of those
Trying to make America strong again

If you're not part of the solution
You're part of the problem
Stand up and show your patriotic colors
While there is still hope

Word Sonata in B Flat (in 5 Movements)

You know exactly what you’re doing.
You sit in that short red skirt, and
Cross your shiny tan legs, there. Now you
Lean over with full cleavage exposed,
And partake in another draw of smoky seduction;
You can see the dollar signs in my knowing eyes,
And I can see lovely times at poolside,
In your short skirt, and dark glasses.

So cheers! To us, just a couple of cool cats,
Two old hippies,
With lemon drinks, glass bongs, and feathered toys,
Conversing wordlessly in eye language,
Under the searing unzipping sun,
Embracing the approaching nakedness.

Laying out in a chaise lounge with white noses,
Just drying out our souls and bodies,
Drying out our differences with the holding of a draw.
Pass it over here sweetie.
I feel it too, as you sit there,
Staring at me like I’m the package you were expecting,
Last week when the mails didn’t come through,
Due to the storm, and the mud and the misery.

I enjoy women like you.
As you sit there in your short red skirt.
There is a mysterious gloss covering everything you say,
A gooey gloss that smells of electrical wiring,
Something that might make a person sick,
Or maybe bring back a stubborn memory you forgot about
For decades, because you were lost,
Lost inside a rolled-up carpet,
An old rain-ruined rug from 1958, or so,
When times in the backseat meant something to a person.

Now look at us, just a couple of cool cats,
Two old hippies,
Bored and resigned,
Passing reefer until the stoned moment is realized.
Yes, just sitting here looking at you,
I can tell,
You know exactly what you’re doing.

Premium Member Netherworlds In Balance

Take a daring deep dive five miles below
to the world's hidden dark bottom of the sea
where many Ethereal Snailfish lead lives
as the deepest living fish known to science.
A cosmos here on earth, you could not know
and one where few have ever seen or can go.
A place of no sun where life flourishes, thrives
surviving the black unknown forever night.

Time takes on new dimensions in this sphere,
coral species that live four thousand years!
Organics sink into the vast "Mud Plains",
are half as big as all lands above.
Apart from our terra firma, life lives
in two realms: one upper and one lower.

No wonder we see life in binary terms:
me and you, us and them, heaven and hell,
top and bottom, light and dark, white and black,
day and night, good and evil, up and down.
We shape the land and the land shapes us,
the seas have had a hand in shaping land.

Science findings in this deep sea netherworld
could make major differences in earth's lands.
From far away, shadows reveal the light
that will shape discovery beyond the sky.
If life exists down below with no sun,
it might survive in far off deep sea floors.
In humankind's epic search for life in space,
who would think that balance may lie beneath?

In the ecosystems of our ego minds,
be patient gardeners, one can find balance.
In the darkest depths of the Mariana Trench,
luminescent species flicker their light
while atop Everest, a too proud climber
raises a flag and celebrates his might.
We search the universe to find nature;
reach beyond self, be part of it - all worlds.

the difference. poof. and there. you are. and then. it happened. you're forceful. light. my force to write. a muse. but never forced me. to write. and "true" doesn't feel right. I write anyway. you're painful. I'm right. but rush away. the difference. and the distances. wrong. all wrong. purples. greens. blues. I'm very much apart of you. a part of you. I must part from you. bliss ruins all of me. your bliss. tastes sweet. i wonder if your embrace feels like Mahogany. if your eye gaze meeting mine feels like a symphony. tasting lilac, teal, and lime. move me. you are. poof. we could be. so in love. like morning doves. like red roses. with the sensations. the sincerity. my insecurities. your secrets. our vunerability. just pour into me. move me. I'm blossoming. blues, purples, greens. I won't live to learn to love you. in any other way that could last - than this. just five steps beyond here exists. you're surreal. so real. it all exists. and i feel. fulfilled. yes, a love. a desperation that paints purples. blues and greens. you carve out my smile. my river of well-being. move me. be. tall green trees. pieces of me. and blue skies. surrounded. and purple flowers. the differences. the distance. move me. you are. sublime. and scenic. and poof. I'm free. invincible. and delicate. intrigued. and invited. yet disguised. a love so deep. you are. me. poof. the difference. and there you are. no distance. we are happening all over again. but you are. oh, you are.
