Evildoers Afoot

Look in the chamberpot
There you will find
Some agent of darkness
The Foul Fiend left behind

The sordid element
The secrets they keep
And the dank crannies
Wherein they do creep

There is no sin so scarlet
That they will not partake
They would pawn their own mothers
For foul pharmacy's sake

Note that these scoundrels
Have fallen from grace
Even beasts of the field
Loath the sight of their face

Hail thee, dear friend!
And be Utmost alert
For drug fueled thieves
Lurk unseen in the dirt

And most of all, Attend!
To safekeep your very life
Madmen in the shadows
Delight in your strife

Coming Back Home

Called home my nomadic heart yearns to unpack scattered shadows,
Ornaments of blue Orion winds and souvenirs of summer place passions,
Mirrors found in attic reflections - refraction's hallmarks of nostalgia,
Image mirages of battered milestones shed like outgrown skin -
Nests of hidden pleas and prayers in locked trunks as abandoned minutes -
Garlands of tangled seasons and dried bouquets.

Home awaiting unspoken future days when trying on again
Outgrown masks of jeopardy discarded - crannies of warm hearths -
Making room for nascent triumphs to tickle laughter no longer stooping
Even as my nomad heart wanders only to return in magic primal circles.

Ah, to dust
To seek the nooks and crannies
Of mysteriously clustered history
To pursue the fleeing dust kittens
Cleanse the demon ‘neath the bed
Run a finger over the door jam

To peek into the silent corners
Of a creaky home’s history
Uncover faded initials
On jack knife carved hearts
And wonder

Ah, to dust
Knowing you will leave your trail
Atop a now too high to reach bookcase
Behind that always crooked picture frame
On the cover of a never finished book
Upon a phone that has forgotten how to ring

Ah, to dust
To wonder
Where it came from
                          Where it will go
                                             And why it always returns…

Moonstruck

'Wherever Love conquers men go bonkers.
this is a fact well known.'
'Ariosto' - 'Arry Oo? - 'Oh no, it's not you!
Didn't I give you the slip?
He was a great poet. It's high time you know it,
and don't interrupt me again.
Orlando Furioso' -' I'm not sure, I suppose so
the weather has been very strange.'
'Love drove him mad' - 'How very sad
a woman is always the cause.'
'Don't interrupt or I'll get very abrupt
and you don't want that to happen.
To find a relief, now this staggers belief,
his sanity was sealed in a bottle
to make matters worse, oh what a curse,
the bottle was not on this earth.
In fact it had lain on a cold lunar plain
among other things lost on our planet,
like lovers' tears and secret fears
and the big one that got away.
An English knight pitied his plight
and he undertook the journey,
and so at full throttle he flew to the bottle
on a fearsome and fiery dragon.
With his sanity back, Orlando lost track
of the lady who had excited his passion.
On earth reviled, things unwanted are piled
in lunar caverns and crannies.'
'That story was nice but one tale won't suffice
to meet my need to hear stories.'
'This coming June there's a flight to the moon
and you're going to be on it.'

Crannies in Time

Resting beneath a pile of silken scarves and soft kid gloves -
Hatboxes filled with old tweed caps, cuff links bearing long lost crests,
A leather box – a jewelry case – opened to reveal a ballerina’s spinning grace,
To release a mania of memories, popping up like popcorn, as if they waited
To jump out - surprise conspiring to astonish eyes of wonder;
Travelers in time, arms of welcome pointing to a portal for hearts returning
With startled souls among the murals painted on their walls in time indelible,
Revisit wrinkles in eternity where moments recline -
Retell events re-formed by memories cast in sterling,
Linked by silver circles showcasing milestones days, precocious pets,
Musicals with wishing wells, a lovers vow, frayed dancing shoes,
Milestone birthdays, skis for winter, umbrellas for a city clothed in rain,
Side by side with souvenirs, states with nicknames stamped on their backsides
Collections, a crowded patch of rambling flowers scampering up a garden wall
Poking through the tiny crannies left by minutes flying by in streamers flowing,
Daylight merging into starlight - midnight gliding past each dawn -
Captivating charms guarding sacred spaces where treasures abide
Now seen through cracks in time, amid the winds with hands of ice,
Hearts welcomed back to reflect in sanctuaries warm
With new eyes that once searched for ghosts of meaning –
Specters - understanding - come in focus.

Ciprofloxacin Hcl 500 Mg Remedied Urinary Tract Infection

CIPROFLOXACIN HCL 500 MG remedied urinary tract infection

No aversion nor embarrassment
admitting, divulging, and jumpstarting
poetic endeavor regarding yours truly
afflicted, blighted, and contracted
with urinary tract infection,
(though condition finds me
feeling pissed off),
whereby urination fraught with
painful burning, gouging,
and stinging sensation.

Aside from the aforementioned ailment
practically, nearly, nay already cured,
after taking bad medicine, I feel great,
but recognize necessity
to take full course
of poetically issued, incorporated,
and identified antibiotic
despite feeling more drowsy than usual.

Impossible mission scrambling,
rummaging, and traversing
complex edifice housing
nooks and crannies pinpointing
how I, albeit married (libido
long since took kamikaze nosedive -
most likely adverse side effect
courtesy countless medications
prescribed to alleviate the bane
of social anxiety, obsessive
compulsive disorder, palmar hyperhidrosis,
et alia) though celibate
became subjected to micturate
experienced problematic discharge
to take a wizz with difficulty and discomfort.

The miracle of modern medicine
(actually corroboration of many
intelligent people such as biochemists,
biomedical engineer, pharmaceutical scientists,
et cetera) nips in figurative bud
ailments of body, mind and spirit
without which yours truly
among untold other individuals
would be unable to function
close to their optimal level as possible.

Though long since averse
to the crass commercialization
of most holidays in general,
and Christmas in particular;
eons ago boyhood found me
unbounded, unrestrained, untethered,
et cetera with bounteous excitement
when December twenty fifth
approached then finally arrived
whereat I knew full well
bearer of various and sundry gifts
linkedin with mother reminding father
in quasi cryptic words scotch tape
and newspaper in such and such place.

At ripe old age
of three score plus three
orbitz around the nearest star
considerably less enthusiasm gushes forth
at clamoring to purchase
and/or receive presents,
but rather anonymous
zoological primate here
within apartment b44
simply wanted a hippopotamus
to appease the hidebound grinch.

The Pub rewrite

Bubbling burbling banter brimming from the bar

No sombre timbre just the tingling of folks mingling

Delightful pitter patter of insightful chitter chatter

Webbed blossom ebbed down dappled dimpled jar

Parched pagans perch in their lair a rare secular church

Trumpets tradition beacons blush.. echo embers of the past

Flames flickering strumpets cackling like sassy harridins

Classy cast of polished pewter & bravado of ballsy brass

Timeless games crackling with larking bickering larrikins

Wisps of whimsy waft across tobacco tinted tickled times

Smorgasbord horde quaffing quenching in crannies cavorting

Carousing castles sparkle canoodling too many rascal debacles

With adored nooks courting timber flanneled panels sporting

As sons then become dad..on the same pews with their lad

Lawyer betwixt a tyro…local employer..bumpkin on the giro

Museums of marvels.. hoodwink bores & dodgy metaphors

Higgledy piggledy tables graced stables of parables & fables

Laced with a lush house pour of moreish memories of before

Gracious & loquacious landladies & landlords near and far

Each a stellar story teller in the bar and in the cellar a star

Toast halcyon hostelries that boast such hallowed hosts

Who let us roam in our home from home we raise our jar

Big grin as we begin another weekend just staying in

That special space of friendly faces ..our third place

An Open Book

this poem explains the state i'm in

from humble beginnings to bitter end

haphazardly it might be a bit

but haphazardly is how i live

it's here to show you both my sides

from the heavy to the light

you'll have to wonder how i survive

or at least how i get by

painstakingly i'll add to it

all the crooks and crannies, every stitch

nothing will i dare omit

an open book i'll title it

it'll read just like a comedy

with it's share of tragedy in between

a real page turner for what it is

but that's just how my life is lived

i'll leave nothing out for you to guess

nothing more and nothing less

call the priest i must confess

for some of this they'll have my head

but after all is done and said

an open book i'll title it

Darkness and I

The thick darkness calls at me,
But what league do we have in common?
The heightened atmosphere beckons to me,
But my interest; moistured and forlorn.

The singing toads and howling crickets,
The berries and almonds speaking in tongues.
The bewitching owl got me in her thicket,
Now choked in the pleasantries of her throngs.

Grotesque shape salutes the nooks and crannies.
Now a scotting lizard later a stooping hunter.
My fear levitated from venus to other axis,
Before the ray of my lover glitters.

More fear, dreads did darkness lent me.
Till the longing lover defeated me.

Summer Hideaway

Do you remember when, we went away
       for summer holidays-----
             When days were long
             The sun never gone
          behind rain clouds
             as it seems today.
And always time in the sun to lay
  There were magic rock pools
  Nooks and crannies explored
           without tools
  Became hill forts to fight
             off secret foes
We won or lost without serious woes.
   Trees those mysteries we explored
       in wondering awe
   Never quite grasping the geometry
               we saw.
It fired our memories and twitched
               our mind
but what was it, we were meant to find??
