September's End

as the morning rose
charcoal feathery clouds
blended with the ebony backdrop
of night

the yellow shimmer
of the falcate moon
offered little light

the air was thick
with smokey white trails
that lifted from damp lawns

my mind drifted
like tires on asphalt
trying to remain grounded
on the roadway

another gray Monday
setting my mood
this last day of September

memories bled
less red than the edges
of these clouds
as the sun began her rise

my thoughts shifted
much like this day
life towards death
then back again

the pink splashes
in sun's wake
reminded me of you
and your wake

the air chilled me
like a kiss from cold lips
as they part from life

yet memories warmed me
like the touch of sun
as it beat down
from skies that now
match the blue of my own eyes

the clouds have all faded
much like life did
from eyes that closed
that final time

though the trees
are changing like the times
i see through the green
the orange, yellow, red
peeking through the edges
awaiting to take flight in the wind
and spiral down
grounded in death

the air is thick this morning
as i choke on tears held back
in remembering September again

Feelings Extinguished

This pain you live in
Is unmistakably so real
This torture you’re prone too
It kills me too
With every breathe you choke in
My heart pulses “No”
With every weakened bone
I shout, toss, and spin
But although that
You speak to me
With words, weary words, and gentle care
You speak of feelings you have
Kept Hidden for me
And I stop the screaming, the tossing, the breaking, the beating
I freeze
My sense of denial, of fear, pushes me back
But the other senses
The sense of conscience, of affection, of claim
Claiming to own a good heart
Claiming to know what to say
Claiming to know what to do
Assuming knowing where this goes
But those feelings, those vulnerable sensations
End up killing the people they own
Too great is not to be greater
But to be destroyed when becoming greatest
Regardless of the destruction those feelings are submitted into
They thrive to appear, to break surface
Will they turn into something beautiful?
Something alive and wistful
Or will they self-destruct because of other feelings?
Will they vanish into ample emptiness?
A squander of fire to be extinguished
These senses consume me, slay me silently
And time, seconds tick swiftly
Until I am bound to eternal silence
And unutterable misery
In a cage of impassive breathing
They drug me into.

I love when your eyes look into my body,
My body made just for you.
You love my name, my red, my dress,
And my body wants all of you too.

I love when you're grabbing both of my hips,
Tightly with both of your hands.
You dominate and pull me up to your face,
And I obey every single command.

And then that instant, when your warm wet mouth
Envelops my perfect pure nerve.
I explode when all of me goes into all of you,
Filling your entire reserve.

Now, that perfect moment straight after,
You tighten your grip and I choke.
And you gaze back through my empty body,
I'm inside you now, your bottle of coke.

'Tis I, your ruin ...
I, the scourge, unseen ... the "C" word
I am death's abettor, the bête noire
So do your worst, in my ruthless wake

The cold chaos of cells that rages rampant
Weaponizing blood and bone and marrow ... and breath
Seething untrammeled as the burn of abandon, afire
I play no favorites, I see no chalk or choice

Health is the meat of my prerogative, the blood of my intent
I strip vitality and strength from bones like a butcher
And hang them raw to be branded ... "terror"
I scrape beauty and flesh to maim motherhood, passion

I divest masculinity of its vital seed, choke the air from lungs, gasping
I ravage little lives before they begin, to glaze their sparkling eyes
I plunder and rape and kill in a thousand myriad fashions
One no less callous or malevolent than the other

And the only weapons you have to raise against me - your only hopes
Are near as vicious and unappeasable as I am, (smiling)
Oh, hear me and fear me, humankind ...
I am chasing, relentless ... your ruin.

Anticipation falls like leaves
From oak and maple who grieves
Losing their beautiful cloak
Winds come to steal like thieves

Chimneys warmed with rising smoke
Sure the weather will never choke
On the heat from glowing wood fires
Where trees turn to ash, going broke

Graceful thoughts pour out with desires
Filling minds with kindness which inspires
Rich and vibrant hues of scarlet and gold
Dropping from sleeping trees who expires

Sporting sweaters to save us from the cold
The sunshine smiles, so brilliant and bold
Assuring hearts that seasons must change
If we’re to experience the weather of old

November is filled with peace so strange
Voiced on the breeze on an exciting range
Laughing through the branches, so alive
Serenity so soothing I’d never, ever exchange

As Fall shadows hearts, enlivening so we thrive
Wonders so amazing whisper for me to strive
To be encouraged by the splendor of this time
Which colors the world in glories that will revive

Hope, faith and love in this season inspire a rhyme
Delighting me with joy so intense it could be a crime
Praising the Creator for His gift of seasons so sublime
They enlighten and brighten, heal the soul for all-time!

Pearls of Joy

The pure pleasure or the serene pain
That oozes helplessly out of the deeds honest
Leaves no burden , nor squeezing strain ;
The cordial words of solace are blest
And are duly prompted by the just mind

The pure joy of a dancing flower ,
The warm touch of the moderate sun
The sprinkling drizzles from the clouds that hover ,
Have no match for  the joy beyond fun ;
Enough and more, often choke the breath

An ignorant lie or manoeuvred gesture ,
A manifest design or clever artefact ,
Perhaps could never settle like the pearly moisture
On the lean grass or along a leafy tract
And instill keen delight in the wilderness .

Cemetery Tears

Cemetery tears
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire

A valiant tear of yesterday
A vale to dearly bear
Has brought me here today.
You told me how life
At the washing line
Would miscarry time on time
On how the soul of everyone
Would be lying cold under a stone.
A courageous mind you always implied
Which kept us going
For a long while .. till the time
That day your energy finished
Your surrender day
On that last adieu mile.
I never wanted it to happen
For you to lie here
In a place that maim's me
To choke on tears.

As day’s go by and hour’s dry
I weep for you everyday ..
Brace , you told me everyday ..
Just watch the line on silver cloud.

NOW …
My heart in memory
Those golden moment’s
Will never come to pass
Is why I’m standing here
In silent wish for you
To arise.

The Midnight Curriculum

The midnight bell chimed through
the empty halls.
Dust settled softly over trophies
on the walls.
Lockers slammed shut with a
metallic, sudden boom.
As freezing air flooded inside the
history room.

Footsteps echoed sharply down
the dim West Wing.
Through no one was there to hear
the sirens sing.
A phantom chalkboard wrote a
single name in red.
The roster of the students who
were long since dead.

I hid beneath the desk, my
breathing sharp and fast.
Trapped inside a prison built of a
horrific past.
The heavy smell of smoke began
to choke the air.
As phantom fire crackled wildly
down the stairs.

Then shadows stretched out from
the dark gymnasium floor.
And skeletal hands began to rattle
every door.
The guidance counselor's door
swung slowly, widely wide.
Revealing teeth and glowing eyes
that waited deep inside.

The hallway lengthened out into a
endless maze.
As glowing red eyes locked into my
terrified gaze.

Climbing waves crept ashore and stole our footsteps
yet prints went aslant, surrendered none to our
unbroken hearts in bottled notes cast adrift
          ~~boundless praised afar

Country road, a bit bumpy, grassy, pressed ground
yet spontaneous passion stays eternal
matching close limitless decorative spread
          ~~tough and tamed amour

Curtains flounce in the wake of teasing zephyrs
yet our infinite spirits perpetuates
as the energies overwhelm and control

yet unsung strength fills the bottomless inkwell
