school outing …

prep school day trip -
the Isabella Gardner Museum, Boston …
I round a corner inside,
a sunny courtyard to my left
ahead, an exquisite scalloped arch
sculpted columns on each end
and beyond, softly lit ...
- I gasp, air sucked from my lungs
in the literal sense
my hand clutches my chest,
knees wobbling ...
noticing, someone asks if I'm okay
"physically, yes ... thank you"
(when my breath finally returns)
blown as a mind can be, I'm transfixed
minutes pass, then hours ...
tranquil water, am I -
no ripples, no vacillations
no concern of what’s taking place around me
an entire multi-floor museum -
exceeding artistic genius on every wall
yet the bulk of my day is spent ... right there
entirely and utterly spellbound …
light, dance, music
romance, color, shadow, laughter -
every motion and emotion, churning
I can hear the guitars, the clack of her shoes
feel the heat of el club nocturna, pressing
mind spinning with the feigned haze of absinthe
the waft of cigar smoke and perfume
words stir deep inside me
wound in phrases I can not speak
phrases and fires unknown and unspoken …
and unquenched …
I am but a child -
in the presence of The Divine
frozen to my marrow by the bloom of
resplendent brilliance
my soul, a chaotic milieu of terrifying beauty
and all I can manage,
all I can do ...

is breathe.

* This happened when I was fourteen ... art became very real to me that day, as did the phrase "divine Inspiration", thanks to the painting above, by John Singer Sargent. If you've ever seen it in person, (or SO many others!), you know whereof I speak. (Above image is slightly compressed). *

Confusion

Confusion is the devil's greatest desire
For everyone should know that he is a liar
And as he goes about bewildering and perplexing
It is you who he is now vexing

Confusion being one of his sharpest tools
As he seeks out all the earthly souls of fools
Piercing right into the center of their minds
Making sure it's Gods Word that one never finds

Look at his great power in this day
Keeping you so busy that you have no time to pray
Keeping you from seeing what is really true
Why would you ever allow this confusion to act upon you

If you seek the Lord it is the Lord you shall find
And He will cleanse your chaotic and cluttered mind
Confusion has but not a chance
But only if you take this stance

The Elements

When we look into nature, we see beauty, and destruction
Peace, and chaos
Water
Can be a beautiful flowing stream
Or a raging waterfall
A gentle rain tapping on the window
Or a violent flood sweeping away the livelihoods of many
Fire
A dancing source of light and heat, used for centuries to guide our world
Or an out of control force of destruction
Taking everything in its path without mercy
Snow
Unique crystals falling from the sky, decorating the world with an icy white glaze
Or a blizzard
Trapping people in their homes, causing pain and chills to those who cannot escape its wrath
In the same way we have a choice everyday
Beautiful and peaceful
Or destructive and chaotic
Which will you choose to be?

Here lies a silver silence, hopelessly violent
embroidered in the corners of my lips,
Steady and stern standing on a steel of stillness,
Then, in a sudden sweep the soil begins its shift,
Why do you keep scaring off the sanctity of gravity?
The very pavement to my soles,
Why do the sounds of our thoughts enhance our virility?
Cause chaotic curiosities,
Why, in the mists of your eyes I feel the undiscovered dreams,
The opaque definition of what a silhouette of the sunsets mean
while a cluster of clouds swim amongst its rays,
Cruel conscience creeping through unopened spaces,
Revealing reasons why must these walls stand,
When they have begun to feel like the simple sands
softly dancing to the swirling sequence of the sea.
Show me the depths of the ocean,
Let the grimness of my heart wade through the gills of all your monsters,
Like a jellyfish in a pile of predators.
Pierce , pin , push or perhaps pull,
Have all and more verbs take their motions onto me,
kindly construct a hidden infirmary for the velocity of what may progress,
Set an anchor through my ribs and sail away to the divine infinite firmament.

The puzzle of my hallow poetry
all the words a jumble
chaotic, formless, scrambled
an uproar unfathomable.

Deep are the caves perpetual I fall
searching for words eternal
poetry unfading and immortal.

Endless as the stars that glow,
and boundless as the ocean blue;
in a shambles, in a muddle,
until, the unveiling of the veil.

Despite the cacophony, I search
through the bedlam of words colliding.

And then, an apocalypse epiphany
the unfolding of a vision uncloaked
it was hiding down deep within
and now have spiraled up.

Endless as the stars that glow,
and boundless as the ocean blue;
in a shambles, in a muddle,
until, the unveiling of the veil.

I write with a madness and a fever
hysteria erupts in my mind
my thoughts a whirlwind of ideas.

Swirls of phrases multi-hued
a kaleidoscope psychedelic on paper
the pieces of my puzzle falling together
everlasting and everlasting.

Endless as the stars that glow,
and boundless as the ocean blue;
in a shambles, in a muddle,
until, the unveiling of the veil.

Endless as the stars that glow,
and boundless as the ocean blue, ocean blue, ocean blue . . .

Temptation pulls us all into sin with gravity force
Wading in with human desires sweet sugar coating gloss

Strengths are nurtured and grown from our creator's breath of light
Filtering through densely chaotic thoughts stony cold walls

Snowdrops open their blossoms stretching a smile to your spring
Sprouting faith, hope, love and luck from a four-leaf white clover

Daffodils dance with a twirl around a twilight star breeze
Floating around magical melodies of twin flames spark

Shimmering dusk and dawn of your soul commanding presence
Soaring light chestnut brown kestrel swooping down in hunger

Low down in the horizon gracious mother of the rose
Sweet pleasant fragrance sets sail on the bitter winds of change

Queen of the evening sky you stand out a beautiful face
Radiating happiness amidst the flurries of rain

Braised beef cheeks in wine
with deep-fried cauliflower
with a honey mambo sauce
was my companion that
evening. The salad which
Was enough to make me
hungry cornered me, I made
room for the entree. Warmed
Over apple pie and icecream
made me happy. I knew I would
exercise before I was to sleep
so I looked to a freind to
accompany me. It ended up
being three of us. Two of us
Knew each other well, the other
was someone we found cool
but if you knew him you'd understand
why people could not like him.
It being Friday I wanted to get to bed
By 11:00, they wanted to party.
All I had were the drawers on my back
and these things I borrowed from
My Nookie-pal. I was coaxed into going
to a club, sumware were most normal
guys would be shamed to be, but
this night provide a need to be care free.
I called me woman freind(165 miles away)
and acted like I was in a motel and ready
to sleep, told her about the dryness of the he area were I was, felt bad about lying to her but
but I needed some excitement. Me ngped ah little bit, company was promising so I let
the evening have its way with me.A single man
Is a target for those who chose to label him. A man himself is undermined to satisfy the need
for those who create situations so they can
get on there stomp and preach. Man with freind my Woman knew what I was doing, and she probably cause the Moon Chaotic tonight! Gotta find away to make it up to her, these fools I'm with, bet-not let know, what's a Mein be doing! She thanks I wiff Beso and Bronze reheating for me hat Orchastrated gig, Gheezy got my back, dough!

Cogwheel Ballet

Hot
Humid
New York summer
Industrial commerce 24/7

Textile scents of humid wool
Acerbic edge of chemical dyes
Permeating wood and air
Thick oily lubricants
Layered enslavement
Nowhere to escape
A century’s senses imprisoned

Drawing on all he has…

One work-for-rent dreamer
Of agile body
Holds forth
Awaiting his nightly concession
His arabesque of glee

2 AM break
The precious pause for moonlight’s silver
Thrusting its presence through
Floor to ceiling windows
Refracting off bare metal frames
Arcing visual life across the radiators
Curling over his labor station
Arcing across planked floor
His rough hewn dance surface
Awaiting…

From floors below
Dissonant seduction begins
Printing presses come alive
Rhythmic noise
Machinery’s first chaotic movement
Changing its accelerated pace
Into allegro’s process
Then back to a scherzo finish
The imaginative sounds
Many dismiss as noise
Even as others hear music

This crescendo of background rumble
Joined by circular rises and falls
Sustains the dancer’s cocoon
His undaunted confidence
In iron cogs gnashing
Creaking gears kissing
Turning belts lathering
Pistons rising
Falling
Pounding energy
Echoing its creation to the imagination above

Gracefully
He moves about the floor
Contorting his body
Bending into pain
Releasing into pleasure

But

Nightly sensations end too soon
Midnight shift perks infrequent
Labor’s drudgery winning
Rendering body vapid
By morning’s sunrise

Squinting at daylight

Infused with a Spartan workout
Of fantasized dream movements
Between lifting warehouse containers
His aching arms of no-questions-asked effort
Hang limp beside legs often of steel
Now mere precarious stilts to make it home

Here I stand once again, in a temporary state of
lucidity.
vivid, and clear Is this mental panoramic vista
So I know I have times before been in this vascinity
Of this chaotic interlude in my minds.hurricane,
vortex, cypher, twister.

Forever debating rather I'm deep n Still water
If I'm lost in ever thought engaging rebuttal
Maybe I'm not that far off Just little out of order
I'm I really this soulful or am I squatting in a puddle?

Have I loved and lost or Just lost love
I ran with the ball or was I Just knocked down
I believe in righteousness, I see nothing above
Why do we swim Destin to drown?

Why Do we give are life's away
Chasing things That once Were free
How can heiarchy coexist with a better day
Why do we all know, but refuse to see?

When did we become fearful silent peaple
Why did we take the volume of are voice down
Why is their certain types for certain steeples
When did we decide to let this stick around.

When did Americans become afraid to put the foot
down.
and sale out our ethics for are children's futures
Only to be made a fool with earnings took and worked
till we are put in the ground
Since when are we tourist in corporate cultures.

Are we now men instead of American
Are we on the same team on common land
Anser with honesty and hear your seraphim
And then tell yourself the truth of the Lamb.

Black Friday Turned Blue-Political Limericks

For four years I've longed to shout 'Adios!'
It's time for you to go, Donald J. Gross
Shove those burgers down, Chubs
Play with your balls and clubs
You're crude, belligerent and bellicose

Anderson called you an obese turtle
Who'd never admit you need a girdle
Your offspring are all jerks
In the west wing they lurk
Too bad your little swimmers were fertile

Eighteen thousand a month for orange hair!
While poor Americans have nothing to spare
You never gave a damn
Leave the White House...SCRAM
Get your butt off the oval office chair

A greedy, selfish beast, to say the least
Playing footsie with those in the mideast
Buddies with Kim Jong
That's all kinds of wrong
And your affair with Putin is a love feast

Questions asked of you...falsehoods you answer
You're not a hoofer, like Santa's Prancer
I hate your red ties
And your horrid lies
Here's a truth...you're a terrible dancer!

Your claim to fame? A one-term president
Mock the Constitution; a dissident
So many are inspired
To yell out, "You're fired!"
No covid warning? What selfish intent!

What a chaotic mess you leave in your wake
Those who praise you have made a big mistake
Our Democracy, you scorn
But you jape about p o r n
You've been a bogus President...a fake!

We the people, hate how you whine and pout
and the way your mouth pooches like a trout
A lunatic POTUS
Be gone with the FLOTUS
Americans have signaled that you've struck out
