Shannon watched a royal wedding
one afternoon on the TV,
the flowers, coaches, and garlands,
all the pomp and majesty,
the fancy gowns and ornate hats,
black-tie suits that fit handsomely,
noble steeds pulling carriages,
in her minds arose fantasies…
She saw herself in a ballroom
twirling ’round her paramour,
taking the hand of her suave prince,
in the arch of a gothic door,
cruising the warm Riviera
in a yacht that would leave most floored,
closets full of lovely dresses,
rows of the fanciest shoes galore.
She dreamed of sprawling palaces,
of servant to see to her whims,
four-poster bed, with chandelier,
to lie down and make love to him,
a gilded, bulging treasury,
gold and silver and jewels within;
all girls want to be princesses,
the thought of it still made her grin.
But then she recalled another
prince who had gone on a talk show,
airing all the dirty laundry,
sought to lay his family low,
and another caught cheating with
a stewardess while on the go,
the tabloids found out, ran wild,
until folks were all in the know.
She recalled the older prince who
folks said was a pedophile,
and how it all had been hushed up,
elites don’t like to stand trial,
and she saw how they lived planned lives,
schedules just weren’t her style,
and travelling without her kids,
not seeing them for long whiles?
It make her look out to the den,
on the couch slept her husband, Stan,
in his arms snoozed little Carmen;
as a father, none were more grand,
he worked, he sweat, he came off rough,
but always by her did he stand,
what need had Shannon of princes
when she’d landed herself a man.
“Say goodnight, Gracie, say goodnight George.”
—Burns and Allen Show 1950-1958
Say Goodnight Gracie
found it
it was snowing
on the sleeves
of Buffalo
i’m a Winter gal
except for
my old gal bones
that freeze
euphoric
over flakes that fall
zero
repeat zero
last year
even Christmas
in Minnesota
this Bills team
might go go go
straight
to the Superbowl
and win win win
our family dream
sure
would
put a smile
on the face of my Dad
make my sister extra crazy
my other sibs
would be hanging from the chandelier
as I turned out the light
to watch it snow snow snow
Say goodnight, Gracie…
for one must
after blowing off the lid
the practical
blow the candles out
and eat the cake
but make no mistake
her screams linger
let it snow snow snow
down my sleeves
make my day
please
Looking through a magical dewdrop we now see an enchanted
Chandelier, liquid-sparkling pure, where a mystical quicksilver
Mirrors a living-moonlight reflection of a thousand radiant stars.
These stars are heavenly focus points that reflect the celestial
Magnificence of Almighty God’s prescient intention, whereby all
Cosmic music forms a clockwork of ticks-tocks of a certain vision.
This vision streams and sounds throughout the cosmos entire on
Star beams with the dimension, power, and force of Almighty God,
Whilst casting a glorious panoply of light that illuminates the darkness.
The reach of God’s eternal light into this deep-dark void of the cosmos
Is known as “The Pilgrim’s Ghost of a Thousand Heavenly Dreams” that
Has an undeniable metaphorical place in mankind’s collective psyche.
This ethereal, eternal ghost by God’s own direction on our mortal Earth,
Allows for mankind’s curious interest in exploring the deepest-darkest
Crevasses of the oceans and the silent sacred secrets of the cosmos itself.
This ethereal, eternal ghost as resident in mankind’s consciousness fuels
Man’s desire, as divinely inspired, to see ourselves as a mirror-image of God
Himself, fulfilling God’s desire that our souls shall ascend one day to Heaven.

sonnet
While dreaming of my childhood ocean ties,
mem'ry's chandelier sheds light, somewhat eclipsed.
The essence of the salt still stings my eyes;
the rusty taste of iron hangs on my lips.
The ocean’s fragrant spray not quite so fair
as I recall; it makes me think of death.
Many a moon has set since I was there;
destiny speaks to me - my own last breath.
The ocean’s soft waves bring dulcet mem’ries,
gran-mama’s silk scarf brushing ‘gainst my face.
Turbulent storms always left me on my knees
under safe precipice back of our place.
It is there my dreams rest as I stand by;
it’s there I shall be buried when I die.

half-a-face enclos’d in disharmony,
an anti-bliss b’low with blister’d stains.
breaths like steam, seal soak’d
in leather, adorn’d in porcelain.
a face his mother disdain’d.
his image as if twins, one perfect
the other dark soul’d, to the devil yet.
but Christine, lifting fear from her countenance,
braves to brace both palms against his cheeks.
they feel so warm, tender, soft.
they release true love at last.
not the romantic kind
but kindness, a shock
that restarts his heart.
a black rose falls
for a second time,
not in jealousy,
not in bitterness,
not wearing hatred.
the black rose falls onto new snow.
a monster becomes a man.
his heart feels the dagger,
kills his doppelgänger.
he lets her go.
she returns his ring.
he lets her go again.
tears and shatter’d glass
release him once again into the cruel world.
we don’t know where he hides
but a black rose adorn’d
with a wedding ring
appears at her gravestone.
his undying love let her live her life.
he paid homage in the shadows
and perhaps in life after death
he would find one friend.
his opera of romance and terror
ended the night of the swinging chandelier,
the stoking of the flames of hell, where’d
the devil’s horns and tail paid him homage.
recovery of rebirth —
the phantom stirs the lake
in his solitary boat,
no longer afraid of his reflection,
perfection was encased in palms
and lips so pure
and God Himself kissed his forehead.
Welcome son.

of dirty dinner plates
that were not cleaned
from last night
and this is not
my best poem,
my son
reminds me,
that was a similar theme
from years ago
she was me
cleaning dishes at the sink
and hoping to see
a cardinal up close
before the moon
took over the sky
I need to feel
warm water
on my hands
because it calms
my restless soul
I need to feel
I will admire myself
and my mother
more than any man
ever will
At this time, every spring
new things are born,
everyday
that I will never know about
including the birds
that will sing next spring
during my runs I fit in
between my son's sports
events and lesson plans
that make a mockery
of life
Soap and water
make bubbles
on the glass dishes
and my wedding plates
are still my favorite
A bird, drawn by an artist
still makes me smile when I stack them
silently, after the sun went down
in her final colors
I smell tangerine
and lemon grass
in the diffuser
next to the sink
and Beethoven
hovers on apple music
between adagios
while I sway under
a cheap chandelier
I didn't pick
when we bought
this house
Hands are holding
dishes and dreams
while dancing
of better days
and cleaner
kitchens
Flickering light of
chandelier dims,
timid blinks
become audacious,
fragrant whispers
intermingle in crevices,
fingers orchestrate
enchanting invites,
blazing a mystic
smoke that escapes,
vents of love
in raging storms
of night,
to envelope mists
of hushed union,
beads of Aurora
sparkle at dawn

She’s shabby chic, a bedroom chair said at the recycled furniture fair.
They were speaking of Violet, and it hurt her feelings.
“You mean shabby all over!” a mirror said to a chandelier.
The tent shook with all of their laughter; Violet felt ashamed.
Someone purchased her and stripped her paints off.
She felt naked and vulnerable; even though she was alone.
Don’t worry, the designer told her. You are going to be beautiful.
She trusted Crystin, the designer; she was talkative and fun.
Crystin worked on Violet for over eight months.
At the end, she was incredibly beautiful; outstandingly gorgeous.
Violet could not look in the mirror; she felt it was too vain.
Because she kept saying “you’re gorgeous!” every time.
At the next fair, Violet was sold to another designer for two thousand.
The mirror and the chandelier were irritated; they had not been sold.
Violet decided to not make fun of them or hurt their feelings though.
Because she was too beautiful to be shabby in any way.
Fear does appear might be the last tier of Ben’s career
Not after Ashes nadir but dafter going out for a beer
Pundits in press pulpits confess we should be severe
Rafter of Puritans cheer stress ECB do make it clear
Fans feast on our beast from the North East a panacea
Won't forget the reset no more regret Bazball engineer
Our brigadier bringing up the rear all singing pioneer
Our white knight up for the fight bright light chandelier
Tarnished but varnished players’ peer friend puppeteer
Plucking for our swashbuckling and rucking buccaneer
Scaling new heights orienteer & trend bucking cavalier
Our bombastic and iconoclastic fantastic bombardier
Not chipper our ripper skipper do hold dear will be a tear
Done like a kipper for being a sipper now team can’t steer
For argy bargy with rugger bugger nipper who did sneer
Wokery no is jiggery pokery by a seedier media profiteer
We're getting a clue there maybe a coup is all very qu*er
Fans ire spiking as us all forever liking that Viking veneer
Baz and Key let Ben be for it is his team to commandeer
A Prince didn’t always convince still wince at Shoaib Bashir
Out too late mate no Cinderella slipper so fall on your spear
Not for the Ashes clashes nadir but lashes for a mere beer
Souvenir in cellar is this the end of great fella’s stellar career?
The sun is up the sky is blue today is beautiful and so are you
inside this April morn, the angels are sending you kisses
that you don't have to earn...
The day has risen dawn is here, bright lit like God's chandelier
within your heart there is a prayer , ready for the blare
you just have to say it !
The sun is yours, claim it as your own your not alone
surrounded by His light be all that you can be
take your life and live it my friend !
The day is long but it can be strong if you belong
take my hand and we are half way there
smile ! for God made you this way !
Heh !
