The Church

THE CHURCH

History always does repeats itself in an unexpected manner
This dates far back to the Israelites in the wilderness God fed with manna
After six hundred years since we heard a pope resigned
This year brings back the history; The Pope unexpectedly resigned
Whatever may be the reason, everybody has personal divergent opinions
Last time we checked, he was the head of Catholic faithful numbering 1.3 billion.

Even if all should pass away with the doctrine of the church gone
Christianity will always forever remain the hand-work of our God
Different things are bound to always happen that many do not expect
God will forsake his church, that’s one thing many ought not to expect
The key to heaven given to peter does not have a duplicate unlike normal key
In times of tribulation and confusion one thing is for sure; Jesus is the only key.

There is freedom of religion as embedded in the constitution
What happens when the church becomes a center of prostitution?
Too many countless churches; may be what Jesus Had was last lunch
No matter what the constitution constitutes; in the beginning there was one church
What happened to the one church? Nobody cares to ask that rhetorical question
All said and done; do we serve the same God? That’s all to this rhetorical question.

Premium Member Oh, Come To The Waters

As a Roman Catholic child I was taught,
    by nuns to come to the waters;
that wealth was not happiness,
      nor was a new car,
or huge house or fancy clothes !

My life has not been easy to endure,
    full of tragedy and heartache;
but always God speaks to me,
      Jesus holds my hand,
and the Holy Spirit gives me courage !

I try to be courageous in this life given,
      to do whatever is asked of me;
coming to the waters of the Lord,
    I drink from the coolness,
it fills me with serene tranquility !

The Lord says tell the evil to change their ways,
      to turn to faith to seek help;
to drink from the waters of faith,
       to believe, to accept, to change
and they too can be courageous !

When I go out in nature I see the Lord's work,
      the trees growing, the blue skies;
the sun, moon, and flowers blooming,
    everything on earth is the Lord's will,
and he asks so little in return !

From Across

Eventually we’re all to know…
From across the plains of sub.lime
A message came in numbers to rhyme
Sharing tales from long ago
Tellings of a temple said to know
Energy is found deep inside snow
Space is the Time that turns to One
Time is the place that comes undone
We’re face to face in eyes of the sun.

R.C. Christian…
Roman Catholic Christians
Lead by the Pope are billions
Mysterious name on a tablet
Crossed my eyes you can bet
Center erected on a date of note
Two days prior was the equinox
1980 plus a Thirty Three
Gives a year on the One to be
1980 minus Thirty Three
Was a RoseWell landing
On the desert Sea.
A burning bush of reality
Dead sea scrolls and the MiBs… ;)~

To Find Starlight Dig In Mud

when he spoke
words broke like glass between his teeth
14 minutes past 8PM 7 weeks after the red river
in his brain ran almost dry
he the acidic and sullen shadow of his youth
turned to me
(one side of his face a landslide of flesh
frozen into freefall
thus i won't mimic the inarticulate sound of it)

look after your mother

and my ten year old self nodding
wishing i were not there

then she who had married this man to protect her
plus one boychild from a condemning Catholic family
and a rabid priesthood
having thus become a widow at 37
being only 5 feet high in her pumps
also as slim as a whippet

turned to drink dying quickly of a gastric ulcer
never mind her failing liver
no wonder

i turned out more angular then an open razor
biting every hand that fed body and mind
thinking that same hand would one day turn against me
as it usually did
but i unable to stop my breakneck race to personal destruction

until poetry found me wandering a bitter earth
it entering my soul one turbulent night wailing like
a hungry infant which i fed and carried for years
not knowing i needed it much more than it needed me
and so

we ate broken glass together until

words bled into red flowers floating upon a river
that flowed through my brain

Premium Member Three Irishmen

Three Irishmen by a window in stare
At a building just over there
From their heads their eyes pop
Their mouths all agog
So close they all are to swear

"Would you look at that!" the first Irishman says
"I've never seen this in all my days"
The Methodist Pastor so near
Into the building disappears
"I don't think this is the place where he prays"

No sooner are the words from his lips
When a Rabbi appears from the slips
With a quick look around
He disappears without sound
From his cassock, they see is a whip

Lost for words so agape they now see
Their Catholic Priest in front of them three
With a knock on the door
Like he's done this before
Appears not a total mystery

"Ah, now dat's sad." says the third Irishman
"As usual they've allowed him to go in
"One of da girls must have died"
It's why they let him inside
Be Jesus, it's a brothel, he's never to sin

In Other Words Part 2

9 years later

I got a call the other day from a good old friend of mine
The one lost in his way who had that infamous last line
Yeah we had always kept in touch he is a good friend indeed
But what I saw in him was such that he had the same need

We came from the same neighborhood and Catholic school
And we were usually up to no good because we we're cool
But life quickly continues but like I said, we kept in touch
Keeping up with old news and religious arguments as such

I never thought he heard a word when I got one in edge wise
And the things that I heard were all the things that I despise
There was no sign, nothing! but My Lord never disappoints
I heard all the Angels sing when a new child He Anoints

In answering that call that day I heard a completely new voice
Someone who started finding his way as my heart began to rejoice
Oh sure it is just the beginning but such a good start has he gotten
With any of His lost child's sinning, Our Lord has already forgotten

In other words, don't listen to what they tell you
Do what God tells you to do.

curlicues perhaps
the Catholic nun
wouldn’t let me engage
in penmanship shape
“shape up, sit straight!!”
yet the ancients
would whirligig
with their featherings
fill up the page
with their zorro-like signature
tap-tap-tap
the teacher’s brought me back
to life, to engage
in this ((yawn)) bor…ing
admonish the swording
don’t let me squander her time
keep in step with the four wall attack
windows of daydreams grow black
march march march
in two straight Madeline-s
the feather tickles my digits
my mind metamorphic
the rhymes fantastic
tap-tap-tap
this time near my ear
the fearsome whip
that steers me
into correction
dear nun’s satisfaction
i’ll get an A
in penmanship
but conduct -
can’t shut me up

Premium Member My Italian Family

If it had been up to me I'd have chosen an Italian family.
I crave their warmth and affection, no snide judgment and rejection,
an Italian family.
We'd live by the sea. Aunts and Uncles, Grandmas too, lots of hands
to cook for you, an Italian family.
The women are beautiful as can be, their skin gets dark so naturally,
an Italian family.
Aunt Leona, Uncle Lou, so much family there for you, an Italian family.
We'd be Catholic no doubt, open hearted and devout, an Italian family.
Some times emotions might flare but our love would permeate the air,
an Italian family.
It's rather late now for me and this is just a fantasy, my Italian family.

A Life Transformed: An Ode to JohnPaul

From childhood’s roughened soil, where tender dreams sprout,
Where parental care was scarce and comfort stood apart,
You learnt to make your wounded past a furnace for your heart,
And fashioned strength from suffering, resilience from each scar;
No bitterness could chain your soul, no hardship halt your stride,
You walked beyond the darkness with determination as your guide.

You entered life’s long marketplace, a waiter first in trade,
Serving with humility and diligence, while greater dreams were made;
Through sleepless nights and patient hands, your enterprise took flight,
Your deams rose from modest work to venture bold and bright;
With dedication as your creed and hard work as your oar,
You proved that humble beginnings can open destiny’s door.

From quiet Catholic worshipper, beneath the sacred light,
You heard a deeper summons calling you from height to height;
The servant grew a shepherd, and the shepherd learned to lead,
Till senior pastor stood your name, crowned not with pride but creed;
You bore the Cross with steadfast faith, compassion, truth and grace,
And made your pulpit more than words but a refuge for the lost and broken race.

Your hands were open fountains where the weary found grace,
You gave with love and tenderness, and sowed the seeds of peace;
For strangers and for neighbours, your compassion knew no wall,
The poor, the vulnerable, the broken heart — you made room for all;
You taught through deeds that giving is love made visible and true,
And many lives remember still the kindness found in you.

And now the house is hushed; your absence fills the air,
A silence heavy with the love that once was gathered there;
We mourn the voice, the hands, the heart that gave so much away,
Yet bless the precious gift of you, though tears attend this day.
Death may claim your breath JP, but never what you gave
Your faith, your love, your noble works shall live beyond the grave.
