Loneliness of Gray
by Odin Roark
Could It Be…
The mirror by which we see ourselves
This captive freedom of art in all of us
This necessity to communicate
Desire to become
Is but destiny’s
Loneliness of Gray
For if
As in physics
The typical complementary colors
Blue and yellow
Red and green
Passion's mainstay
When mixed
Yield gray
Then why
When one’s being
Claims gray
Must disappointment ensue
When there is such empirical truth at hand
When there is no opposite for gray
As it is its own opposite
It’s own quintessential purity
Of emotion’s blend
why
Yes
Some would say
The artist’s mind lives unique perceptions
Available to all
Yet determined by most
As out of reach
Few
Accept this fourth dimension
Others reject
Where hands and feet
Colors and viewpoint
Change about
Inviting the dual organs
Nostrils
Ears
Eyes
To express like colors
Embracing opposites
Allowing vocal cords of multiple mode
To render art’s communication
Imagination’s reverse tongue
Creativity’s spoken proclivity
To forever accept extremities of the mind
As wonderment
As living
Ever notice
How simple the artists’ walk
It appears to be on whatever surface
Imagination might volunteer
Be it floor
Path
Greensward
Or bomb-rutted road
Where surfaces creatively experienced
Reveal a virtually abstract pressure-balancing of gravity
Requiring little of tactile distinctiveness
But merely an accommodation
Today’s levitational force
Accomplishing needed transfers of altitude
Where the climbing of stairs
But a walk up from lower levels of existence
To higher realms of selection
To the Artist
Passage from one scene to another
Needn’t be a factor
Rather trust in gliding
Where shadow and blurred focus
Claim one’s mingled curiosity
Into a chosen whole
Where much of vision
Voids transient objects
Ambiguous appearances like
Furniture
Or details of vegetation
Seeking instead
A diffuse lighting of every scene
Rendering the scheme of reversed colors and texture
Bright red grass
Yellow sky
A conundrum of black and gray cloud-forms
Down to the white tree-trunks
Green brick walls
Embracing
A Lovingly
Angelical grotesquerie
Such reveals one’s essence
One’s creation
One’s smile at chance
Depending on how
The mirror might be hanging
I challenge you to a rhetorical
to prove me wrong else be unconventional
‘bout a problem that’s gone systematical
everyone’s so radical and cynical
once burnt all swear to now be rational
petrified to be poetical and get physical
relationships always problematical
they start off superficial hardly practical
usually nonsensical and contradictional
end up analytical emotional or psychological
enigmatical fanatical or plain lethargical
sometimes as wild as satanical
yet sure enough it’s almost typical
it’s really absurdly comical
the inevitable becomes the eventual
you go and fall and it’s unconditional
starts off all angelical and sensational
turns out illogical and territorial
often becomes tyrannical
immoral and unethical
then cryptical and diabolical
there has to be something remedial
it’s just too tragical
how we now prefer to be online virtual
we might as well be asexual
because there’s no sense being sensual
we’re all too freak’n skeptical
to believe in the magical and supernatural
do you have a comeback what’s in your arsenal
or are you just too visceral
or too darn busy being metaphysical

I’ve walked too long
Through darkened allies
I’ve breathed the smoke
Of hell’s scorn and fury
My anger infinite
Now finite
Through his presence
I hear the birds chirp
Golden nests strung
Orchids’ petals
Morning dew fragrance
Through his presence
Love begins to paint
A picture
Red roses
And streams and brooks
And belongings unaltered
Through his presence
Oak wood creaks
Arms outstretched
Kisses
So bliss
The beginning to
Heritage, family trees
Peaceful tides
Through his presence
Winter’s kisses are lighter
Autumn’s leaves blush brighter
Spring’s birth comings angelical
Summer’s sun filled rays
Shine right through my soul
Through his presence
Like you, I am too clear to be seen.
Blink back if you see me.
Just maybe
I live in that star named Sol,
live as a bright beam
that you project.
Maybe you see me
from your dark planet?
Flicker in that darkness
if you understand.
You are that light beam.
Smile if you realize this.
“Joyful are the ones
that are a light unto themselves.”
Twitch an eyebrow
if you can hear.
That blue and green earth
has no light of its own
only souls make light.
Signal me
with your angelical
laughter lines
if you know this.
This sun
that I look from
will die,
but not you.
Nod if you are awake and
aware.
Is a person just man, woman or child?
Is not each person a costly treasure?
Should definition of person so mild?
Should not it exceed the common measure?
Person is living-human, could I say?
A precise character of life-drama,
With rise-fall amalgam fully alive,
Physique and psyche perform perfect play;
Soul enacts, sometimes, dull melodrama;
All-in-one cell, exuberantly thrive...!
Like molded pitcher is blend of the earth,
Person is a soul-mind-body mixture;
Through a magnanimously vibrant birth,
Divinity has made human fixture;
Oh! The persona form and appearance,
Entity with earth-ethereal mold,
Isn not each person an institution?
Pure self flowing in flawless coherence,
In thoughts and words perpetually bold,
Each person is - cosmic constitution...!
Person is an encyclopedia,
Composite of characteristics core;
Chameleon-like! Changes media!
Consciously, often, goodness does ignore;
Fierce, fiery, fervid, fervent, fertile, free,
Compassionate, care-filled, charismatic,
Person is heavenly! Angelical!
Divine dictum the person does agree,
Howsoever inwardly phlegmatic,
Wisdom and knowledge, within, helical...!!!

Theme: Person
If carelessly, we lose the ethereal things we value,
what other treasures might we then forsake?"
~ Quote by poet
I will always hold dear to my heart, ethereal things,
love letters, written and received, feathered wings.
Poems I've penned about castles within fantasy realms,
and the fragile seedlings from a grove of ancient elms.
There's my mother's yellowed Alencon lace wedding veil.
Carefully, I must handle it, now since it's become frail.
A diary of dreams I've had, those I never want to forget,
songs that my love and I shared. Losing them, I'd regret.
What could be more Angelical than an infant sleeping?
Memories of such ethereal things are worth safe keeping.
I treasure dried roses because it's such an exotic flower,
and time left of living, when it's measured by the hour.
Friendships that for whatever forgotten reason have been lost.
Sorrow for unfinished poems that never should've been tossed.
I will cling to good reveries that live in my heart forever.
It's an undertaking worth the crusade; a satisfying endeavor.
roses and roses around
unveiling scarlet drops
echoing voices where
raindrops fall
a rally of imperfection
painted into ..
tapped touches
sudden whirling whispers
secretively drew blood
prickly feistiness thriving in
haze spun surroundings..
twinkling doves suffocating in
an angelical sisyphus halo
tender moonlight bringing
an eunoia swiftest remnant
nemesis against armies
of withering shadows..
ebullient blooming daises
manipulating fluorescent beauties
with a frantic fabricated aurora
in a frantic peony mixture
luxurious mystery somehow
reminiscing rumbling
engraved doom..
aroused slithering vines
piercing whilst communicating
spitting needles
crystalline skies snickering
above lands full of
pitiful peonies..
but..
sparkling flutter butterflies
once whispered to me
a soft hymn lullaby;
when ethereality our nature
becomes brutal uncomforting rays
whilst enchanting asters
disguise hiding the
unavailing daises ..
stars, dimmed
dwelling in perpetual
solitary cycles shewing
forth agony in pitfalls of clouds..
fragile sagacity dandelions
parched evermore
darkness grasped a bud
n plucked it from weary soils..
shall it come a time
to flee
News was flashed of the immaculate birth
It happened on the night before Christmas
God graciously gifted His Son to earth.
The sky became an angelical mass
As hosts of Angels embellished the night
It happened on the night before Christmas.
The Star of Wonder brought forth a bright light
Shepherds arose from watching o’er their flock
As hosts of Angels embellished the night.
In Mary’s arms little Jesus would rock
Having arrived to angelic fanfare
Shepherds arose from watching o'er their flock.
Sent to Mary and Joseph's precious care
Through His Son God's voice would be heard, hearts stirred
Having arrived to angelic fanfare.
The whole world rejoiced with celestial mirth
News was flashed of the immaculate birth
Through His Son God's voice would be heard, hearts stirred
God graciously gifted His Son to earth.
