Yo Adrian

Yo Adrian
Hey yo, sometimes you have limon friends and
Sometimes you have yo yo friends.
Hey yo, I’m dumb and you're shy.
I can take you downtown to have some pie.
Hey yo, I should have broken your thumb.
 I got a locker and I’m a boxer; I’m a bum.
Hey yo, how do you spell Del Rio?
Look it up in the dictionary Rock. Yo.
I never asked you to stop being a woman.
So don’t ask me to stop being a man.
Hey yo Adrian, go fix the meat.
I’m going to finish my work out and drink some coffee.
I like black, I have a black hat,
 And a black jacket.
Mick, why do I have to chase a chicken?
Because you're going to eat lightning and crap thunder. O.K. kid?
Yo Adrian, I won the belt. I did it.
I can take you ice skating. I dig it.
Maybe this weekend I can take you to the zoo.
Maybe I can make some turtle soup.
After 10 years you drop by to help me!
Hey yo, me and Apollo Creed are homies.
Yo Adrian, why do cows wear bells?
Because their horns don’t work. Get it?
Thank you for getting my dog back Bitkis.
You were always in the ring with me, And I still love ya.

Afternoon Snowstorm in January
David J Walker

What else would I dream about
 in January
When the chill is enough to kill
		All incentive
And the north wind huffs its wicked breath
		In a cruel Laugh

What else would I dream about except
a certain day in a
Far away June
The 10 O’clock sun blazing its tune to
The roar of the lawnmowers
		Joining the song
Shorts and a t-shirt is all we had on
And new flip flops that knew
to keep time all along
the sweet smell of fresh mown grass
and the shrilled laugh of children flying
On swings that become wings
against a summer sky

What else would I dream about when
An ice storm sets in
except the
		Cherry Icee’s we bought
At Gordon Moore’s drug store
		For a dime
There was Cherry and Cola
		Root beer and Limon Lime
We started to notice that
		Girls were different
A mystery that would never be
		Solved

What else would I dream about
in the concession
		to an afternoon snowstorm
		in January long gone

A New Ghost

There once was a new ghost from Limon
Who was banished to spend death alone
He'd had no flair to flaunt
Didn't know where to haunt
So he spent Halloween on the phone

The Wind To Know

Lost in the miles, lost in the smiles,
the road calls out my name

Throttle in hand, a beckoning land,
no two days then the same

Direction unmapped, my nose to attack,
what’s never been before

Fate rides ahead, making my bed
—the wind to know for sure

Forever Waiting Unknown

The West changes you…
 its wind blowing
distant and near

A promise you
had always meant
to keep

A feeling
better gifted
than kept

A memory
forever waiting
—unknown

Costa Rica

Very vibrant green lots of different trees
The quetzal bird sings in the bright morning
Aqua and red feathers fly through the fog
On the beach lay the tracks of a turtle
The sand is hot and soft during mid-day
It starts to rain in the wet green jungle
The strawberry darters hop in the rain
Pick some pineapples they grow nice and fresh
Pink, red and purple flowers grow on vines
your ears pop as you go through the mountains
look over the landscape green all around
colorful butterflies drift against trees
watch the sunset on the sweet Limon coast
gaze the night sky the shooting stars are bright

La Bella Luna

"...the sister moon, cold, comely queen of the sky."
                                                    Ada Limon

                    ********

You display your beauty like a rose,
your appearance, at first frail and ghostly,
blooms to fuller view in a sky studded with stars.
O Maiden Of Mystery! home of stillborn
assignations, misspent dreams and lovers'
assignations, fired with all the grief
you can distill, and all the joy.
You haunt the heavens, blithe and beauteous,
even when unseen your hold is mighty,
mistress of the menstrual flow, the driving force
behind each woman's mood and machination.
The sun shall lose her heat and bleed to death
e'er you dissolve, expend your final breath.

Territory of Absolution

To think of death before she died,
to go where we can not yet go
but still we must.

To be 3,000 miles away when she
gave up the ghost and surrendered,
eyes closed forever, with nary a sound.

Wanting to have said "goodbye mum"
when she was still here to hear it,
and before the light was gone for her,
but not yet for me.

              *******

Inspired by the poetry of Ada Limon,
and with thoughts on my own mother's death.

A Lovers Fight

I'm not desperate girl
I'm into affection girl, feeling
your bodies purity, while I'm
aroused like your white pearls
I'm into making love to your
body,
I'm into staying calm so its not
even being naughty
I'm into you feeling like a
women
I'm into making u feel refresh
like a citrus limon
I'm into pleasing you
I'm into these simple things
you do
after I'm done you'll clearly see
the boy
After I'm done you'll feel the
man deploy
After I'm done you'll feel that
butter love
You'll feel my ambition with the
world, my tears and things i
was burden of
You'll want to make me your
favorite new thing
Your breathe of fresh air as i
blow on your nose ring
whether black
Whether white
whether latin
whether persian
or asian
whether thin
whether thick
whether rain, snow or sun
you deserve it all for the times
you weren't appreciated Hun
With this on my mind how can i
fail at being a man going in as
a boy with the soul of a male.
