Premium MemberBlue Dogs and Parchment Shields

sniff out the garish lights
loud music and drunken discussions
enter the party uninvited
conceive uneasiness and instant disdain
you try to dance with strangers
who quickly slide away.
somewhere in the intercourse of a reddish night
they feed you to a pack of blue dogs
willing to drag you down into their fetid fires.

Loneliness warps all reason
lowers the standard
opens the vein to jagged strangers
liaisons come and go
like a roman legion
they begin the journey devil bold
ranks thinning by the minute by the hour
till only one soul remains
beneath a parchment shield
his destiny to forever cower

Bonjour

Avec grande amour
Joyeux Noël et bonne année
Faut toujours bien se rappeler
Notre sourire est précieux
Au bon Dieu
Réjouir
Des beaux souvenirs
Les liaisons
Parmi nos chansons
Chaque note
Nous emporte
J'admire
Vous faire rire
Bonne humour
À tous les jours
Passion d'amour
Chacun son tour
C'est bien Moi
J'ai confiance en soi
Venez mes nouveaux amis
J'ai les chaises sorties

Is this an exception? Isn’t inter-caste marriage a taboo even today in the Indian sub-continent? Being born into two contradicting castes yet mad in love for each other, they knew their kith and kin would let them not live together. They decided to go far away from the inhuman world. They knew they’d be easily tracked were they to travel by bus or train or airplane. They walked through the hills and vales eating from the plants, drinking from the streams, and resting under trees. Lo! They surrounded them. The villains of love! Torturing them, slaughtering, they threw them in the Holy River who could not swallow up their holy bodies rather floated them in procession.

hands held together
two lovely wedded angels
to eternity

“Since formation in 2014, Telangana has witnessed at least 50 murders related to inter-caste love liaisons and marriages” – Deccan Chronicle, Thursday, June 10, 2021.

B Cuz I Can

Before Corona, HIV ‘n Hepatitis B
caroused with a death scare - intrinsic
Under sheets, a plausible viral milieu
zip-zapped the pompous macho buzz

Influenza strains cheered o’er a din of garrulous ‘I’s
carrying on, toasting a jaded Earth toxic,
awakening the grim grinning gestalt of Gaia!

New lessons and poignant liaisons must begin…

Because she’ll play with ‘us’ again and again
Coz, she’ll just laugh us out with a louder gist
CAUSE, is germane to ‘our’ best treatment
Because ‘we’ can stop all her mistreatment.

A Many Splendid Thing

I think of a past lover,
One lost now in the machinery of time,
but that’s just a poet’s conceit,
she has built a castle
where she now rules dozen of white mice,
one of those twitchy loyal rodents
has my face.

Far better to see her
wandering in a maze of sweet sorrow
as she recalls our brief liaisons.
I can write a poem about that,
nothing with her not giving a damn about me
or a day after we parted
dismissing me from her thoughts forever.

No, I will rewrite the past and the future,
maybe get the exterminator to call
regarding the mouse problem.
Clutch my chest
to indicate a broken heart,
think of an ending that won’t leave folks
wondering just what kind of a looser I am.

Discovering the Real Me

For nearly three decades
She had been ruthlessly explored
Losing her identity, her independence
Her man always looking at her
Through his own selfish lens
She awaited discovery
Finding the ‘Real Me’
His liaisons
And ways of fun
Further freezing the cold relationship
Now for him
An unlucky turn of events
Meant
Some flattery, some importance given to her
So, the other day he said,
‘Let’s go on a discovery trail.’
She, as per her habit, remained silent
Knowing perfectly well
The endeavour would fail
And so they went
Hundreds of kilometres away
He searching for
That missing connect
Forgetting that in any pact
Both parties are equal partners
Unlike what happens here
His words always dominating hers
Now they’ve come back
Without any success
Their relationship in the same mess
But she happy at being again closer to home
At home, at ease
Her nearly three years of self-discovery
Result of
A lucky turn of events
Giving her oodles of confidence
An obvious comparison
Between two men
She has finally found
Her source of joy
Oh Boy!
She has eventually discovered
As the world rightly notices
From her boundless glee-
The ‘Real Me’

A poets dream, she'll seduce with her eyes,
pens will desire to praise her charming guise,
but be cautious, she'll treat you like her book,
explore each chapter with her detailed look.
Drain your ink, smoking pages in to fire,
drink your spirit like blood thirsty vampire.

But now it seems she may have met her match,
a poet who's heart, she's struggling to snatch.
He holds scriptures, she's never read before,
each musing, leaves her yearning to feel more.
A heart breaker, who gives no man a chance,
dream maker, who leaves women in a trance.

A modern day Samson and Delilah -
spiritual soulmate who could tame her.

Hot soup here
Keeping at arms length;
Face mask call-signs

~~~~~~~~~
Antiseptic atmosphere
Pockets of isolation;
Together yet distanced
~~~~~~~~~

Empty public places
Ghost town feeling;
Pandemic toll

~~~~~~~~~
Lockdown hits hard
Widespread anxiety;
Fear chokes worry
~~~~~~~~~

Global bad news
Broken economies;
A tragic retreat

~~~~~~~~~
Just a small virus
Strangles our mortality;
Deadly lung infection
~~~~~~~~~

Across the world
Colour blind viral works;
Shades of Spanish flu

~~~~~~~~~
News flash
Death toll peaks;
More on the way
~~~~~~~~~

Dangerous liaisons
Gatherings banned;
Contagious consequences

~~~~~~~~~
At last the moon
Styles luna fancy;
Magnetic convergence
~~~~~~~~~

Scary phenomenon
Downtown ghost town;
Crowded disappearance

~~~~~~~~~
Stay at home
Internet escalation;
Social creatures chained
Our rampant youth,
was filled with
uninhibited emotions,
lusty moments,
and romantic liaisons.
We sought excitement
and flirted with danger.
Damn the consequences.
Those unchecked emotions
have lasted many years
and we still have time to go.
Little Lucy likes liver
Long legged Lou loves Lucy
Loquacious Lenny laments loudly
Lovely Linda listens little
Listen Linda Listen!
Laborious Leroy lives luxuriously
Lethargic Larry lies levitating
Liberal Lillian languishes longingly
Looking languid, lacking levity
Lexical Lexi, legendary lewd librarian
Loves licentious liaisons
Lecherous Lucas lubricious libertine
Looks lustily like leading lothario
Lugubrious lyric, ludicrous lines
Lacking lucidity, looney lunacy
Lightheaded lexicography!
Lucrative limerick?? Laughable!
Frozen
You write about love,
 I spit lyrics of hate,
 You yearn to be taken,
 I hated being raped,
 You talk of such beauty,
 My tears sting my face,
 You’ve had romantic liaisons,
 I’ve been drugged and disgraced,
 We’re not all that different,
 Your snow and I’m sleet,
 Just a couple of poets from different ends of the street.
                                                                   wM
Loves Needs
Loves Needs
Yield not your favours maiden mine,
At least not until the end of time,
It is important that you keep
Your body pure so you can sleep.
Unfortunately my tenure here,
will not support so long a fast, l fear,
So with a heavy heart l must pursue,
others less principled in their view than you.
I doubt I would enjoy such trivial liaisons ,
But physical needs create unsavoury occasions,
My heart and needs respect your zealous grace,,
But conscience is dumb in passions strong embrace.
Of course I would eschew all thoughts of tawdry bliss,
If from your honeyed lips I could draw one kiss,
In gloried celibate State, for a while I would repine,
But not of Course forever or until the end of time.
A Sonnet To Growing Older
A Sonnet To Growing Older
My heart now speaks to me of ageless things
 Of solitary walks down country lanes
 Of quilted calico with simpler schemes
 Unhurried times, a pause, as quiet rain
 In memory drenched, the budding heart reviews
 Her nightly liaisons in twilight realms
 Illusive childlike carousel renews
 Majestic pensive thoughts and hopeful hymns;
 With joy rekindles ! Magic carousel
 It moves round and round in measured beat
 Bewitching power of music sounds compel
 The ageless ones to rambunctious retreat !
 Unhallowed fruit of age-
 My heart can sing !
 Redeeming time to catch the brass-bound ring
